SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2005 PWI just said that one of the main reasons she quit was because she hated being a heel and wanted to turn face badly. Management told her she wouldn't be believable in the role and that was the last straw. I'm assuming she wanted the face turn so her character would be treated better (no fat ass or prude stuff) and probably because she thought she would do less jobs as a face. Dammit, they are so clueless. Not believeable? Ever since her heel turn I thought she'd have a tough time being a believable HEEL. They always say their characters are themselves turned all the way up, well with Molly she'd be the perfect face. The whole "their characters are themselves turned all the way up" rationale was completely abandoned around the time Eugene got over.
Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2005 The whole "their characters are themselves turned all the way up" rationale was completely abandoned around the time Eugene got over. I'd peg it sooner than that and say La Resistance. The first one-trick gimmick of recent times that really insulted people's intelligence.

areacode212 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2005 I was reading a report of the latest Torch that someone posted on another site, and apparently, Molly was also upset about her pay, which, according to Keller, was only around $50,000/year after expenses. Wow. If that's the most she could pull in after several years of working for the country's biggest wrestling company, how much is she ever likely to make in this business? Wow. If that's the most she could pull in after several years of working for the country's biggest wrestling company, how much is she ever likely to make in this business? God damn. That's weak. I can't imagine WCW was paying her that much better either for the year she was employed. Hopefully she has an education to fall back on, because she's nearly SOL. Wow. If that's the most she could pull in after several years of working for the country's biggest wrestling company, how much is she ever likely to make in this business? Well it was from the Torch, so it can't be true. There is NO WAY that she made that little amount of money.

Well it was from the Torch, so it can't be true. There is NO WAY that she made that little amount of money. That's bullshit, I remember reading an interview with Jerry Lynn where he said he was pretty much on the bare WWE minimum and even then that was still about 90 grand a year, i'd imagine Molly was at least on that, maybe even more considering all the training shit she did with the T & A girls. Plus, in an interview she said she'd used a fair bit of the money that she'd made and invested it, so I reckon she wouldn't be in dire straits finanically, as she comes off as being pretty intelligent and by the sounds of it, she'd prepared for the possibility of leaving a long time ago. areacode212 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2005 Yeah, I figured she had to be making more. Maybe I'll ask Meltzer. I mean, even I make (slightly) more than that, and I found it disconcerting that a WWE wrestler was making less money than me. Made me feel old.

I'd peg it sooner than that and say La Resistance. The first one-trick gimmick of recent times that really insulted people's intelligence. It started around the time of La Resistance, but I'm saying that when Eugene got over it was COMPLETELY abandoned.
areacode212 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2005 Hey, Meltzer responded to me: Me: Hey Dave, Keller mentioned that Molly was only making around $50,000 a year. Do you know if this even close to being accurate? I can't imagine someone who's been around that long making such a low amount. Dave: Believable on the downside, but the house show minimum is $500, you make more for PPVs and there is merchandising money, so she probably earned significantly more than that. geniusMoment 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2005 He said $50,000 a year after road expenses, which generally are 40,000 plus a year. Next time try reading.

From the WON: Molly Holly had requested a face turn because she felt her heel role was contradictory to her regilous beliefs. She didn't get it. She gave her notice and was told not to work out her notice, that this was her last night. (It was bound to happen eventually, this just gave them a reason.) That doesn't sound all that suprising, although i'm wondering if the issue regarding her beliefs is not only due to her own career, but the direction that the females in the company are headed in (ie: Divasearch, more T & A). I'm wondering how much more there is to this. A quote from an interview she did in 2002 leads me to think she's not exactly going to be the type who'll take that much shit: “I believe they (WWE officials) respect all the wrestlers’ values,” says the former WWE world champion, a devout Christian. “Although they have not yet asked me to do anything that I feel uncomfortable with, I’m sure that if they did I could discuss it with them and we could work around it. They want everyone to be comfortable with the show.” And if they pressed the issue? “If there was something that I really felt uncomfortable with, then I would say no. If it meant losing my job, then I’d move on to something else.”
