Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2005 The Strike, period. Nothing else comes close. It destroyed the Expos who were about to make the playoffs for the first time since 1981. The only good thing that came out of it was that we got to say the Blue Jays were World Champions for another year despite absolutely stinking in 1994. I used to be like alkeiper when it came to baseball, but I just lost interest after that. I know people who still refuse to watch MLB. At least I came back. Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2005 Lets see. The Jets last year losing to the Steelers on two missed Doug Brien kicks. The Yankees blowing a 3-0 series lead to the Red Sox. The Knicks losing in the 1994 NBA Finals, Game 7 to the Houston Rockets. The Knicks blowing a 3-1 lead to the Heat in the 1997 Semi-Conference Finals. The Yankees losing in 5 games to the Mariners in 1995. The Yankees losing to the Diamondbacks in the 2001 World Series in Game 7. The Jets losing to the Broncons in the 1998 AFC Championship game. A series of Reggie Miller moments against the Knicks. That's all for now.
Crimson Platypus 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2005 Personal: Junior year of H.S. football, was playing defensive back, the team we were playing ran an option and it was pouring rain that day so the field was muddy as hell... Anyway I'm sure you can see where this is going, our DE stepped up and made the QB pitch, the RB dipped his shoulder to the inside, I bit, damn I looked like an ass when he walked into the end zone (this was on the ten yard line) while I sat in the mud. Otherwise I'd go with the strike as well, killed my love for baseball, which I am just now slowly regaining.

iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2005 This one's a little different, but for me it would be the 1996 I-AA Championship game. Going in, my hometown Montana Grizzlies were 14-0 and were defending national champions, and we were absolutely sure we were going to win another title. The problem was that the Marshall team we were playing had a couple guys named Chad Pennington and Randy Moss. Needless to say, our corners got lit up like pinball machines the entire game, and we got destroyed. I think the final was something like 49-23, but in reality, it was nowhere near that close. iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2005 Oh, back on heartbreaking I-AA games, in the first round of the 1993 playoffs, the #2 Grizzlies got a touchdown to take a 48-42 lead late in the game, but missed the extra point. Delaware scored a touchdown on the ensuing drive to take the 49-48 lead, but we still had about 40 seconds to come back. However, rather than use their three timeouts, the coaches inexplicably just ran a no-huddle and let the clock run out. That game bothered me for about a whole year afterwards, and to this day, I don't know why they wouldn't use their timeouts in that situation.

Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted April 27, 2005 To keep the defense confused and unable to substitute? It's still stupid, but in an already high-scoring game, I can see some logic out of it.

cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2005 Time for some Kentucky area basketball, more of these are UK than U of L. --Laettner making the shot of course, but it didn't bother me as much as others since Duke was really the better team anyway. --I was always more disgusted with UK losing to Michigan in the 93 FF. I've always found the Fab 5 incredibly overrated and to this day and to this day don't understand how the hell UK didn't own them by 20. UK was just destroying people in that tourney, beating Wake by like 35 and Florida St. by 25, while Michigan was getting lucky as shit every single round. I was sure UK would trash them. --The single most upsetting UK defeat however was the 97 finals loss to Zona. Pitino didn't play Derek Anderson (who had basically recovered from injury but Pitino didn't wanna risk it), and now Lute Olson gets to carry that 1 title to his grave. --As far as U of L goes, I am a bit young to remember the early 80s FF losses. I'm sure if I had been alive in 75 that UCLA game would have about killed me. This year's FF vs. Illinois didn't upset me all that much since they were better. I'd have to say the 1996 Sweet 16 vs. Wake was a truly awful defeat. U of L was up 5 with about 2 mins left and Tim Duncan scored the last 6 points (including getting away with a charge) and Wake won 60-59. It was sickening since U of L would have played UK in the Elite 8 if we'd held on. I ranted after the game "Why the hell did Wake have to win that? They're just going to get murdered by UK now! We would have had a puncher's chance!" And of course UK murdered them the next round and made Duncan look like a little bitch.
CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2005 96 World Cup, 98 Olympic Men's Hockey tie for first overall. Ben Johnson in 88 and The Strike come in a close tie behind. Interestingly, not so much this year's NHL lockout, which I saw coming for about 3 years. 94's was pretty devestating, however.
