LessonInMachismo Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 Samples from Cena's album: http://www.wwe.com/superstars/smackdown/john_cena/index.jsp
Dimensions Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 Eh, they're ok, the beats aren't as cool as Basic Thuganomics or Time is now.
Kizzo Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 As a fan of hip hop.....I didn't think John Cena could write a good hip hop album...but I must say listening to those tracks........I kind of liked it...
Guest Brian Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 Cena has good flow, but the beats leave something to be desired.
Boon Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 I'm not a big fan of hip hop, but being from Boston, I enjoyed "Beantown." It ain't terrible, like Rock's attempt at music.
Guest LooneyTune Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 I may hate John Cena's "wrestling" ability, but if I'm dumb enough to buy that WWE Originals CD (cries), I guess I can drop $13 on this thing.
Lightning Flik Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 Its not bad really. At least my ears didn't bleed like I was thinking they would when I was listening.
Guest LooneyTune Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 He's got nothing on Macho Man. Is that a compliment or an insult? I don't think anything can be worse than Macho Man's "Rap" album.
claydude14 Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 I loved 'Be a Man'; Macho's album. I'm sure I'll love this too. Guess I'm just a mark
Da Maintenance Man Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 Looks like it might be a decent album. I unfortunately don't think Cena has much of a future in hip-hop due to the fact that's he's a wrestler and the hip-hop community as a whole just doesn't take wrestling seriously. The only people that'll be buying this album will be WWE fans sadly.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 I'm not a big fan of hip hop, but being from Boston, I enjoyed "Beantown." It ain't terrible, like Rock's attempt at music. Did the Rock do anything besides that crappy song about Pie?
ChrisMWaters Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 I'm not a big fan of hip hop, but being from Boston, I enjoyed "Beantown." It ain't terrible, like Rock's attempt at music. Did the Rock do anything besides that crappy song about Pie? Yeah. His entrance music over the years.
The Niggardly King Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 I predict half of the buys will come from fans who only want it for "The Time is Now."
UZI Suicide Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 Those lyrics actually are pretty good, his beats are terrible though.
Brett Favre Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 I've heard far worse beats from better rappers. I was expecting some really horrible beats. They're fine.
RavishingRickRudo Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 Those were pretty bad. The only one I like is the one he uses as his entrance music, the rest were generic early-mid 90's stuff.
SuperJerk Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 I'm not a big fan of hip hop, but being from Boston, I enjoyed "Beantown." It ain't terrible, like Rock's attempt at music. Did the Rock do anything besides that crappy song about Pie? He had a guest vocal on a Wyclef Jean song.
Guest hsg090281 Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 Cena's theme song opening is IDENTICAL to "the funeral" from clipse ft. neptunes.
Precious Roy Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 The beats have some potential, but they're not very original, or fully realized. Better than what some mainstream rappers have on their records? Probably, but mainstream rap is 90% garbage. For something released by the WWE I guess it's better than I had any right to expect, but still, it's a WWE rap record, just hollow product
claydude14 Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 I predict half of the buys will come from fans who only want it for "The Time is Now." Yea that's the main selling point for me. I've been a fan of the song since he debuted it.
Jericholic82 Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 I'm not a big fan of hip hop, but being from Boston, I enjoyed "Beantown." It ain't terrible, like Rock's attempt at music. LOL I knew you would. Despite that I like Cena more now, mostly cuz he mentioned my original Hometown of Yonkers, NY during his MSG promo. lol
