TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2005 Don't know how true this is, but I saw this posted on the TNARevolution board... Sources have confirmed to Between The Ropes the following details on TNA Wrestling's television future. This Tuesday's TNA Impact tapings on May 31 at Universal Orlando are cancelled. With the Fox Sports Net deal expiring this weekend, television will go dark temporarily. As we've speculated all week, TNA will begin on Monday nights in prime time on WGN from 8:00pm - 10:00pm ET. The start date on WGN will be the day after Slammiversary - Monday, June 20. The WGN show will air live every other week on Monday's from Universal Orlando. Shows will be taped on Tuesday's to then air the following week. The first live show will be Monday, June 20 with a taping on June 21 to air on Monday, June 27 on WGN. TNA should make an official announcement imminently. Thoughts?
Astro101 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2005 If it is true, then it's good news in the fact that after 3 years of hard work, TNA has finally got that primetime cable deal on Monday nights and congrats to them. I think one hour of head to head is a good thing...TNA's strongest hour vs WWE's weakest...least that's a start to a "war". But that's if it's all true...time to wait for an official announcement. Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2005 God damn. This is tremendous news. We just have to hope that a) people put the show up for download each week, and b) TNA doesn't fuck up by putting two minute jobber squashes on the program.
Carnival 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2005 I hope this true....WWE will have to bring back the mid-show main events, same with TNA.

It may well be a position to actually know this so it could be legit. We'll see for sure very soon one way or the other, of course.

Eclipse 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2005 I have NEVER heard of WGN, I have only heard of that channel when the Cubs games on TV are being recapped, and then they mention that the game was on WGN... Does WGN even have a spot in cable TV in the Northeast? Because if they don't... they wouldn't be getting the major markets...

Does WGN even have a spot in cable TV in the Northeast? Because if they don't... they wouldn't be getting the major markets... Unfortunately WGN is dry in the Northeast, although I think they have a couple affiliates. Primetime in 75% or so of the cable-having homes is better than 3:00 in any homes. Scroby 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2005 The slot is great for TNA but WGN not being in huge markets is bad for TNA. Regardless if its a free time slot or not, because WGN isn't in certain markets like the Northeast and I would also think the West Coast makes the "Monday Night War's" not back on. Until TNA can reach just about every market for people to watch their show, TNA is basically just another wrestling program in some areas to watch on Monday night. WWE will still dominate the Northeast and the West Coast when it comes to Monday night, which is bad for TNA.

Scroby 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2005 I live in the Bay Area, not Socal. I did check the WGN site to see if it channel is on out here, but the site didn't give me any channel listings. So i'm guessing in order for me to get WGN I need to get a cable box.

WGN does npt have a west coast feed, thus everything airs here 2 hours earlier. so I can watch both TNA (6-8) and RAW(9-11 pm tape delayed on spike/usa), cool! Scroby 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2005 Comcast where I live doesn't carry WGN at all. I can't eve directly order it, I may have to go through a Dish network only, which sucks.
Fro 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2005 Comcast is supposed to be adding WGN gradually to their packages nationwide. It's part of the deal the Tribune (who owns WGN) struck with Comcast to create Comcast Sports Chicago.
Slickster 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2005 So is it confirmed or not? TNA is mute on the subject on their site.
Celtic Guardian 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2005 PWInsider carried something on one of there audio updates saying that there would be an official announcement Monday or Tuesday. I guess (purely my speculation on this part) that there won't be an announcement until enough media industry reporters are back from the long weekend to cover it. syxx2001 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2005 Midshow main events. I forgot about those days. I almost nutted in my shorts. And I forgot, in the late and mid 90s, WGN and WB would show the same stuff. Like Wayans Bros and stuff. I dont think they still do, but theres hope for people who dont get the WGN channel, it might be broadcasted thru WB or some other channel.
