Glad they got the fucker." Then it turns out it was "one of them..." Link 'n stuff... BANNOCKBURN, Ill. (AP) — Police say a female student has confessed to sending threatening letters targeting fellow minority students at her small Christian university, apparently to convince her parents the school was too dangerous for her to stay. There never was a serious threat involving a gun, Bannockburn Police Lt. Ron Price told The Associated Press today. He said the woman, expected to be charged today with disorderly conduct and a hate crime, was unhappy at Trinity International University and wanted to leave. Her name was not immediately released. "It's kind of a sad story actually,'' Price said. Minority students at Trinity returned to classes Monday after many spent the weekend at a hotel and with friends and relatives away from campus. The letters, filled with threats and racist epithets, were sent to three students during the past two weeks. Dozens of black and Hispanic students were moved off campus Thursday after the third letter was found and given to administrators. That letter threatened a black female student with physical violence with a weapon. "This is an agonizing moment for Trinity, one that is unprecedented for our university," Trinity President Greg Waybright said in a statement. "We are heartbroken by this revelation because we consider each student a member of our family. We also have a sense of relief because this difficult situation appears to be resolved." The targeted students were enrolled at Trinity College, part of the 3,300-student Trinity International University, about 25 miles north of Chicago. About one-quarter of the college's 1,000 students are minorities.

kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2005 Here's another article which states the chick was black. Odd how the MAINSTREAM LIBERAL MEDIA ESTABLISHMENT didn't mention this in the first article. Link and stuff... CHICAGO (Reuters) - A black student has confessed to sending racist hate mail to three fellow students at her Christian college, apparently because she was unhappy and wanted to be pulled out of the school, police said Tuesday. "The notes became her way to leave the school (Trinity International University) by implying it was not a safe campus," said Kevin Tracz, chief of police in Bannockburn, Illinois, in a statement. The unidentified female student was charged with disorderly conduct and a hate crime, Tracz said. The handwritten notes received last week by two black and one Latino student prompted the school to send about 100 of its 1,000 undergraduate students off campus to hotels or private homes for a night. Students returned to campus the following day. Officials at the school, which is affiliated with the Evangelical Free Church of America and also has campuses in Florida and California, decided on the evacuation because of the timing of the letters. The third week of April marks the anniversaries of the massacre at Columbine High School in Colorado, the Oklahoma City federal building bombing and the conflagration that ended the siege at the Branch Davidian compound near Waco, Texas, on April 19, 1993. School spokesman Melissa Stratis said the episode had been "an agonizing moment for Trinity, one that is unprecedented for our university." She refused to identify the student or give any information about her. "We are heartbroken by this revelation because we consider each student a member of our family," she said. "We still have too many Americans who give into their fears of those who are different from them. Not so long ago, swastikas were painted on the doors of some African-American members of our Special Forces at Fort Bragg. Folks, for those of you who don't know what they do, the Special Forces are just what the name says; they are special forces. If I walk off this stage tonight and call them on the telephone and tell them to go halfway around the world and risk their lives for you and be there by tomorrow at noon, they will do it. They do not deserve to have swastikas on their doors." 1996 DNC Acceptance Speech The ironic part is that the swastika was not done by a white guy, which Clinton was implying. -=Mike

Yes. "Fellow miniority students" is, imo, a rather low-key attempt to state this was a black-on-black HATE CRIME. Had the person been a stupid white kid that wrote those letters, Big Media would be mentioning skin color every paragraph. So modify those "??????"s, hippie... kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2005 Oh, and while this isn't worthy of it's own thread, it got a laugh from me. Gotta love my community. Just read the first few paragraphs then the bolded text. Warning -- this newspaper is SCAIFE-owned... Former Carnegie Mellon University Internet security specialist Ian Finlay was sentenced to three to six years in prison Monday for arranging to meet a 15-year-old girl for sex. The "girl," who used the name Kelly, was actually a Greensburg police officer who was contacted by Finlay while he was still in training on how to monitor chat rooms online. Finlay, 28, of 350 Spahr St., in Pittsburgh's Shadyside neighborhood, apologized just before he was sentenced but was unrepentant afterward. "I'm sorry for the problems I caused for the commonwealth, this court, my wife, and my family," Finlay said. Westmoreland County Judge John E. Blahovec said he wasn't buying it. "This case is a nightmare. (The Internet), it's kind of like a frontier. People push out there, and there's no law, and people get victimized. You, in your position, were kind of like a policeman for the Internet, and you abused that. You, of all people, should have known better," Blahovec said. "Anybody who heard the kind of stuff that you were putting out there on the Internet to a young child would be sickened and offended." Afterward, Finlay said, "I think the sentence is extremely unfair. I knew it was a police officer the entire time. I plan to appeal, and I have the complete support of my family." Finlay testified at trial that he knew he was chatting online with a police officer, which conflicted with what he said when he was arrested. "I can remember sitting there writing, thinking there's a big, fat, white cop sitting there on the other end with doughnut crumbs dribbling down his suit, seeing what I'm writing and spitting out his coffee," Finlay told the jury. Finlay was arrested on Aug. 22, 2003, at the Hempfield Plaza McDonald's, where prosecutors said he believed he would meet "Kelly," a girl he repeatedly suggested meeting for sex, using e-mail and Internet chat from July 10, 2003, through Aug. 21, 2003. According to police, after Finlay was arrested, he made a few statements. "He said something to the effect of, 'I guess this is a defining moment in my life.' He was scared and upset,'" said state police Cpl. Randall Gardner, a vice unit supervisor at the Greensburg barracks. Later, police said a more formal interview took place, and "he admitted he was in contact with (Kelly), and he was sorry." Finlay was employed at the university's CERT center, which works with law enforcement agencies such as the FBI and Secret Service, as well as government agencies including the Department of Defense, to protect computer networks against hackers, viruses and worms. He was fired shortly after his arrest, Finlay said yesterday. Finlay also was ordered to report his address to police, undergo sex offender's treatment and complete a consecutive five years' probation once his parole or jail sentence concludes. What a fucking trip that place is. It's like a throwback to the early 50s and not in a good way. I think my favorite moment out of my brief time there was getting into an argument with some ignorant hillbilly student there who was literally arguing about how Abraham Lincoln was an awful president. It's like a throwback to the early 50s and not in a good way. Go sit in a book store sometime and find Al Franken's "Lies..." book. Don't worry, it won't make you a lefty just by touching it. Find someplace to sit nearby and turn to page 261 and read chapter 31, "I'm A Bad Liar." It's about Franken's trip to Bob Jones where he was basically going in to make fun of people and write jokes about the idiots he encounters. He kind of feels pangs of guilt through the whole thing and in the end sorta-kinda thanks the people there for putting up with him. I think my favorite moment out of my brief time there was getting into an argument with some ignorant hillbilly student there who was literally arguing about how Abraham Lincoln was an awful president.
