The Yankees should bring back Rickey Henderson.

I'm serious.

rickey_henderson_mvp.jpg

Rickey Henderson thinks the Yankees should bring back Rickey Henderson. Rickey Henderson isn't joking. Rickey Henderson can add a lot to a team, a certain thing that only Rickey Henderson can provide. Rickey Henderson loves baseball, always has, always will. There are 30-year-old guys that are in worse shape than Rickey Henderson. Let me call Rickey Henderson to talk this over with Rickey Henderson.

Rickey Henderson? Are you there? It's me! You! Rickey Henderson!

AND THAAAT'S THE RICKEY HENDERSON BIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!!!!!

Man, Sosa breaks the O's dry spell by hitting a two-run triple in a 1-0 game. Why couldn't he ever do that sort of stuff with the Cubs? He would've K'd trying to slug one out of the park.

And good thing the Jays played by the book and walked Raffie to get to Javy Lopez so they could get that righty/righty matchup. Now it's 5-1 O's and what was a great outing by Halladay has turned into a wash.

Terry Ryan finally let the Twins bring Tiffee up and that useless slug Corky Miller was sent packing. A LH bat would of been nice against K-Rod, and I guess Bob Wickman even though Fatty LeCroy swung at two balls out of the strikezone on a 3-1 count, with Mauer on deck.

Well, that loss sure sucked. Double whammy, too, for my fantasy team, as Halladay's ERA goes from 0.00 to over 6 for the day in just a few pitches.

"My other problem is people who misuse the word literally. Because when you misuse literally, you're using it in the exact fucking opposite way it was meant to be used. It's not like penultimate and ultimate, where you're just off by one. You completely fucked up. And the worst offenders are sportscasters:

HE LITERALLY RIPPED HIS HEAD OFF ON THAT PLAY!

...no he didn't. That's not right. You shouldn't be paid to sit in front of a microphone and describe things. And then my friend was like 'Dude, I LITERALLY shit my pants.' So I said 'well what did you do with them?' 'I said, I literally shit my pants!' 'No, no, I mean, what did you do with your shitty pants?'"

I think Jason Giambi has created a new defenition for being the worst hitter ever.

Honestly, in all truth, the guy strikes out EVERY SINGLE AB. No joke, look at his game logs. EVERYONE. The guy cannot make contact. Hes either walked or K'd in 41 of his 69 ABs.

I'm SO FUCKIN GLAD I get to watch the BoSox tonight. One bad thing about living in NY is that I only get to watch them on ESPN and on YES when they play the Yanks.

The walks do not count in the at bat tally, so that is slightly misleading. I do not know what is sadder. That Giambi's hitting so bad, or that his OPS is still better than Jorge Posada, Hideki Matsui, Bernie Williams, and Tony Womack.

From ESPN.com

May. 3 - Johnny Damon, who's in the final year of his contract with the Red Sox, wants a five-year deal. If he is not presented with a tantalizing enough contract from the Sox or one of five other teams he would consider playing for, he may decide to call it quits, the Boston Herald reports.

"I am so good and happy with my life, what's going to be wrong if I get to see my kids every day, get to be in warm weather, get to have the summer?" Damon told the newspaper. "I've got five more years of good performances but I also think I've done all right with money – I think I'm good – but having the chance to be around my kids and participate in that stuff, that wouldn't be a bad thing."

His primary goal remains re-signing with Boston, but nothing is likely to happen before the offseason. If he and the team cannot agree on a deal, Damon will consider an NL squad.

"The Red Sox are the No. 1 team obviously for me but I know there would be a handful of teams I would consider," said Damon. "If the Red Sox don't want me, obviously I'm going to be looking at a few big areas. It would be tough to play for the Yankees but it's not a definite 'no' but it would be tough because my heart belongs in Boston."

I'm sure the Yankees are glad they brought Cano up now...he just muffed an easy toss to Jeter that would've started a big double play. Instead, the Rays scored 2 and have taken a 4-2 lead.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA.

Why is it that the AAA team can tag Jae Seo for four runs, and the big club can not touch him?

Me and Al could be drinking buddies if we lived closer.

Meanwhile, with two outs, Barrett pops up a ball that should be caught, but it's dropped. But Ramirez and Barrett don't bother to run much and so it's only first and third. Brewers color man REALLY ripped into everyone for that. Speaking of them, I actually think they're one of the better duos I've heard. And as I type that, Hollandsworth bloops a single into the outfield to plate the first run.

From Barry's own website. He's 41...coming off 3 knee surgeries, and now he's getting out of shape. Done forever?

PS: My furniture is nicer than Barry's.

Jeter should show leadership by giving David Ortiz a bottle of meds, since Ortiz can't read them because he doesn't speak english.

Brad Lidge got lit up as the Astros lose 6-4. Clemens gives up only 2 ER's again in 7 innings; his ERA is a mere 1.29 and he's only got 1 win in six starts.

Pirates are 4-1 against Houston this season thus far.

Brewers now have a six game win streak going (best in baseball, if I'm not mistaken) and are at .500 even. Go Brew Crew!

Nice to see the Yankees lost, to boot!

With that win, the Brew Crew moves into second place. An interesting stat from tonight's game: the Cubs' BA with RISP and two outs is around .180. I torture myself.

Nick Johnson and Juan Rivera for Javier Vazquez.

Juan Rivera didn't have a spot, their outfield was full with Matsui, Bernie, and Sheffield. Nick Johnson wasn't getting that much playing time behind Giambi who is locked in FOREVER and whoever was DHing at that time.

Plus, Vazquez was traded for Randy Johnson.

I think the trade worked out fine.

The point is that it is another example of the Yankees dealing prospects in return for "ready now" players, trying to make a run at a World Championship. And now they are paying the price, because they could use Juan Rivera, they could use Nick Johnson, and hell, they could even use Randy Choate. Meanwhile, Vazquez's inability to pitch effectively cost the Yankees the ALCS, and now Randy Johnson is on the DL, and the Yankees are paying HIM for the next three years.

Fun note from the 2003 Baseball Prospectus, concerning Nick Johnson....

"But a good sophomore seaspm os a must if he wants to avoid growing up to be a Washington Expo."

Johnson went on to hit .284/.422/.472 for the Yankees that year, but was traded to Montreal anyway.

The Yankees were doomed before Vazquez took the mound in Game 7.

Vazquez didn't start Game 7, and came into the game in an impossible situation. He was a HR-prone pitcher against a HR-prone team, comes in with the sacks packed, and gives up a granny. Game blown open, series over, history in the books. Vazquez helped Brown finish the least clutch pitching performance I've ever seen, but he was dead in the water coming into the situation.

Oh my poor Yanks. This si the worst possible time to have two innured pitchers. Just what we needed.

Something has to give here and it might be an explosive give.

whatever I am A Yanks fan for life. I lived thru the 80s, I remember 1990, I can deal with this.

and it seems like more people hate the yanks now then they did when they actually won the ws. watsupwitdat? (In Hurricane voice)

MY ideas: Kevin Brown and Tom Gordon, and whatever his name from tonight should be sent in a rocket ship to the sun.

GO NY GO NY GO

STILL THE GREATEST CITY OF THEM ALL
