Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2005 The Associated Press Updated: 8:21 a.m. ET May 24, 2005 PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. - Lionel Tate, the youngest person in modern U.S. history to be sentenced to life in prison, has been arrested after a pizza delivery man said the teenager pointed a gun at him. advertisement Tate, now 18, was being held early Tuesday at the Broward County Jail on charges of armed robbery and armed burglary with battery. He was serving probation following his release on a guilty plea to second-degree murder in the beating death of a 6-year-old family friend when he was 12. Tate called in a pizza order Monday from a friend’s apartment and pointed a gun at the delivery man when he arrived, said Broward sheriff’s spokeswoman Elizabeth Calzadilla-Fiallo. The man dropped the pizzas and called police after returning to the restaurant. The man returned to the apartment complex with deputies, saw Tate in the area and identified him as the suspect, said Calzadilla-Fiallo. No gun was recovered. ‘Shocked and appalled’ Attorney Richard Rosenbaum, who has represented Tate, told The Associated Press that Tate and his mother called him as he was being arrested. “I heard he jacked a pizza delivery guy, which I can’t believe happened,” Rosenbaum said. “I’m shocked and appalled.” Tate made headlines when he was charged with first-degree murder in the killing of Tiffany Eunick. He was convicted in 1999 and sent to prison for life without chance of parole. He won a new trial on appeal and went free in January 2004 under a deal that placed him under house arrest for a year followed by probation for 10 years. Tate first claimed Tiffany was injured when he imitated wrestling moves that he saw on television. He changed his story years later and said he accidentally killed Tiffany when he jumped on her from a staircase while his mother was baby-sitting the girl. Tate weighed 160 pounds; Tiffany weighed about 50. He was arrested in September for violating probation by being out of his home overnight after an argument with his mother. A judge added another five years to the 10 years Tate had left on the original probation. Source: msnbc So what do you think should happen to him? I don't think this will carry out a huge sentence, but just for violating his parole or whatever, and pointing a gun at someone after God (or Ganesh, or the Universal Consciousness whatever you believe) gave him a second chance at life for completely fucking up initially, I'd say the sentence should be pretty heavy. Who didn't see this happening really?

Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2005 I will add that while I asked who didn't see this happening, when he first left jail, I didn't think that he would do something like this again. I knew he was still a murderer and didn't think he was rehabilitated, but I thought that after the HUGE break in life that he got especially considering what he did, that he would be smart enough not to get in any more trouble. Boy was I wrong.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2005 I'd be shocked but I'm not. I didn't think he was smart enough to realize the break he got and his mother screaming how his release was justice served didn't help matters. They should have been honest with him, you got a huge second chance now don't blow it instead they treated it like his release was the perfect ending to the story. He killed, he barely got a tap on the wrist so I am not one bit shocked he would try something like this. I'm just grateful the little monster didn't shoot the person. It's time to put him back for awhile, at least for five years and go from there.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2005 I'm not shocked at all. He was able to murder someone and pin it on something else. He was able to beat a girl to death and blame wrestling. We all knew he was a piece of shit from the beginning. He was just in gun trouble a couple of years ago wasn't he? Some people are just shit and should be executed. Guest gameplayer Report post Posted May 25, 2005 perhaps a life sentence is incredibly stiff. 60 years or more in prison is a very long time, although its very doubtful he will serve anywhere near that long. he should be sentenced according to the nature of his crime, as are our laws, and his juvenile record should not count. that being said, prisons never reform anybody, and the few who do come out better people reform themselves. But i agree that he should be punished.

If you say yes, go watch the trial, you want to talk about remorseless....his only concern was himself, hell thats why he killed her, IIRC.
