HISTORIC CONTRACT

MARCH 17, 2005

This week on SmackDown!, the Legend Killer Randy Orton will make a special Thursday night appearance to officially sign the contract pitting him against the legendary Undertaker at WrestleMania 21. On April 3, live on pay-per-view, Orton will undoubtedly be up against the battle of his career. That is, if he makes it out of SmackDown! Thursday night.

Randy Orton will not be the only special appearance Thursday night, as former Rocker Marty Jannetty will also be on hand to face Kurt Angle.

The Olympic Champion is out to accomplish everything Shawn Michaels ever did in just four week. Last week, Angle won a Ladder Match. This week, he takes on HBK's former partner Marty Jannetty. The former Rocker is coming off a huge victory over La Resistance on Monday night. Can the momentum carry over to his match against Angle? Tune in on Thursday night to find out.

That's not all. Rumors have been circulating that SmackDown! General Manager Theodore R. Long will speak about the repercussions against John Cena as a result of the FU he gave to the GM last week. Tune in to SmackDown! to find out what is on General Manager Theodore Long's mind. One thing's for certain, Long cannot be in a good mood after having his authority questioned.

Plus, what kind of mood will John Cena be in just two weeks after losing his United States Championship and one week after exploding with rage against JBL's Cabinet?

Don’t miss SmackDown! on UPN (8/7 CT).

I'm mainly watching for MJ/Angle, and it's been pretty good so far. Nice and competitive, but nothing that makes Angle look bad.

He's been wearing t-shirts on and off for the last 13 years.

yes but the look there worked, not here with the short blue leather shorts.

He's never had an impressive looking chest and abdominal area, so maybe thats a good enough reason.

When was the last time Jannetty did a spinning heel kick?!

Marty still looks a little awkward here and there but overall is holding his own and really should get a contract.

Woah... that was the first time I've actually enjoyed a match on Smackdown in a long time. A little awkward at times (Jannettys charges into the corner seemed a little slow), but overall a good showing. Give him a contract!

Is it a little wrong for the best match in quite a while on Smackdown included someone who isn't even under contract?

That match was phenomenal...like someone else said, Marty looked really good, but it didn't make Angle look weak, IMO. Please, WWE, sign this guy NOW. Just let him wrestle in the midcard on Smackdown, and I'll be happy.

I thought he looked a little slow in parts, but maybe that is just making the adjustment to being in a WWE ring again. I think he wrestled really well overall, though. And man, a double axehandle off the top to the outside??? When's the last time anyone has done that on WWE TV?

Yeah... that was pretty nice. It was good to see Jannetty busting out some stuff I don't remember him doing before.

Very good match. I'm pretty sure that's not the last we'll see of him (you don't book a guy to go 20 minutes with Angle if it's a one-shot).

what sold that match for me was the anklelock sequence at the end. too many times, wrestlers just tap out to the anklelock about 30 seconds into it. in this match, jannetty tried so many times to get out, succeeding once, and when angle held on towards the end, jannetty kept fighting it and you knew that when he finally did tap it was after he had tried everything he could to get out of it... jannetty sold the match extremely well and both wrestlers told a great story. sign jannetty now, that was awesome!

The first counter out of the Angle Slam actually looked good for once (an arm drag escape) instead of the usual slip out (which he did for the 2nd escape).

MJ looked really good. I'm suprised they gave him that much offense and I'm thinking he might get some type of deal because of it. The announcers were really putting him over and I doubt they'd bother if there were no plans. I hope he gets a contract and at least gets to be a JTTS on SD! or Raw. He proved on SD! that he can get the fans behind him and still move pretty well. He sold the ankle lock better than anyone I've seen in a long time.

Sharmell Sullivan returns... as a person in the crowd watching the match, and it's time for Heidenreichs new gimmick.

Booker's one lucky man. I'd love to hit that shit raw every night.

And I can't believe this damn Heidenreich/Booker feud isn't over...
