hmmm... only 8 games today, will at least the Mets are playing and hopefully they can get some revenge on the Reds because of Opening friggin' Day.

Also predicting the Red Sox will sweep the A's and Yankees will get above .500 today.

Giambi HAVING to play costs the Yankees, as Bernies old ass can't catch a fly ball Matsui would have had easy, leading to two runs.

There's a law that both players have to play at the same time?

Well, because Giambi HAS to get these ABS in to see if he can still hit, which he hasn't shown, Womack, whos hitting over .300 on the trip has to sit. and because Giambi can't play D for his life, he HAS to DH, which means Bernie has to play center.

Here's a crazy thought. Since Matsui is a better defender than Bernie, they could play MATSUI in center, and move Bernie to left.

Of course, these are also the same minds who thought Jeter was a better shortstop than Alex Rodriguez.

Thats what I'm wondering.

How hard can it be to move from CF to LF? And actually, Bernie shouldn't even BE playing tonight, hes already left runners on 1st and 2nd with two outs TWICE.

Sele has six walks, and we have one damn run. On the bright side, Wang looks teriffic again so far.

A's actually take advantage of a bases loaded situation, Eric Chavez gets three hits, and Octavio Dotel doesn't blow a save (although he tried really hard) against the Red Sox. Truly a night of miracles!

Question: How is it that Robinson Cano's average is .325, and is on base is actually lower, at .317?

Edit: Oh, by the way, Bernie hit a grand slam tonight and the Yankees won 6-3.

Cause Sac. Flies. They count against your OBP, but they don't count in your batting average. Over a whole season most hitters wont have that many sac flies for this to remain, but it has happened before.

Marlon Byrd went 3-4 with a double last night. Some broadcaster commented on how the change of scenery seems to have helped. Of course, having a manager who will pencil you in the starting lineup, leave you there, and not trade you for Endy F'n Chavez seems to help as well.

you know with all the ranting about giambi and bernie and such, lost in all this is the fact that the Yanks are on fire right now. Can we give them some credit as opposed to insulting some players and wondering a bunch of stuff? Besides The real defensive problem is Womack adjusting to LF.

Lost in the win was the fact that they left like a ton of men on base. Thank the stars for Bernie's just made it over the wall slam.

Wang already looks 100 percent better than Jaret Wright (though beating the as and mariners is not a big vitcory these days I suppose)

Go Yanks!!!!!!!!!!

You do know that 5 games back with 130+ more games to play means nothing?

Hell, in the last 9 days, nine freaking days, we've made up 4 games.

The real problem is that a punchless middle infielder is playing left field in the first place. They could call up any outfielder from Colombus and get better production.

Im just reacting to the fact that I turned on Sportscenter and the first thing I hear is "What the Yankees need to do to win the World Series"

How about A) Get out of 4th place and B)Actually play the teams within your own division better?

And yes I know that its May 17th..but it just pissed me off that everyone is writing the O's off and yet they have (tied for) the 2nd best record in baseball through just about 25% of the season, which is supposedly the litmus test for how well a team will do through the rest of the season, and I have to listen to everyone in the media trample all over each other to be the first to say that the Yankees are back and making their move back to first place based on nothing but a 9 game winning streak vs 2 teams with a combined 30-46 record that only got them from 5th place to 4th place.

Its absolutely rediculous!

But its not MUCH different than from before. Bernie was in CF, and Womack was at 2nd. Now, Womacks in left. Sure, hes not a typical LF, and his offensive isn't good enough for him to stay there. BUT, the hitting they've gotten from Cano + the offesnsive they've gotten from Womack has in my opinion been better than Womack at 2nd and Bernie in CF. Honestly, I believe your right Al.

But just like with the Giambi situation, there paying Womack, and unless they just release him, hes going to play.

Womack stole 4 bases in a game twice this week. He is pretty much all the Yankees have going for them as far as speed goes, besides maybe Jeter, so he is going to play as much as they can fit him in for.

If you let A-Rod run he can take some bases

Not sure if this is true, but somebody in a fantasy baseball draft just told me that the Cubs announced during the game Wood would be closer when he comes back.

Is this true?
