UZI Suicide Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 You know, those wacky "insider" newsboard sites where pretty much everything posted on there is total lies and BS. Each of these sites usually had a section for "News and Rumors" a section for "Babes" and a section for shit like Wrestler's real names, etc. The headlines were usually "STEPHANIE MCMAHON TO GET TOPLESS NEXT MONDAY ON RAW...CLICK HERE TO READ MORE!1!!!!" Are any sites like this still around anymore? I figured it would be funny to go and read some of the shit they post on there now that I'm a bit older and no longer a totally gullible dumbass who believes everything I read.
Guest LooneyTune Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 How about "Bret Hart to lead Invasion" or "Sting/HHH at Wrestlemania X-8"?
UZI Suicide Posted May 2, 2005 Author Report Posted May 2, 2005 haha yeah, those were good. I also liked "Butch Reed set to join NOD!", "Shawn Michaels on RAW tonight"(every week) , "<insert name here> to join nWo tonight"
haws bah gawd Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 My favorite ever was off Wrasslin.com, it said: <<<<Trish Stratus....CaUghT putting a WHAT?!?!?....in her huh?!?!????...WE HAVE PICS CLICK HERE>>>>> Prowrestling.com still has those bullshit links at the bottom of every article, most of which completely contradict what the article was about.
Carnival Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 I still go to LOP from time to time. I remember thespear.com, wreslteboard.com, pwiwrestling being big. My friends and I ran totalwrestling.net for a total of a couple months then we got sick of it.
Guest Fook Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 My favorite ever was off Wrasslin.com, it said: <<<<Trish Stratus....CaUghT putting a WHAT?!?!?....in her huh?!?!????...WE HAVE PICS CLICK HERE>>>>> Then it ends up being something like her putting cream in her coffee.
syxx2001 Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 I remember when I was 14 I went thru like 5 sites trying to find something, and I emailed the webmaster and asked where what I was looking for, was.
Dobbs 3K Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 I remember when I was 14 I went thru like 5 sites trying to find something, and I emailed the webmaster and asked where what I was looking for, was. Huh?
Dobbs 3K Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 Hey, while we're on the subject of newsboards, how about wrestling newsletters via e-mail? When I first got online in early '96 and started checking out wrestling websites (and there weren't a ton at the time), it seemed like everyone had some kind of newsletter. I used to subscribe to two or three (they were almost always free), and they were usually filled with lots of BS rumors along with news, maybe a couple articles (which were quite often awful), and sometimes a Q&A type section. I even had my own I wrote for a while, mainly for fun, that lasted for like a month before I realized how much work it could be to write all that info. Are there still things like this anymore?
JoeDirt Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 My favorite ever was off Wrasslin.com, it said: <<<<Trish Stratus....CaUghT putting a WHAT?!?!?....in her huh?!?!????...WE HAVE PICS CLICK HERE>>>>> That is the greatest thing I've ever read. Wrestlezone has some funny stuff up now about Stacey Keibler getting fined for wearing jeans too tight and RAW is going to be cancelled. CLICK HERE~!~!
Jericholic82 Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 ah the ubiquitous newboards. Prowrestling.com (aka The Internet Wrestling Zone) was the first news site I ever went to and was where I basically learned about insider stuff and terms and turned me into a smark. Back in those days 98-99 the site was pretty good, though some flase rumors got posted there alot. I used to write a column while in high school for a cheap site with a lame newsboard, but I had alot of fun doing it.
Some Guy Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 I started out going to a site called LPNewboard or something like that. All the news was followed with "credit 411." It's funnier in hindisght.
UZI Suicide Posted May 3, 2005 Author Report Posted May 3, 2005 I just remembered my favorite one...7wrestling.com, ran by some guy named "7Pac"..that one just had every typical newsboard thing on it you can possibly imagine. It was the epitome of corny.
Dobbs 3K Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 I remember this one...I can't remember the name of it or the guy who ran it, but it was this big fat black guy, and he had this hillarious picture of himself wearing a jacket and like, spreading his arms out and laughing or something. It was really weird. I remember one time he put up a picture of Chris Benoit along with Brookly Brawler and Barry Horowitz and it was captioned with "the best jobbers in wrestling...it's true", or something. OK, it seemed funny at the time.
Eclipse Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 Oh man, I remember those sites. I remember one site had a HUGE explanation to a future storyline. I remember seeing some that Scott Hall was to wrestle at WM2000 in a ladder match, crap like that.
Jericholic82 Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 IWZ kept running every week a rumor that dean malenko would be returning to nitro to confront jericho every week for the time he was gone in 98 untill he finalyl showed up at slamboree. however I also found out there that the warrior was negotiating with wcw and they did say the morning of his debut that he would be there.
spman Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 yeah, back in 97 and 98, IWZ was pretty mu8ch the only site ont he interent to get wrestling news. At that time I believe it was run by some guy who called himself Zandar or Zordon or something like that. Around 1998, the website www.iwrestling.com split off and I believe that was run by a guy who called himself sushi-x, my memory is hazy from there but I do believe 1wrestling eventually sprung from this, but yeah, www.prowrestling.com was the grandfather of internet wrestling news.

IWZ was the first site I vsited regualrly for wrestling news and rumors, so I remember it fondly.
Art Sandusky Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 I didn't even have the internet until 2000, so I went to 1wrestling.com initially after seeing ads for it in WOW Magazine. I also went to LatestWrestlingNews.com, which was a straight-up news site that didn't have the trappings of those links at the bottoms of the articles and had a fabulous layout.
Eclipse Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 Didn't Sushi-X end up working at Electronic Gaming Monthly? I remember the site that I went to was www.wrestlewire.com That site later shutdown. It had reliable news on it to...
