Favorite video game of the past two years...

I'm on Chapter 15 of Ninja Gaiden, the penultimate, and I think this is my favorite game of the last two years. It's so much fun, not to mention hard as hell. The most fun I've had playing a game in who knows how long.

 

What is your favorite game of the past two years?

The Legend of Zelda:The Wind Waker. Yeah, exploring the Great Sea did get tedious at times, but the rest of the game made up one of the best Zelda titles ever. The game looks and plays amazing, as the cel-shaded graphics and revamped combat make for a completely new Zelda experience. Not to mention that Ganon looks more badass than in any other game up to that point.

 

Runner-Up: Katamari Damacy. Minna Daisuki Katamari Damacy cannot come soon enough; it's the first non-Bemani game I ever imported, but it's been unbearable even waiting for the Japanese release date.

I haven't played many games outside of the 'bigger' titles the past few years, but I would say my favorite was GTA: San Andreas. I love the GTA series, and this expanded nearly everything to make it the best overall game of the series.

 

Close second goes to Zelda: Wind Waker, mainly because I was kind of disappointed with the second half's search for tri-force pieces and the small number of dungeons. And yes, sailing was quite annoying at times, especially before you got the warp song.

I can't choose one between my top three. I've logged in so much time into each of them and like them for their own merits.

I don't play many video games...but i'd have to say Mortal Kombat 6: Deception. The konquest mode was pretty fun. kept me busy for a couple of days.

All Star 2005 is incredibly underrated. Expansion mode is remarkably cool.

 

Halo 2 is probably my favourite, but I probably played Tiger Woods 2005 more than anything else.

Mine has been Resident Evil 4. I am a big fan of this series, even with all its faults, something about blowing zombies heads off I suppose. This game is what the series needed, vastly improved camera angles, ability to aim and fire like a first person shooter, great graphics, and tough boss battles. I normally don't play games through multiple times, but this game I did in order to play with different weapons (love the upgrade system, too)

I would have to say Need for Speed Underground 2. Perfect mix of customization and competition. I just wish I could start over on a harder level with the cars I have.

I haven't played any of the games listed, sadly enough; I've been out of the loop for a couple years now. But of the ones I HAVE played, I found Fable to be very entertaining, I wasted a lotta hours on that one.

I'd definitely go with San Andreas here, not only because of the fact that the GTA engine has been polished and refined to near-perfection, but the story is by far the most engrossing of the three games and the missions themselves are the most fun and have the most variety.

 

NFL 2K5 was a really nice alternative to the same tired Madden game. MVP 2004 (aside from the Lefty Glitch) had the best pitcher/batter interface ever in a baseball videogame.

Although plenty of Xbox Live games are incredibly addicting, I would have to say my favorite game from 2003 on has to be Tales of Symphonia. It's probably in my top 5 all time, actually.

 

It's an amazing anime-styled RPG for the GameCube that went under a lot of people's radars. It's $20 now, so if you like RPGs in the slightest and own a GameCube, you owe it to yourself to buy ToS.

I mainly like the strategy that I have to put into being consistently successful, like knowing the horse's position preferences and when to whip it for its spurt.

 

And it's a niche game and I have a moth to the flame reaction to niche games.

Dynasty Warriors series, specifically 4 & 5. I love a whole host of games, but nothing keeps me coming back continuously (and buying all the cash-in spin-offs like X-Treme Legends and Empires) like Dynasty Warriors done. Just plain fun.

- Spider Man 2, just for the fun of exploring the huge-as-hell Manhattan Island.

 

- XIII, fun little shooter. And it's got Adam West.

 

- Day Of Reckoning.

 

- X-Men Legends. I'm a Marvel fan, but the true mark-out moment was hearing the awesome Tony Jay supply the voice of Magneto. That, and Captain Picard talking trash.

I loved Fable. And then all of a sudden it was over. There was no development at all towards the end. It was just PLOT POINT, PLOT POINT, PLOT POINT, END.

On another end, I just picked up San Andreas for Xbox today. I'm hoping it lives up to the hype.

My feelings exactly. What the hell did I just spend the entire game building up too?! I felt like there was some massive last dungeon that the programmers meant to put in, but just ran out of time or money or something.
