NBA Eastern Conference Finals

Recommended Posts

One sad thing about tonight will be that this is the last TNT broadcast for this season. TNT is head and shoulders above ESPN and ABC in broadcasting games. They have the best pre and post show hosts in Barkly, Kenny Smith, and Ernie Johnson and I really like the Kerr/Collins/Albert combo during the ECF. Very effective broadcasting crew from top to bottom.

personally i've developed a fondness for "Kenny's Pictures". Usually analysts just blather on and pick random plays. Kenny's Pix usually seem actually relevant to why the score of the game is what it is and why the winning team is winning.

TNT owns ESPN and ABC.

Figures. I thought the game started @ 9.

So I missed the first quarter.

Why is no one posting about this game? Not only is it the deciding game of the conference finals, it's a damn good game as well. D-Wade's stepping it up in crunch time, as is Shaq, and they're 11 minutes away from dethroning the defending champs.

Sometimes I really hate the fact that I dont get near enough NBA. Looks like an amazing game.

Nice... Pistons prevent Zo from a title. Don't worry though Miami, without the injuries and with just a little more experience, I have no doubt they'll win a title very soon.

BTW... that time where Joey Crawford ran into Damon Jones and then Joey called the foul on Billups was ridiculous.

Excellent Game 7. You can really see where the poise and being a team together longer really helped the Pistons. The Heat took some pretty bad shots in the final 2 minutes when Shaq wasn't shooting.

We are in for a kick ass Finals.

What a game! What a game! All drama.

This reminded me a lot of Game 1. Essentially it came down to poise and mental toughness in the final two minutes, this is where experience really helps.

I'm so glad I dont have to see a Shaq final (again). I'm pumped for Detroit/SA, best defenses, last two NBA champs, plus I get to see lots of bitching from the defense-haters which always amuses me. Brown v Popvich.

Like someone said earlier in this thread... Detroit vs San Antonio, the basketball Gods demanded it!!!

Spurs vs Pistons... I don't care what all of you haters think, this will ruled as we can see two defending champions of the last two or three years (which makes it more like a old-school Celtics-Lakers finals).

Two years. The three before that were Laker championships.

And these Finals feature the last two teams to stop the Lakers from getting a championship, so I could care less who wins here, really. Both of them deserve it for beating the #1 seeds in their conference.

I said it and it's fucking true! This finals will rule all.

I think it was Todd Wright on ESPN radio was saying that the Pistons have a better chance of beating SA than Miami.

Oh and I really wish people would quit bringing in the "This series won't draw!" shit. It's a fucking competitive sport. It isn't the WWE. We aren't trying to put on the best match that draws ratings. They play the games and to see who wins. It's not fixed so they can't get the best drawing match. Jesus.

Sometimes it's fixed so they can get the best drawing match. See game 6 of Lakers vs. Kings and game 7 of Lakers vs. Portland for examples.

So it was fixed that Portland blew a 15 point lead in the 4th quarter in 2000 in game seven against the Lakers?

There's a lot of shady calls in a lot of NBA games. Few sports are as shittily officiated as NBA games are.

See game 6 of Lakers vs. Kings...

Check out Game 5 of that series going in the Kings favor.

2 things:

--It's nice to see Fatboy lose and give me vindication as a Kobe fan. Miami went for broke this year and failed. They'll get a maximum of two more effective years from Fatboy. Heat fans should be glad Riley didn't throw Wade into the Laker trade, but mad that the trade happened at all.

--Steve Kerr is the best analyst by far.

It'll all be for moot if they get rid of either Butler or Odom, both of whom keep popping up in trade rumors. They need a coach who'll develop their own style of play and work to their strengths, as well as upgrade at the PG and C positions, along with their bench (if there's one thing the Suns proved this postseason, it's certainly that).

Question is, does anyone think Miami has a shot at repeating the success they had this year? Detroit might get taken down a notch if Larry Brown leaves (which he probably will), Indiana won't have Reggie anymore, but they've still got a great team without him with Jermaine, Jackson, Tinsley, and maybe the return of Artest? The Wiz and Bulls seem like they can only get better, if the Bulls don't get completely dismantled and the Wiz change their "SHOOT THE BALL RIGHT AWAY!" philosophy. I don't see much changing in the East's playoff picture except for maybe Lebron helping to get the Cavs in the playoffs, maybe knocking out Jersey or Philly in the process.

Miami missed an opportunity this year. I think it's fairly obvious who's coming out of the East next year.

No Stephon Marbury team will ever make it past the opening round. Marbury espically now is way too greey and is a horrible desicion maker.

I wasn't serious, but Marbury is one of the most misunderstood players in the league. Last year he went through halfs without taking more than 5 shots; he usually only looks for his shot when the team sucked ass, and that was the case last year. When he gets help like the rest of the top PGs in the league (Bibby - Webber/Stojakovic, Nash - Amare/JJ/Marion, Arenas - Hughes/Jamison, Kidd - Carter/Jefferson), then he'll be able to make some noise in the playoffs. I mean look at the Knick starting five. Other than Marbury, the rest of the guys are bench players on a good team.

I agree, they have no big man what so ever. Kurt Thomas is above average at best, and he is the only player playing with heart. I still think Marbury needs become more of a pure point guard, instead of show off. He does have Jamal Crawford who has a mean jump shot and can be a deadly scorer, but Marbury needs to stop being greedy and pass the ball to Crawford more.
