Masked Man of Mystery

The many forms of the F-U

Originally, Cena did do a normal DVD to Rikishi the first night he did the F-U. But of course, head drop moves are a big no.

Comedy doesn't work for you, stop while you're ahead...

I'm looking at these moves from the perception of a mark that thinks what he's seeing is real...nice try with the humor there pal, you had me smiling for half a second...

EDIT: you know and not even so much from a mark perspective. How many times have you or anyone else looked at a move and said "Okay, even if this were real, it's not gonna hurt a guy THIS bad!"?

Yes it does, because it proves my point.

If the crowd buys a move as a finish, if he can do it to just about anyone, and if it doesn't injure anyone, then guess what? You're opinion isn't worth dogshit, because it works as a finish.

NOW I'll quit while I'm way ahead.

Slightly off topic here...

But along the same lines of changing up finishers while keeping it the same...anyone remember back when Austin first started the Stunner how slow it seemed?

It took him a while to get the whole KICK, WHAM, STUNNER combo down pat.

The reason Cena doesn't use the Throwback anymore is because it's Shannon Moore's finisher.

The FU is pretty weak looking I'll agree but people buy it as a finisher so that's all that matters.

Is the FU a credible finisher? More or less. Does the crowd buy it? Sure. Does it still look like weaksauce dogshit garbage that doesn't hurt one bit and constantly annoys me with the way he never does it the same way twice? Absolutely.

I like Shannon, but if push came to shove, I'm sure Cena would get the move.

Besides that, it's not even the same move. Shannon's is a neckbreaker variation ("tumbleweed neckbreaker" think is the move name).

The guy who compared the FU to powerbombs and missile dropkicks doesn't understand physics.

The kayfabed the FU should be less effective than a gorilla press, he just lets you drop on your own he doesn't really drive it.

A powerbomb while you still just fall on your back, you may have some one like Sid or Vader putting all their strength and weight into THROWING YOU DOWN. The FU doesn't do that.

And any strikes or the missile dropkick you mentioned... ever watch a boxing match? A sudden unprotected strike could at anytime lay someone out. Are you saying that falling on your back from Cena's height would be more effective than someone like Booker T who used to come flying off the top rope and put all his leg strength into booting you???

Bottom line is, Cena is stuck with the crappy finisher now because its become part of his character, he can't really change it. But he should because while most people may buy it as a serious finisher, I find that it suspends belief a little too much and isn't very believable.

Yeah, thats a gem to hear in a SmartMarks forum.

Some people need to realize that wrestling rides the line between fake and real. It needs to have believablility to it to keep it entertaining and not lame.

Other wise Kane should just float to the ring every night and set his opponents on fire constantly. Or Austin should've brought a rifle to ringside for every match. Or Hogan's finisher should've always been the Finger Poke Of Doom.

That dude who said wrestling is fake was probably just compensating because he's a fanboy for Cena. He bought the chain lock and pees himself everytime Cena wins a match and can't handle that the FU IS WEAK.... period.
