I just watched that Piper vs Valentine Dog Collar match last night, and it's awesome. Hulk Hogan vs Mr. T must be the WM 1 Main Event, just misprinted.

However so what if they are previously released on some matches, that small sample of matches is a good collection of matches and thats hardly all of them, It's Nine hours which means there's a good chunk of matches remaining. I love how its split with nwa, wwf and awa stuff. I'll be interested in seeing those other matches but it appears they are actually using legit major matches on this dvd which means you can expect Hogan/Andre WMIII to be on this collection as well.
Guest LooneyTune Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 I always thought the old block logo was allowed, since that logo wasn't part of the agreement with the WWF (the only logo not allowed is the scratch logo) and has been used without blurring on every match using it on recent DVD releases.

Unless you get your DVDs at a place like Suncoast, you shouldn't have to pay more than $30.

I'm already sold on the dvd because I love all those matches so far announced. I'm shocked it's a "serious" dvd, i was expecting an all WWF mid 1980's dvd cluttered with Hogan stuff but they really mixed it up.

THAT might be worth watching even if most of us have already seen the matches themselves. And if they're including guys from AWA, WCCW, NWA, AWA, etc in the matches - the feature should be pretty impressive.

With a specialty DVD like the Flair set, this has a practical purpose because featuring Flair's matches with the likes of Harley Race and Dusty Rhodes can be used as a selling point. With the WMs, is it worth shelling out royalty fees to guys like SD Jones and Buddy Rose when nobody would buy the set to see them? In addition to the fact that they would have to also edit Jesse's commentary off of WMs 1-6 or pay him a large fee, because he's not the kind who would settle for the chump change they offer some of these guys.

Actually, Im pretty sure at some point last year, after the announcment of 24/7, and the success of DVD sales, WWE made an effort to track down a vast majority of the workers featured prominently on old shows and what not, and sent them a fairly generous check, along with a contract waiving their right to sue over royalties.

res37618 Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 I believe they did offer several of the older stars a fairly good "up front" check for royalties on any upcoming projects. Plus, Jesse's commentary only has to be edited from WCW matches, or any WWF matches that have never been released on home video in the past. They came to a mutual agreement sometime in the last couple of years that has made the WWF stuff "OK" (don't know why they couldn't agree on WCW stuff). The only editing I can see for WM's 1-13 would be any spoken references of the initials "WWF", which are honestly few and far between. It was almost always spoken out as World Wrestling Federation by announcers and wrestlers alike. WM 14 was the rather humble beginning of the new WWF scratch logo, and WM's 15-21 are already on DVD, so they wouldn't need to be re-released. They've got to know there is a demand for this stuff on DVD, so I'm sure it'll happen sometime . . . won't it? Please?

If it is a fake, then that does not mean that the DVD is fake...it's available for pre-order now... sman, where did you find this ad?

Easy solutions to all the questions.
