After watching the original trilogy again something I picked up in the Star Wars universe is always take an R2 unit with you as you can break into ANYWHERE with one of them apparently.

 

R2-D2 is arguably the most important character in the entire series.

I'd like to see an animated version of "Shadows" and events that happend between Eps 4 and 5, such as the hero's run-in with the bounty hunter on Ord Mandell.

 

Also, it would be cool to see another animated series that focuses on the bounty hunters. Everyone knows they're totally bad ass. Boba, Bossk, IG-88, etc etc.

I definetly laughed out loud at the "NOOOOOOOOO". It really doesn't get much better than that scene.

As you can see....you can't bring in James Earl Jones to do a cameo in a teen angst movie.

Lets break it down all the important stuff he does:

-Saves the Naboo starship which was carrying: Padme, Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon at that point.

-The R2 Unit for Anakin when he destroys the Trade Federation ship shutting down the Droids, Anikin is unlikely to have succeded without him.

-Opens every door that impedes their process along the way anywhere in the universe with little to no resistance.

-Communicates with other computers to gain valuable information, such as the Falcons Hyperdrive unit being shut down.

-An integral part of the plan to rescue Han.

 

I'm sure theres many others I can't think of right now as well.

From what I remember when Lucas was talking about a 7,8,9 it was supposed to end, from what I heard, with C3-PO closing the cover of a book like he was telling the entire story. Don't know about R2 but he is always with C3 anyway.

Well C3P0 would be the one to do the actual telling of the story as not many would understand r2....plus he'd need R2 to tell him everything that happened in Ep. 1-3 as C3P0 got his memory erased

R2 is also the narrator of the saga: a hundred years after the battle of Endor, he recounts the story to a Shaman of the Whills, who includes it in the Journal of the Whills. This book is what the saga is based on.

 

R2 always had an eye witness account to pretty much every important event in the entire saga. He remained with Anakin through almost all of PT, and than with Luke in the OT. So C3PO would only translating what R2 is saying.

Maybe R2 has an exagerated sense of self importance and embelishs the whole saga in his favor which is why he looks so good throughout all the films?

 

I'm not sure I like the idea of it being narrated by the droids though.

I guess is the story is being told so far into the future that the non droids would obviously be dead. Never really knew the saga was essentially a "camp fire tail".

Obi-Wan ages pretty damn quickly in those 20 years. End of Episode III he's still a pretty young man. Early thirtys maximum. Then 20 years later bam he looks 60 something. The years weren't kind to him, must of been the harsh Tantooine weather that did it.

So I saw the movie (and didn't have to pay since it was my birthday and friends are cool like that) and I have to say that this thread really hyped me up for something I didn't think was as awesome as I had hoped... or maybe it was. It was a lot of movie to digest and I left satisfied, but I left Eps I and II satisified as well. Either way I am positive that I did enjoy this film and would recommend it.

 

The "nooo" was not as bad as y'all had me thinking. I had actually told my friends to look out for the word "no" spoken in a away that was not meant to be funny would many people thought was hilarious. I didn't tell them what character I read said the line so they thought the line being refered to was Palpatine's string of no's in his struggle with Mace Windu

Well...we don't know actually how old Obi-Wan is in that time.

 

I'm guessing he was...eh...let's say 25 in Ep I.

 

10 years to Ep II makes him 35.

 

3 years later to Ep III makes him 38.

 

Then in about 20 years to Ep IV would make him about 58.

I would of thought he'd of been a younger than 25, Jedis start training at such a young age I would of thought he'd of been through the trials and made an official knight sometime before then. Maybe I'm under estimating how long it takes.

 

Obi-Wan does seem about the right age now its been laid out like that for me to see the year gaps in between the films.

I'm thinking you are underestimating.

 

Anakin was made a knight earlier than usual probably because of the war and the need for knights.

 

Obi-Wan between Padawan and Knighthood didn't have that to worry about.

THEY say Ewan was born in 71...so anywhere between 25 and 28 would be right for Obi-Wan's age in Ep I, if you ask me.
