I hope whoever gets the No. 1 pick doesn't blow it on Bogut (unless its the Jazz). I just see Mike Olowokandi all over again with this guy.

Watch the NBA rig the draft lottery and have the Lakers miraculously get the #1 pick.

:D

I don't think there's anyway the Lakers can get the #1 pick without everyone screaming BULLSHIT....

I don't think Bogut will be much more than average at best. He's not athletic enough IMO. He's the most fundamentally sound of the top 3 (Bogut, Paul, Williams) however. If the Lakers do end up in the top 3, they would be best off with Chris Paul. Williams has the better upside, but they already have a logjam at his frontcourt swingman position (Odom, Butler, Walton, George, Medvedenko)

I agree but it certaintly is beliveable that they end up with a top five pick though.

I completely agree with this. People will still scream bloody fix if they end up with 2 or 3 as well. (since they can only finish either 1-3 or where they are fixated now, which would be 10th)

The way the lottery works is they draw for the top 3 picks. After those are drawn, the rest of the draft is set by how the team finished in regular season. Hence my post above in that the Lakers can only get picks 1-3 or 10th.

So who do you guys see going in the Top 5?

Didn't Orlando "win" the lottery against insurmountable odds and everyone cried BULLSHIT?

Not really.

It was changed in 1994 to the current system of 1,000 balls. From 1990-1993, it was 66 balls; the worst record had 11 balls, second worst 10 balls, and so on. In 1992, the Magic had 10 balls, although we can call their 1993 lottery "blind luck", since they had only one ball in that draw.

The odds of the Magic winning the 1993 lottery were equivalent to the Knicks winning this year's lottery, which isn't a reach at all.

I wonder who the Blazers will pick. I mean, No. 3 is way too high for Pierre Pierce, and I can't think of any other token head cases who are really high on the board. Rashad McCants, perhaps?

They're predicting Sean May for the Lakers, but I really hope they can get Channing Frye.

Ditto. At least one positive we can draw from this past season is that they just might end up with a pretty decent rookie. Lord knows they need to put a better team around Bryant/Odom.

The rumor is that the Lakers keep shopping Odom for a PG and are looking at free agency and the draft for a big man in the middle.

Do you really think May will go all the way down at 10? Seems to me like he was the best player in the tournament this year, completely unstoppable. Of course he won't be able to bully NBA players like he did in the tourney, but he still showed some nice athleticism and strength in the post. Despite playing for one of my least favorite colleges May was damn fun to watch...

Sorry to bust your bubble, but living in the Bay Area I can tell you the Warriors are set to take Channing Frye if he is still there with the 9th pick unless some sleeper comes about, which I doubt. I have seen a different scenario for the Lakers taking Raymond Felton. He is the fastest guy from endline to endline WITH the ball in his hands plus he's a natural leader and a winner. Definitely an upgrade from Chucky Atkins.

Aside from the top 3 guys (Bogut, Paul, Williams) Gerald Green is the top High School prospect and has as much upside as Williams. He still needs to develop his body though.(6'7, only 200 ibs)
