Tony149 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2005 The show is up at OAOAST Home Entertainment. I've only managed to skim through the show as I was putting it together, but it looked like everybody did an excellent job. Lots of good stuff IMO.
NYU 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2005 Awesome, awesome show. I'm probably going to have some time to kill in between classes tomorrow, so I'll try to put some detailed feedback there. But congratulations goes out to Adam for finally winning the Heavyweight Title. And what an awesome match that was written for it -- whoever the hell did it, anyway. There's no doubt this is going to be the PPV to beat in 2005. And I'll be around....sometime.
Hoff 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2005 Problem: PR/Panther doesn't so much have an ending.
Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted April 4, 2005 Before I start with the feedback I'd like to say that the match between The 70s Dude and Calvin was my first real attempt at a long and serious match. I had done WarGheyms which was pretty long but it didn't do much to tell a story, it was just done to make you bastards laugh. So feel free to rip it apart and say nasty things about it or you can verbally felate me. Either way just leave me some feedback. I have to ask, after Dr. Pigley did his thing to Hell's Hitmen with the chair does he have to tend to them? I mean he did take that sacred oath right? Either way it was a fun way to kick things off and keep everybody from truly curtain jerking, on this...THE BIGGEST NIGHT. I liked the little run down. Patty's comments stole it from everybody though *makes love to Patty's artificial vagina* I marked for Ventura talking about The 70s Dude. Especially since Jesse included him in a thing with both himself and The Original Elite. Whomever wrote that I have to say thanks, as it obviously shows The Dude is making his mark. The crowd goes retarded as Hoff rolls off of Crystal, spent. I don't need to be hearing about this! I liked the little run down though since I wasn't here for all of it. Time to grab a glass of chocolate milk and get on with the real meat of the show!
Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted April 4, 2005 Awwwwww, they didn't put Hoff in a little ring! Damnit, I wanted to see Hoff confined to a little ring that made its way down the aisle at an impressive 5mph. There are alot of typos thus far Mr. Hoff. My advice would be to not talk to CWM at least for a week before typing your match up. His style of typing is contageous. Hoff's matches are always more erotic then they should be. People laying on the mat spent, guys pumping their hips, Hoff giving out handjobs...well maybe not that last one. I love the Dragon Suplex, its my second favorite suplex. No suplex can beat the Tiger Suplex. I mean c'mon, double-underhook from behind and you suplex them into a bridge. That's one serious suplex. Hoff sure does cry alot. If he's not uh-clubberin' he's uh-cryin'. He's the most sensitive powder keg I've ever seen. I liked the match though. Hoff's brawn was once again outdone by Drek's brain. Now Hoff needs a tissue and a Dr. Pepper. Nice little Calvin spot. I'm going back to bed for awhile now. I don't know if I should review the Cage Match about to take place because if I don't like something in it I'll have a volatile Aussie yelling at me. Perhaps I'll find out when I wake up and then continue reading AngleMania...THE BIGGEST NIGHT.
Some Guy 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2005 I only had time to read the match I was in, that is one long fucking show. Whoever wrote the match (I assume Zack because of the writing style) did a great job. I'll read the rest of the show and comment on it later.
NYU 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2005 I could see how the card might be daunting for people to live detailed feedback but, considering all the effort every writer put into this show, they deserve to at least get some comments for their stuff. So let me try and start this off.... First off, excellent graphics from Papacita. Papa knows how much I look forward to his pictures every month. The banners ALWAYS seem to improve from the previous month, and in my opinion, this was no exception. I liked the classy glittering of the AngleMania emblem, and it really gave the rest of the event a nice touch. The Love Doctors vs. Hell's Hitmen -- This was a nice, short opener to kick off the preshow before AngleMania IV. The issue between the two teams hasn't been quite resolved yet, so that definitely opens up the door for another rematch between the two. Maybe at Living Anglelously. But like I said, decent stuff, with the Doctors trying to use their speed to their advantage but finding the Hitmen's sheer strength to be a tremendous obstacle. AWESOME VIDEO PACKAGE~!~! At least, I think it came out well. And my opinion is the only one that matters.... As always, I really liked the Schiavone/Ventura interaction at the beginning of the show. To hear them go over each match in detail like that lends each match an extra feeling of importance. It also adds an old-school aspect to the Pay-Per-Views which is always appreciated. And sure, the "Who" stuff was lame, but it was lame in that old-school way. The comments from Watts at the end were a nice touch as well, to really put over the fact that Drek Stone, Hoff, and Axel are basically the future of the company. Drek Stone vs. Hoff -- I already gave Hoff my thoughts on this match last night, so I'll give the quick rundown here. I REALLY enjoyed it. In my opinion, it was better than the match at Zero Hour. To me, that one seemed a little too long-winded for what we were going for. But this one was more streamlined and seemingly more action-packed -- which, to me, simply made it better overall. Some good psychology here, like with Hoff trying to use what worked last month and give Drek the H-Bomb on the arena floor. The flow of it worked for me too, starting off with the feeling-out process at the beginning with the exciting near falls at the end. The finish worked for me too, with both men willing to cheat and use the exposed steel, simply to advance to the Main Event of the night. Great stuff to kick off the show. Possibly the best Pay-Per-View opening ever. Axel vs. Crystal -- Total intensity here between Axel and Crystal throughout the entire thing, which was great to see. Axel finally looked like a man here, after being pitifully controlled by Crystal the entire month. He was releasing weeks of frustration against her, and that rage really did show. It was also good to see Crystal use her intelligence to her advantage. With both focusing upon the knee, and having Gunner take the most opportune times to cheat on her behalf. Crystal using the Axel Grinder was pretty cool too. There was some nice stuff near the end too, including Axel busting out the Frog Splash on Crystal for a two count, followed by Crystal getting the Diamond in the Rough for the two count again. The reversal sequence to the Crystalling was very nicely handled. The Female Phenom taunting and slapping Axel near the end was a great touch, and it made seeing Axel get the clean win a few seconds later only that much sweeter. Once again, another excellent match near the start of AngleMania. It definitely set the stage nicely for the Main Event. Tha Puerto Rican vs. Panther -- Entertaining steel cage match, though it really DOES need an ending. I figure the post length just cut off the conclusion, but it leaves a bad taste in your mouth to read through the thing and not know how it ends. Liked the touch at the beginning with Panther climbing up the cage. I really liked the start of the match. Instead of going for the normal feeling-out process, they just went straight for their finishing moves. It gave the contest some kind of urgency, since these two men are just so desperate to beat the other. Like the other matches before it, this match had an intensity that just wouldn't quit. These men have had a deep rivalry for two months, and their hatred for each other definitely showed. The stuff with Tina and Popick on the outside was entertaining too. The stuff right near the end were some great highspots, including the russian leg sweep off the top rope and the spinebuster onto the chair. The only problem is: If the message board system is cutting off your posts because the match is too long, you really do need to cut your match down then. MST3K, your stuff would benefit so much if you would just streamline it a little. But I definitely enjoyed what was here, and I hope to see the ending soon. Prince Killings vs. Brock Ausstin -- Good enough match. It was a nice contrast to the three beginning matches of the PPV, in which it wasn't nearly as intense or action-packed as they were. Like I told Chuck earlier, I actually liked the twist of Killings being untalented in the ring. For all the hype of him being a huge movie star, it turns out that he doesn't know the first thing about wrestling besides being able to slap on a mean chinlock. Brock knew this, which is why it made so much sense for him to dominate Prince with his strength for the majority of the match. And Prince, knowing cheating in the ring is probably his best attribute, responded accordingly by using a camera to get the win. Which was creative, I might add. Not like Carl Winslow in the SWF, which is a BLATANT use of storyline stealing! I sure hope something is done about that.....right. Yeah. Anyway, with this latest wrestling development, I'm actually looking forward to seeing where this Killings character goes. And with that, I'm off to class. More feedback later. And I hope to see more feedback from everyone else too.
Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2005 I only had time to read the match I was in, that is one long fucking show. Whoever wrote the match (I assume Zack because of the writing style) did a great job. I'll read the rest of the show and comment on it later. It was a combined effort of myself and Eskimo writing that match. He did much of the first portion, I did the second half and the finish was something I thought up spur of the moment that I thought would be cool. Also, I got the idea for the aWo swerve spot from the Shane Douglas/Tommy Dreamer vs. Impact Players match, where Douglas gave the Triple Threat sign and Joey Styles screamed about how he was screwing with Dreamer all along, only to reveal he was suckering the Impact Players. CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2005 Axel vs. Crystal -- Total intensity here between Axel and Crystal throughout the entire thing, which was great to see. It was a joint effort with me and Axel, and I'm glad he finished it off very nicely.
Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted April 4, 2005 I've decided not to feedback the Cage match between Axel and Crystal. CC hasn't left feedback in over a month and NGA hasn't said a thing about anything I've done when he's left feedback. Those combined reasons make it so I don't have to bother with their match. The PRL and Panther match has no ending and I don't recall the last time SKBF feedbacked me so skip that too. My partner in writing for the past couple months did a nice job with the Killings debut. I liked the character and also how Brock's not taking him seriously and ending it quickly cost him in the end. More later as the next baseball game has started on ESPN2
KingPK 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2005 I think I'll do what NYU did, and just comment on the first few things...because I just can't really fully read the whole show in one sitting. The graphics through the whole thing were just awesome, let me start off with that. Think you could check out my banner request thread in Graphics and Testing Papacita? *bats eyes* Hell's Hitmen vs. Love Doctors - Tony and Jesse are a good alternative commentary team. Good for a "Free For All" opener, as both teams got some offense in and the DQ finish sets up another, longer match in the future. I agree that the opening montage was well done as almost everyone got some words in, and put over the importance of the event to them. I like Tony and Jesse coming back to run down the card. Drek vs. Hoff (1st World Title match) - I have a suggestion: how about putting all these "textual packages" together and posting them the Saturday before AM? They would bring people up to speed who don't really read all the shows much easier. As far as the match goes, NYU already stated my thoughts about the pace and how both men threw everything they had at each other. Seemed a bit short, but it was the opener, so you can't blow your load there. Very well done. Axel vs. Crystal - Good that you guys went the logical route and didn't have Crystal go toe-to-toe with Axel, instead involving Gunner to allow Crystal to get in her shots and work the knee to bring him down to her level, so to speak. Though it would have been better to write a bigger spot to completely disable it. Axel getting pissed off and powering Crystal around, who has to resort to cheating to get the advantage and do a nice counter into the Crystalling. The finish is great, with Crystal's cockiness getting the best of her. Tha Puerto Rican vs. Panther (steel cage) - I'll feedback this once the finish goes up. Prince Killings vs. Brock Ausstin - I have to take a LITTLE credit for Prince, since I brought the character idea up to Calvin over an AIM convo, but he's taken it and ran with it. Prince being a total farce in the ring was a pretty good twist, and Brock's lack of cooperativeness at the beginning was pretty funny. I liked how the photographers' jumping up on the apron at intervals during the match figured into the creative finish with Prince using the camera flash to blind Brock and get the pin. Should be interesting where Prince goes now. New New Midnight Express vs. The Heavenly Rockers - Yeah, using the rackets too much would have been overkill, but I thought the rackets weren't really used enough. Great story during the match with Tiffany getting his injured arm worked over through almost the whole match. Good getting the caged Cornette involved as well. Alfdogg vs. Sandman9000 - Damn, Alf's a resilient little bastard, isn't he? Wild bloodbath, and Caboose's commentary was fun, but it went on much too long for me. The Joy of X - Very, very entertaining match, and the lucha rule actually added something different to the match (K-Money rolling himself out so Rodez can come in, for one). The finish was nicely done with the multiple finisher attempts and getting all four guys involved. Rodez came off great, though Superstar looked really good as well. COD vs. GPX (Tag Titties, er...Titles) - Patty wrote this one, right? You've got a way with words, my friend. Downright Dennis Miller-ian. These two teams hate each other so much, that they won't even sell each other's moves sometimes eh? Now THAT'S hatred. The 70s Dude vs. Calvin Szechstein - I've always wondered something: how the HELL do you pronounce "Szechstein" anyway? Scheck-stein? Shuh-zec-stein? Getting right into the action and carnage was good, based on how the hatred between these two was built up. Some good spots with the guardrail and chair sandwich and the table spot. The Dude came off very strong here. And I agree with NYU again in the "ECW-ish" vibe this match had. Whew, almost done. I'll edit in other thoughts later. CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2005 I've decided not to feedback the Cage match between Axel and Crystal. CC hasn't left feedback in over a month and NGA hasn't said a thing about anything I've done when he's left feedback. Those combined reasons make it so I don't have to bother with their match. Fair enough. Although I haven't been here in the last week, so I was unable to give feedback this week. Hopefully I'll have enough time to feedback this week. I'll try to feedback this PPV in the next week, in stages at least since it's a bit much to do in one sitting. And it isn't a cage match
Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted April 4, 2005 I was told it was gonna be a Cage Match. Don't remember by who. I hadn't been able to read the shows before this week's since I was in and out of the damned hospital for that stuff. I'm going to pretend there was a cage involved though just to spite you
NYU 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2005 I'll try to feedback this PPV in the next week, in stages at least since it's a bit much to do in one sitting. Start with the Drek/Axel match! Just cause. And Frigid, the Panther/PRL match was in a Steel Cage. The Axel/Crystal one was a regular match. For some reason, and I have no reason why at all, you've mixed the two up. Yeah.
Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted April 4, 2005 I thought both were in steel cages actually. It got me wondering why we had two cage matches, but I guess I needn't wonder anymore.
Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted April 5, 2005 NYU forced me to skip everything else for the time being to feedback the Main Event. He told me that if I didn't do it he would set fire to my GI Joe collection. Having no GI Joes left in my collection I couldn't risk losing anymore, so here goes! Drek and Axel stealing water from fans and actually consuming it. That's a good way to get Mono guys. We live in an age of cooties and you need to be careful about these things. I liked how Drek asked for Boose's chair but just took Coaches. You know, if Alf was the champion people would be begging him to use their chair. He wouldn't have to ask at all. This of course is because Alfdogg is the Champion of Champions, but I'm getting side-tracked. COLE And last I checked, those steps weighed 10,000 pounds! Yes! That reference here isn't used nearly enough. Drek does the Harlem Hangover? But he doesn't Raise the Roof before it...for shame. Drek Stone tries struggling his way out of it but, like before, Axel’s grip is way too tight. With a loud yell, Axel stomps around the ring for a second, further raising the buzz in the arena. He then lifts Axel up over his head for the Diamond Cutter -- BUT DREK GRABS AXEL’S HEAD ON THE WAY DOWN! AND HE SPIKES HIM INTO THE MAT WITH THE STONECUTTER!! This is where I personally would have liked to see it end. Axel looks strong in the match but at the end he just doesn't have enough to pull it out. It would have elevated him yet at the same time would have been a good way to counter him being shoved down my throat in 30 different angles while going over half the roster on the way to his Anglemania match. This didn't happen though and the match continued on. I can't see the Double Burning Hammer spot being possible within the realm of physics but that's not my main thing. It was a good match, very good brawl, and in the end there's a new champion. I'll leave it at that. I'll feedback the other stuff later.
Tony149 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2005 I've been so jammed with various things to write that I haven't been able to read much of the show. However, I will do my best to give feedback on everything, even if it takes weeks. But don't except awesome feedback a la NYU. We're talking thrift store quality here. I gotta give credit to Eski for the "free preview" match. I was kinda surprised to see him ask to use the match that way because he wasn't thrilled with having to rush it due to a busy scheduled, but it worked really well. The match itself was soild and the commentary was great. Excellent use of some of Schiavone's imfamous lines, and the gag where he called a superkick a sidewalk slam and completely missed the call on a real sidewalk slam later in the match. The way he was written in some segments (SBTS and later w/Larry Zbyszko) reminds me of a saner verison of J.R., where we took an announcer and had him do/say whacky things. It's more subtle than the hit-you-over-the-head approach with J.R. It was also good to see there was an excuse given for the Docs' & Hitmen's absence. The murdering of a tag team? Then another classic Schiavone line. Beautiful! IMO, this was one of our better openings in a long time. It's a good thing NYU took over because I didn't have time to write a proper opening because I was too busy writing for HD and the PPV. I know that sounds normal to you, but I'm just beginning to become comfortable writing on a weekly basis. The opening I did looked more like something for an anniversary show, such as AM V than IV. It was also the first-time Triple C did a monologue (thanks to Hoff) on one of the PPVs I posted since I went with Schiavone and Ventura because I'm such a mark for the openings WCW did in 1992 with Bill Watts. I hope Hoff got what he wanted for his opening match. He left me instructions but I was so caught up in putting the show together that I only read it once, really quickly. When I saw it it reminded me of the old school WWF PPVs, where before going to the video package they showed the match graphic first. You know, I didn't even know the PR-Panther match cut off at the end, otherwise I would of told PR. I could've sworn it had a finish when he sent it to me the second time. PR, you're a guy who knows how to bring the content, but like the others have said, streamline your work better. You got a lot of talent, and obviously love to write, so just improve on that one thing. Awesome 6 man tag. I'm not sure what porno tights are, I guess it's a reference to the women on the tights. Great action throughout. One of the things we in the OAOAST do a good job of is pointing out the little things, much like it was done in the old days. Things like how Zack pointed out T.O.E. figured SG would be the weakest link because he hadn't wrestled in ages, etc. The last few moments of the match was hot, with all the finishers being hit, and the faces finishing CWM off together. I also liked the whole gang aWo thing with Caboose & SG then turning on T.O.E. While it's been tough trying to find out what the plans were every week, it was very fun to be involved in a match with 3 real OAOAST legends. It's always good seeing some of the originals involved. More feedback to come later.
NYU 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2005 Well, off with Part II of the feedbacking. The New New Midnight Express vs. The Heavenly Rockers -- This served as an excellent blowoff to the feud these two teams have had over the past few months. First off, I actually started laughing in the library when I read the description of "That twinkle turns into a wrinkle when James E. sees a huffing and puffing Head of Security, Carl Winslow, charging towards him." Great visual. And don't think I didn't notice the passing comment of "Charles being in charge". Cute stuff. As for the match, like I said, just the perfect blowoff. Great action between the two teams with Cornete being held at bay in the steel cage. I liked how the match was more so about proving which team is genuinely better without simply going for the rackets and swinging away. It almost had an old-school feel to it. Tiffany fighting through the pain, even with his cast being broken off with the NNMX, was a good sidestory as well. And with the Saints and Holly getting their revenge on Cornette at the end, it was just the perfect conclusion. Nice job. Well, that certainly was a segment with the Nerdlys. Yeah.....not going to pretend like I really understood it. But, um, it was fine for what it was. Yep. Alfdogg vs. Sandman9000 -- The buildup at the beginning here was great. With Caboose getting more scared with each passing song, but Cole and Coach not knowing what it means, it built up nice anticipation for Sandman to make his return. Good twist at the beginning with Sandy trying to get the pinfall cleanly instead of going straight for the violence. Really good action here, with a storied history that definitely helped. I also liked all the mystery men coming out to interfere too. Using a ham as a weapon? Awesome. Shocking as it is, this match was all about making Alfdogg look strong. And it worked. Even with Sandman, Darring, and Jingus all working against him, he kept fighting back stronger than ever. But the ending was an awesome twist. I loved how everyone just suddenly turned on Sandman, tricking him the entire time. And the final Five Star Alf Splash was cool too. Great match. Definitely exceeded my expectations. With writing like that, I have no idea why Alf's title reign wasn't more over......no, really. Yeah. The Joy of X -- Excellent stuff. In my opinion, KC is one of the best -- if not THE best -- writers in the OAOAST. He could take any match, even one that didn't have much buildup to it like this one, and make it something special. And his commentary always seems to work too. I liked the rule change here, although I know it comes straight from the SWF. Ha, I can't be fooled. The action here was non-stop, and a perfect indicator of what the top superstars in the X Division, both past and present, can actually do. The near-fall sequence near the end was just insane and handled so, so well. From the wrestlers pulling each other out of the ring, to sequences like Superstar hitting the Star Power IMMEDIATELY followed by K-Money hitting Sliced Bread #3, to KC applying the Chick Magnet at the end....this is one of those sequences that would drive a real-life crowd crazy if it actually happened. In the end, this match managed to make Leon Rodez look like even MORE of a star. The Global Party Xchange vs. Chicks Over Dicks -- I couldn't even begin to go over all the great humor in this one. From the fan screaming comments to GPX in a "totally non-heterosexual way" to Krista being announced to the ring by Michael Buffer, so much of the humor here clicked. And that was only at the beginning of the match. Cool cameo from Lindsay Lohan too. The actual action in the contest here was very good, but that always seems to take a backseat in Patty's stuff anyway when compared to the in-match antics between the wrestlers and just the overall descriptions of what's going on. You just can't beat completely random comments like “GO BACK TO ATLANTA, PUSSY! YOU SUCK!” hollers a middle aged Asian man dressed as The Godfather. Surprised to see GPX playing the heels in this one, but considering the sneak attacks they've faced in the past month, it actually makes sense. And a shooting star press to the outside Latvian announcing table? Absolutely fucking insane. The high-flying stuff to finish the match just ended the entire thing perfectly. Very exciting tag match here that seriously put over Chicks Over Dicks as ACTUAL dangerous competitors -- rather than just simply gold on the mic. The 70s Dude vs. Calvin Szechstein -- Awesome hardcore match. This is definitely the best thing Frigid has ever written, and it shows that the 70s Dude is a serious force to be reckoned with in the OAOAST. The action here was INTENSE~! with a capital "~!". Like I told Frig before, I got an ECW vibe from this one.....and if you're going for a Texas Death match, that's a good thing. So many highlights here. Calvin jumping off the top rope into the crowd. Dude smashing Calvin's head in between the guardrail and a steel chair. Cal simply chucking the chair at Dude's head was good too, although it was obviously blatantly stolen from my match. And, of course, both men going through the barbed wire table covered with glass. I also liked the way the whole feud concluded, with Calvin's temper getting the best of him, opening the door for the Dude to show he might be the more strategic of the two. Not that Calvin needed it, but this match made him look like an even tougher competitor. But of course, the real story of this one was the Dude, in my opinion, becoming a bonafide major force in the OAOAST. This match did wonders to boost his credibility instantly. Excellent bloodbath. Cute promo backstage between Chicks over Dicks and Jim Cornette. It makes sense though -- I really couldn't see Snickers being polite enough to hump your leg after burning your house down. Cornette refusing to give Krista more than 5 bucks because Alix would only spend it on glue was funny....but true. NNMX attacking CoD from behind was good too. I can only imagine the upcoming interactions between Alix and Cornette in the next few weeks. Comedy gold before it's even written. And Simon stealing Alix's Snickers bar for himself? That bastard's going to pay.... I'll conclude this tomorrow because I'm tired and I'm going to bed. By my count, I have the Six Man match to do....and of course, my own match. But I'm not going to comment on my own match. That would just be silly. But others should do it. Right away. It's good, I promise.
Adam 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2005 Well, I'll comment on what I have read so far, and seeings as I watched the 'other' Mania yesterday, I didn't get through a whole lot. As for Mascot, I will read you match and I will comment. That doesn't mean you have to comment on mine, and if you don't, thats your decision to make. The Opening promo with everyone's quotes was great, and it showed that NYU had put a lot of effort in to make it just right. It got me pretty pumped for the show. OAOAST Championship: Drek Stone vs. Hoff Great opener from Hoff here. It seemed really weird to have a title match on first, but it was with good reason. I'm glad that the respect between the two was mentioned, because despite the scathing promos from both men, they had a titanic battle last month, and it would be hard for there not to be respect between them. It was a good length, with good comebacks from Hoff after the Figure Four, etc, and a good ending with Drek kinda cheating to win, but using the Stonecutter for the three count. Alfdogg vs. Sandman9000 I really didn't know what to expect here, but I marked out when Sandy came back. I didn't have a chance to really know the character at all, as he left before I arrived, but the stuff that I have looked back on was always cool. The return of all the veterans trying to put Alf down was nice, and how Alf overcame all of them was well done. After seeing this, I hope Alf comes back, as I would definately like to see more of him and the old OAOAST guys. OAOAST Championship: Drek Stone vs. Axel I've already thanked NYU for all he did here in writing the match and picking me as his successor, but I'll do it in here as well. He wrote an amazing match here, and the finishing sequence was awesome. Congradulations to him on a great title run, and I can only hope to do half as well as he did. I've enjoyed the last three months greatly, and I hope writing continues to be this fun. Thanks to Hoff also, who has been someone who has helped me whenever I needed critique on my stuff, or advice in general. It goes without saying that feedback for Axel vs. Crystal would be greatly appreciated, and well done to CC who co-wrote that match with me. I'll leave feedback on the rest of AngleMania IV possibly tomorrow.
Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted April 5, 2005 I really find Gwen Steffani ugly as sin. I'm surprised CC doesn't use Trish since she thinks Trish is extremely beautiful. Personally I'd go with Victoria, but anyways its time for the match. Typo city here and my pet gecko is looking at me. Its pretty weird when he just stares at me, but anyways back to the match. The finish was a nifty way of ending things but really, for two people that just went through what they did for months it was a tame match. It just really came across as a way to make it seem Axel was entering his match later at a disadvantage rather then giving this story any justice. I still feel this storyline should have gotten its own thing rather then being a side thing with Axel main-eventing. It did suffer from it. The use of Carl Winslow in the NNMX/H-Rockers match is exactly what I was hoping for when I thought to introduce him. I'm picture poor Carl chasing Cornette and its giving me a great chuckle. The whole exchange of getting him into that shark cage was great. Bringing the Shark Cage into the action at times too was nicely done and the thought of getting a kneedrop from the top onto a broken limb had me shudder a bit. Very good match and hopefully the NNMX will be able to get over this loss as I like them alot. All the Carl Winslow usage was just beyond awesome, and I love this line COACH Carl Winslow, that's who. It's time for my people to fight the power. Carl is a mother fucking freedom fighter. ALF MATCH~! He pulled a CWM, look at this! Sandman slams the ladder down onto Sandman’s body did Sandy swallow a ring of any kind? Stay tuned! That bastard Sandy killed Caboose and because of that we can't hear his insightful thoughts during matches today. HAM SHOT! HAM SHOT! Just before Easter Sunday I took the spiral ham we were having and smashed it on the back of my father's head before placing it in the fridge. Alf being the Champion of Champions must have read my thoughts and used this to his advantage! After that brutal display of courage I think its pretty clear that Alfdogg is catapulted to the Number 1 contender's spot and needs to get a title shot. more later
Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2005 Ok, I'm going to attempt this in one go. Its a very slow day at work, so I might make it through. As Docs-Hitmen was mine I'll move straight to the opening. I really liked the wrestler's little speeches, that was a good idea from NYU. I got a little buzz off a few of these. A great set up for the show. The Schiavone-Jesse run down was also cool. I first got into wrestling in the early 90s with WCW Worldwide broadcasts with those two commentating, so I'll always mark for Tony and Jess. Bill Watt's appearance was also a nice touch. A good re-cap before the first World Title bout. The match itself was built well, nothing too flashy to start, then leading into the bigger moves. Things started to get a little overbooked with the removed turnbuckle pad, and Hoff kicking out of the Stonecutter kinda hurt that move a little I think (and made it way less exciting when Axel did the same later), but those are minor gripes. Solid match. Another nice re-cap for Axel-Crystal. Working the knee was a smart tactic that let Crystal do the heel heat segment without unrealisticly dominating offence. Speaking of that, Crystal uses a german suplex a little later that I'm not sure would look too good. Otherwise, the psychology was very sound. I was hoping Crystal would win this one, but I guess Axel needed to stay strong for the main event, and Crystal didn't look weak in losing. I'd agree with Mascot that this could have gotten more of its own focus. Panther-PRL was a fun brawl, some nice spots in there, but a bit of overkill. There were a LOT of chair shots and moves onto chairs which started too early into the match and were basically no-sold a few minutes later. Cole kissing a horse got a laugh from me. I'd hope the match ends shortly after where it cuts out because otherwise it's getting a little silly with all these huge moves that dont get a pin. Prince Killings' debut was enjoyable. It's interesting that we don't really have a lot of "Sportz Entertainment" type angles in the OAOAST as a rule, so Killings does stand out. The extra chin locks was a nice touch. I'll look forward to the swerve Chuck mentioned he has planned for the character. Good Heavenly Rockers/NNMX promos. Tony has become one of my favourite promo guys and he did another great job here. Ned watering Holly's garden with his sperm was impressively weird. Charles Robinson with a clothesline? Awesome. Match was very entertaining, a good heat section on Tiffany and excellent finishing sequence. Heh. I am becoming a Nerdly mark. Good to see them getting an angle. Sandman's return was very cool, as was Caboose's reaction. Wild match, fun cameos from Jay, JINGUS and Evenflow. It gave the match a very old school feel. The twist was nice, but couldn't they have done that without beating the crap out of Alf first? Poor guy. Er...the announcement about Anglemania V didn't make much sense? Joy of X was a great fast paced match up. Lots of fun spots, and for a match where the winner was obvious, it did a good job of keeping up tension. GPX and CoD have chemistry. Like, test tubes and stuff! I don't know. I liked the fans popping for Krista's headlock. Also bonus points for the use of the word "rambunctious". Anyways, Patty's matches are always a blast to read, and this was great. Ha, telestrator. Standing 630?! Wow, that is one flexible gal. I like Texas Deathmatches. I can't remember seeing one in OAOAST, not recently anyway, so I was looking forward to Calvin-Dude and it didn't disappoint. It got nice and brutal without getting cartoonish. This feud really put Dude on the map and reintroduced Calvin, so I'll look forward to seeing what they both do next. Alix is disturbing, and yet hot. NNMX-CoD should make for a fun feud. I'd like to see Neddy Bear and Alix on a date, or something, as Neddy is the official romeo of the OAOAST. I'm digging NNMX more and more all the time. As Zack mentioned, he and I did half each on our match. I won't comment on my bit but Zack's was really good. The aWo tease was a cool double swerve. The pace got quicker and quicker until we got a cool finisher frenzy sequence, and the triple superkick finisher was a nice way to underline the victory. Considering this match and feud wasn't really a long term plan, it all came together pretty well in the end. Aaaaand finally. To be honest, I wanted Drek to retain; I think there was still a lot of mileage left in his title run. But the match was good, not quite a classic but very solid. I liked the chokeslam to the floor, I've always enjoyed that move, and Drek with the somersault legdrop was cool, although, as someone else said, I'm not sure the double Burning Hammer is really possible. Overall, the card was good to great all the way through. There wasn't really a blow away MOTY contender type match, but then that's extremely subjective anyway. Thumbs up. I can't believe we made it to AM IV. Here's to another year.

Patty O'Green 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2005 Lots of reading. I do enough of that at school! When I actually show up. Which isn't often. I missed Dharma and Greg to write this crap. So ya’ll better appreciate. Making fun of Tony Schiavone is always fun. What a dork! VENTURA That's no joke. Although you should hear the one Patty played hahahah. my finest hour. money and the power, bitches. Nice opening video package by the N.Yeazy, as he likes to be called. Patty LOLed at Krista being dressed as the Easter Bunny. Espn.com’s baseball page has a confusing new layout. It makes me mad! Caboose’s Drek fandom is disturbing. However that opening match wasn’t. Good drama towards the end. I agree with the “action packed” comment that NYU made. However, I didn’t think their Zero Hour contest was too long or too wordy. Good wrasslin’ psychology with Crystal targeting the knee to cut Axel down to size. I believe the match did the feud justice. Because when ya think about it, if Cryssy had succeeded in taking out Axel’s knee then she would’ve ruined his title chances later on. Which would be totally mean and the ultimate revenge! I was sad that Crystal lost. Well, not sad “sad” but you get the point, dontcha! picking up signs such as...PUSH TOM GORAN, I agree with this sign. I created Tom Goran as the type of gun toting redneck everyman the fans can get behind. Anyway, the entrances in that cage match were really well written. I felt the need to point that out. At first I didn’t like Popick as PR’s manager, but I’ve warmed up to it after reading their interactions during their various skits. WHERE’S THE FUCKING ENDING TO THE MATCH, YOU ASSHOLES??? Such a tease! I think cage matches are the gimmick match of choice in the OAOAST. Are hell in the cell matches no longer hip in wrestling? Are they the pokemon of play fighting? Prince Killings is resourceful! Cute ending. As opposed to a non existent ending. Are chinlocks boring? I happen to think they’re very sexy. The NNMX/Saints match was the one I was most looking forward to. I was not disappointed. Good match for a great feud! I like to think I had something to do with 0.0001% of that feud’s excellency. Go me! Anyway, the storyline did wonders for both teams and their managers/image consultants. Alf really dragged out the legends for his match. I liked how Caboose summarized what the relationship was between all the wrestlers and Sandy. It all made sense to me in the end. But why did they have to pick on Alf before they ganged up on Sandman? Meanies! More later. At least before HD goes up on Thursday.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2005 Glad my match went down okay. It was never meant to be an epic, even before my laptop decided to continue it's inactivity. More feedback later.
Guest Failed Mascot Report post Posted April 5, 2005 Haha Rando came out to generic music and it was that horrible Ashlee Simpson song. Dog Food Test Taster? Well, it beats being a shoe salesman. I like Ventura doing commentary too. All sorts of awesome spots here like the series of Superkicks and the DOUBLE HIGH IMPACT~! I'd like to see Supes return full-time. Certainly could use him. Very good and fast paced match. I still need to write my stuff for this week so I'm gonna have to wait to feedback the rest. I will do it though.
CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2005 Alright, here's some little-by-little feedback. Freaking awesome opening. From the pre-show match to the "video package", it was great. And who did the graphics? They're top notch. Nice way to recap the feud leading to the Drek/Hoff match. Before I give any, ya know, REAL feedback, I just want to say I love the headlock bulldog. Even if it was just one move in the match, it made me smile. Anywho, some real feedback: I like the respect thing in the beginning and Caboose explaining it, since he's been in the same position. A very cool touch which wouldn't have been the same if Cole or Coach had explained it. I would like to be a tiny bit critical after the figure four spot: It seemed that Hoff was in the move for quite some time, but right when the move was over, he feels no ill-effects from it? A bit off, but just something minor. Damn, is Drek ever heeling it up in this match. In a good way of course. What a way to start the PPV. It was a heelish win for Drek, but not cowardly enough to make him look like a cheap champion like a lot of heel champs tend to look like. Nicely done. Hoff 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2005 Thanks to everyone who feedbacked the opener thus far. I've noted that people seemed to like this match more than Zero Hour's, but also had some criticisms and I've taken them to heart. I appreciate what people had to say and if anyone wants to go into more detail on the negatives, I'd love them forever. But enough about me... ANGLEMANIA IV~! What a show. Really, I was impressed top-to-bottom. With all the legends returning combining with all the new stars shining, it really felt special. To me, last year's card was "bigger," but this year's meant more. I could tell everyone put in that little extra "oomph." I was gonna try a new feedback formula, but I think I'll save that for this week's HD. This show and the effort involved, everyone deserves detailed feedback on their stuff. So... The Show Before the Show: Docs/Hitmen I apreciated the explanations for these guys not being on our TVs much recently. Murder? Awesome. It was a good match. Short, but rightly so. The Docs really stepped up their game, which follows after their last outing, so it was nice to see the continuity in that respect. It felt like the Doctors caught HH by surprise with their skills. Some good back-and-forth, and a fitting ending given the Hitmen's chaotic nature. Nice to see some agression out of Pigley at the end, and that's the kind of thing that could get me into the Docs a little more. Really got no complaints with this one. The video package was PIMP~! It gave the following proceedings a special feel. The kind of thing that would be out of place at say School's Out, but worked here. Spliced together very neatly. Kudos. The banter between Tony and Jesse ran down the card, with a natural, unforced feel to it. I'm a little sad I didn't get to go over everybody in every match. AXEL VS. CRYSTAL It's funny. Reading through this, there were a lot of parallel spots between it and Drek/Hoff, just by sheer coincidence. I liked it. Axel was PISSED and it showed. Crystal used her brain, both in the form of staying away from Axel and not letting him get momentum going, as well as working the leg over. Axel was just letting out his frustrations more than wrestling per se, and I liked it. The spot into the Crystalling was tight, and the finish as well. I like how Crystal's taunting bought Axel the time to get up, rather than just having him be superhuman. My only complaint was the Frog Splash. It seemed completely out of place. I mean it's cool...but it's so out of character for Axel. Not to mention that it was weird to see Axel break from the ass-kicking to pull off a technical, high-risk maneuver. But small complaint really in a thoroughly enjoyable affair. PANTHER VS. THA PUERTO RICAN Before I get to the match itself, something I noticed. A lot of people have come down on PR for being long-winded, but I actually thought it was appropriate here and really enjoyed this contest a great deal. Here's MY complaint, and this is more general. PR has like a million "trademark" spots. I mean, every other move the guy does has a name. At times he seems like a brilliant wrestler, and at times he seems like a spot machine. I dunno...I think either cutting down the number of spots, or the frequency with which they appear, would help a great deal. But I digress. I was really into this match. PR seemed alternately squeamish and vicious...which makes sense when you think about the character and the feud. Panther was gold, from his climbing entrance to his relentlessness through the actual match. The two fought tooth-and-nail. I loved the "chairfight" sequence (although PR's shouts of "en guarde were a bit TOO corny in my book), and I loved them just HITTING each other. Basically all the chair stuff was a nice touch. I *was* confused by the fans cheering for PR. Maybe after the match, but he didn't do anything THAT impressive I saw to turn the crowd at all. Also, not to step on anyone's dick (and I swear I liked the match), but what is the 99=pound PR doing throwing spinebusters? Boo. All complaints aside, it was a vicious affair I got into. BUT IT NEEDS AN ENDING. Anyway. BROCK AUSSTIN VS. PRINCE KILLINGS I never worked with Spike Jenkins, but he or someone should come back and handle Brock because Cal and Frig have gotten the guy over. This was ridiculous. From a booking perspective, I guess the right guy went over, but I thought it would have been better to see Prince lose after the shameful showing. I liked the "Prince thinks this is Hollywood" arc, but I would have liked to seen how he handled some egg on his face. It told a cute story, though. In the end, well, it was what it was and it was well-written, so that counts for someone. The camera spot was neat too, although if Prince was going to blind Brock with it he may as well have just done so instead of hitting him with it. The blinding seemed accidental as it stands. Eh. THE HEAVENLY ROCKERS VS. THE NEW NEW MIDNIGHT EXPRESS I marked out like a little bitch for the ending. It was good. A lot of fast action and good tag action. I liked Tiff stepping up his game as he was getting kicked around. Some great near falls, and Logan's reaction to Tiffany not getting the pin off the racketshot was memorable. Great ending, and nice to see the Saints pull it out. Really, no complaints. ALFDOGG VS. SANDMAN9000 Honestly, it was hard for me to get into this one. It seemed like a lot of random violence. The people running in was cool, but would have meant more if I knew who they were. And then JINGUS seemed out of place, but again, there's clearly a lot going on here I don't know, so. But the match itself was just a blood-and-gore show and that's not what I'm about. The psychology was not so much present. This is in stark contrast to a certain match a little later...but we'll get to that in a bit. THE JOY OF X Awesome, awesome match. This was a breeze to read. Great action...no no hang on. GREAT action (you'll note the capitalization there, see what I did? Woo!), and just AWESOME (there again) near fall sequences. It really put over the X-Champ, too. I have no complaints, obviously. It was written well, smooth flow, all that. KC should be proud to the max. I like his stuff all the time but this was maybe my favorite thing of his. COD VS. GPX Fun little spotfest. I laughed a lot, as I always do when reading COD matches. The girls busted out some very impressive moves, and while it wasn't the greatest MATCH per se, it kept me hooked. Nice use of the Canadian Destroyer (and nice name!) too. THE 70'S DUDE VS. CALVIN SZECHSTEIN I'll keep it brief since I already told Frig what I thought in private, but I loved it. THIS was violence with a story. It made the Dude look like a star and it was utterly memorable. Be proud, Adam. Be proud. THE ORIGINAL ELITE VS. ZACK, CABOOSE AND SOME GUY Excellent match, and again I find myself with nothing bad to say. It did a marvelous job of portraying the animosity involved. At times, it reminded me of Rock 'n Sock vs. Evolution, I think partly because of the legends involved. But it was great with some great wrestling sequences and some great spots. Ending sequence was hectic, and OMG TRIPLE SCHOOL'S OWT ruled. Just fun FUN match. DREK STONE VS. AXEL NYU already knows my thoughts, so I'll just say GREAT dramatic main event, all that tape watching paid off , and of course, congrats to our new champion. Given that we went with the WM X scenario, the babyface party at the end was a nice touch. If NYU is really done (no! ), it's a great match to go out on. Overall, this was just a ***** affair we should all be really proud of, because everyone brought it hard. It'll be tough to top.

Hoff 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2005 I hope Hoff got what he wanted for his opening match. He left me instructions but I was so caught up in putting the show together that I only read it once, really quickly. When I saw it it reminded me of the old school WWF PPVs, where before going to the video package they showed the match graphic first. You nailed it, man. Thank you.
