The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 Nailed a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to send the game into overtime. Thing was, Brendan Malone decided that Lebron should make every shot in OT, and Chicago decided to put three or four guys on him, and they scored two whole points in OT. yay Bulls 40-

Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted April 1, 2005 Miller finishes with 31 and SJax 29 as the Pacers beat the Heat in OT. Pacers are now 3-0 against the Heat this year. And that's without Jermaine O'Neal AND Jamaal Tinsley. And of course, Artest. Seriously, Rick Carlisle deserves serious mention for Coach of the Year. That, and it further proves my point that Miami just might not be THAT good... Or maybe the Pacers are better and deeper than they look.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 I'd say it's the latter. The Pacers have played 71 games. Reggie (starting SG) has played 55. Foster (starting C) has played 50. O'Neal (starting PF) has played 41. Tinsley (starting PG) and SJax (6th man without all the suspensions and injuries) have played 40 each. Only the Joneses, Croshere and Eddie Gill have played at least 60 games. And we're still 7th in the East.

alfdogg 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 I wonder what Charles Barkley had to say, about Dominique.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 He said there was no excuse for Wilkins not getting in because he's the 9th-best scorer in league history, one of the most colorful players, and that when he left the Atlanta Hawks, the Hawks fell off the planet. He's also getting quite ornery about having to show Lakers games every week even though they're well out of it.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted April 1, 2005 I would be, too. I remember earlier this season when they were actually in the top ten. *le sigh*
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 I saw enough of the end of it to catch Yao telling Kenny Happy Birthday. That's enough for me. Also, I'd express my disdain over Dominique not getting voted in, but I'm sure Ripper will touch on it in a much better way than I ever could.

That was a quality victory tonight over the Cavs. I'm a little concerned about the next game against Charlotte. The Bobcats have played very strong all season, and always put up a fight. Maybe Chandler and Brevin Knight will mix it up again and continue the almost brawl they started towards the end of the game on Wednesday.

Ripper 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 It wouldn't be anything truely connected with the NBA if they didn't fuck over Dominique Wilkins at least one more time. I mean seriously, there is no reason the guy shouldn't have been inducted, but he eventually will I guess. Just dispictable. They constantly act like the guy was nothing or that he was just dunker and not the amazing all around player that he was. Shit, Dominique could probably still put up 15-16 a game. And sadly, Charles Barkley seems to be the only person to ever speak about the BS shoveled on Dominique Wilkins. And I have to repeat this AGAIN. The Hawks did not suck after Dominique was traded, although I still think they were title contenders until he was. The Hawks were a good team until the management decided that trading Steve Smith for JR Ryder would be a good idea, and getting rid of Mookie Blaylock for Bimbo Coles would be a good idea. They were always in the second round of the playoffs but couldn't get over the Bulls hump.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 How about when it has a Jason Kidd and a Vince Carter? I like both of these guys. They were both in situations where their management was content and said "fuck this winning shit....its not really necessary" Why WOULDN'T Jason Kidd be upset that the team traded away or lost its (at the time) second best player, the starting 2 guard and defensive stopper and their sixth man and got NOTHING in return. NOTHING. They significantly downgraded the team for no other reason but to save money. The same thing constantly happened in Toronto. I understand. They're overrated because they play in a terrible conference. They'd probably be like a 4th or 5th seed in the West. I'm not saying they're bad, and a lot of credit goes to Wade and, yes, Shaq, but outside of those two and Eddie Jones' occasional great night, who else do they have? They're very thin, and with Shaq, slow on defense. I could easily see the Suns, Spurs, hell even a team like the Mavs, takin them out. Now in the East, MAYBE Detroit depending on the kind of basketball they play into May, and there's a good possibility the Bulls or Celts could pull off an upset, the Bulls moreso. A lot of credit went to Kobe and Yes Shaq, but outside of those two and Derek Fishers occasional great night, who else do they have? They're very thin, and Shaq is slow on defense. Would you call that Lakers team that walked through the league that year and almost went untouched through the playoffs overrated. Cause they are pretty much the same thing....only I think that Miami is deeper than that team, with damon Jones, Eddie Jones, and their PF by committee with Haslim, Latner, Mourning, Doleac. Ripper - Remembering when Detroits defense was being called "overrated" last year because they were playing Eastern conference foes.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted April 1, 2005 Kobe was and still is a better defensive player than Wade is, as good as Dwayne is, and Shaq was in his prime then. It wasn't just Derek Fisher, either.. the triangle was being run to perfection at that time and most teams had a hell of a time stopping it. Only way to tell if this year's Heat is overrated is to see what happens, I guess.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 HA!!! Kobe the defender....HA!! Every guard that he lined up against in that playoffs ate his ass alive. He would come right back at them, but still...ate his ass alive on defense. But the only thing people are saying about them is that they are amoung the elite in the league with Phoenix, San Antonio, Detroit, and Seattle(kinda). Its not like people are fitting them for a ring. I don't think they can possibly be called overrated.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 Why WOULDN'T Jason Kidd be upset that the team traded away or lost its (at the time) second best player, the starting 2 guard and defensive stopper and their sixth man and got NOTHING in return. NOTHING. While trading K-Mart for nothing was a supremely stupid move, their hands were tied. K-Mart wanted max money and even though he was my favourite Net, I don't think he deserved it and I agree with Nets management in not thinking he deserved it. Denver did and they were put in a no-win situation. Kerry Kittles sucks. The guy was always injury prone and seemed to be in street clothes more time then on the court. I'm glad they got rid of him. Look at him on the Clippers- again he suffered a bad injury. They significantly downgraded the team for no other reason but to save money. I agree with you there but they either had to give K-Mart a contract he didnt deserve or let him go for nothing. And Kerry Kittles was too injury prone. The same thing constantly happened in Toronto. I understand. After Vince's missed shot, the Raptors did try to keep the nucleus together by retaining all the guys who made that run possible so I can't fault them there. Vince was never healthy and the players were never able to hit that peak they had in 2001. They still tried to improve the team with the Jalen Rose team but the players always seem to quit at the end of the season. I do think firing O'Neill was a supremely stupid move though. Ripper 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 Kerry Kittles hadn't been hurt in 2 plus seasons and was their best perimeter defender and most consistant shooter. I mean hell, they even didn't retain Anthony Johnson who they could have paid pennies for. I think it was a case of new owner wanting a new team. And I mean, if you aren't going to resign Kenyon, make a run at another FA. You have Jason freakin Kidd on your team, people would love to play with him. But no. they sat on their hands, got rid of all that money in Martin and Kittles, and then looked SHOCKED when Kidd wanted to get traded after turning a team that had been to the finals 2 times in 3 years into basically a rebuilding process. Kittles missed 17 games in 02-03 and sat out a whole season. And look at him on the Clippers- the guy is very injury prone. I don't really know what FA were out there when they traded K-Mart but I don't think the Nets had lots of cap room. They went out and signed solid role players like Vaugn, Best, and Mercer and were bringing in Kristic and still had Kidney Boy. I know they weren't going to contend, but I thought they still had a good team. Kidd's injury kinda fucked everything up though. Without the K-Mart trade they wouldn't have been able to get Vince. Knowing that the Nets kind of traded K-Mart for Vince almost made me put a gun in my mouth but like I said, I'm glad Vince proved me wrong.
