I cant explain why, but I've always loved the Sutters. Still can't explain why I hate Derian Hatcher.

Manny Ramirez. Even with his less-than-superb outfielding, he's a player that enjoys the game and just has fun with it. Most of the time, he has a goofy/silly grin on his face and the day that he got his American citizenship was a nice moment.

 

Hate:

 

Roger Clemens. Don't get me wrong, he's probably one of the top ten best pitchers ever, but I'll never forget his crappy last four years with the Red Sox and glaring at Danny Duke upon his return to Fenway.

 

 

For no reason:

 

Love: Torii Hunter, Tim Hudson, Larry Walker

 

Hate: Miguel Tejada, Cal Ripken, Ken Griffey's son

I got love for Favre, only real athlete I really could say I love to watch and admire as a person and team leader.

I can't really say I hate anyone in sports, but I strongly dislike Randy Moss and Shaq.

 

 

Also, I think it bears mentioning that this is kind of a silly topic, since I believe you can't really judge a person on what you perceive through the media. This goes for celebrities as well as athletes, so to love or hate someone based on the kind of person they might seem like they are is kind of silly. Which is why I was indifferent to HHH as long as he was putting on good matches.

I've got this weird love for Jason Marquis. I went out and purchased him back when I had MVP 2004 and made him my starting pitcher. Was my favorite pitcher, had a 25-5 season and an ERA of 1.26, WHIP of like 0.87.

 

Watched the real guy and the love sorta stuck. Really silly, I know, but he's probably the only guy I'm really estatic about in any sport.

I can't stand Favre, and really don't know why. He just bugs the shit out of me. When he threw the pick in sudden death of the 4th and 26 game I could not have been happier. (well part of that was the Eagles completing the win, but still)

Well, none of mine are for no reason at all, but all are really small/petty reasons ... and mine are NHL only.

 

Love:

Nick Boynton: when he was a rookie he jumped & fought a much bigger & stronger Keith Primeau to protect a teammate ... gotta respect that.

Jeremy Roenick & Brett Hull: one of these two should retire today, and replace Bettman tomorrow ... I like them both more for their personalities than for their superstar skill levels.

PJ Stock: 5'9", 180 lbs and fighting guys 8" taller and 70 lbs heavier. His brawls with Peat were the best fights of the last 5 years.

Ken Belanger: Got game misconducts in the 1st period of his first 2 Bruins games, and was drastically underused for his skill level. I'm uber-pissed that his career got ended so quickly. I still wear my custom "Belanger 16" Bruins sweater more than my Bourque 77 one.

 

Hate:

Mike Ribeiro: that whole flounder incident in last year's playoffs; it's shit like that that's ruining the game ... well, would be ruining the game if there was a season to ruin

Donald Brashear: my least favorite hockey player of all time, yes, even worse than Claude Lemeiux & Ulfie Samuelson. The whole McSorley thing was bad enough, but then to watch him chicken out of dropping the gloves with players that he dwarfed was an embarassment to the game.

Kris Draper: that whole McCarty/Lemieux war should have been HIS battle but he instead sent his bigger buddy to go fight Claude ... why chickenshit out of fighting Lemieux?!?
