Feedback for the 6/16 show

Recommended Posts

Sorry it was a little late, my plans got shuffled around. Still beat KC though! *dances*

Anyway, whoa, this was one big-ass show. And next time, let's establish ONE main event, please? Hmm? That said, BOTH MEs were really awesome. Hell, the whole show kinda rocked. PK tore it up with the gauntlet match, too.

You should watch this show.

Awesome opening interview by Hoff. I know it’s tradition for the new champion to start the show, but it was pretty cool to see a guy who has no alliances or allegiances to anyone give a new perspective to all the main angles.

Aw, poor Boys. Whatta meanie Black is.

Very good promo by Tony. It’s like a career culmination, except no one is really cheering him on. It’s great though, because hey, heels work their way up the mountain too, not just faces. By the way, I don’t know why, but I really liked the commentator comments too. Seemed to fit very well to me.

Another segment seeing Josie just losing all control. Perfect, and I really like this CSI vs. PK feud going on.

Damn, Josie is losing it. This is awesome guys. And loved the whole Axel hasn’t been himself, because I do sorta miss the original Dark One. Good to see some character changes, because that’s always awesome.

BUY MY SHIRT! Thanks Blond! Anywho, loved “License To Thrill”. Hell, I love Leon’s character period, so I’m assuming I’ll love Jade too. And thanks for the women’s division mention. Faqu rules.

Yep, love the sister too. Now I’m curious what Christian will do if he gets his hands on her. Great addition to a good angle to begin with.

I read the women’s stuff already, and already told Sly, but great job. I really hope everyone is enjoying it, because Sly is putting a lot of effort in it (with a bit of help from yours truly, but it’s mostly him).

Fun match until the Heavenly Rockers interfered, but hey, they totally are allowed to. I dunno about that Holly thing, but I’m sure it’ll be fine. Rape angles just suck though, so hopefully that’s not what will be for real next time, if ya catch my drift.

Cool, can’t wait until the finals. I must say, a cool way to build a tournament.

Fun match, and I like Coach’s comments about the Boiz have to step it up to keep the belt. GPX are just always there whenever there are Originals, eh?

Oh yea! And the war continues. Very nice segment there, selling the desperation on how important the belt is to everyone, even if they aren’t holding it.

Whoa, great for three reasons. One, I love just how RUTHLESS CSI are. It’s freaking great how well of a group mentality is there. Two, it furthers the angle and gives PK more reason to seek revenge. Three, Josie is completely losing it, and I think this angle is the one showing it the most. Great job.

And to completely contradict the mood, a party! Cute picture thing with Zack. Still awesome to see that the Originals still hate each other. Great CWM bit which really accentuates the war. Great stuff.

Oh man, Josie is losing it! The greatness still keeps rolling…

Heh, the intros are very reminiscent of Jericho during that Cruiserweight battle royal. Good match with an awesome brawl at the end.

Wow boys, good show. I really enjoyed reading it.

Without giving too much away, I ensure you it won't go that far. As corny as this may sound, my intention is to get people emotionally involved with Holly and Logan. There's a bond there. It should be, they're dating. Like Holly said, it was a message being sent to Logan through her. I do, however, like the idea of Holly standing up to whoever is behind these games. She's tough.

Not to toot my own horn, but I'm very proud of the match. I hate having to write on the day of the show but I took so long getting to work on my promo and backstage skit that that's exactly what happened. I'm a streaky writer. Once I get on a roll I kept rolling. Luckily for me, I got on a roll for the NNMX-Bruisers match.

Onto the show...

Excellent Hoff promo. Smart idea not to open the show with the traditional -- and very predictable -- "promo from new champion". I love how we constantly put over the OAOAST Championship. Heel or face, it doesn't matter. Everybody wants it.

Black T's arrival was awesome. Arrogant as hell. The angle shot between the Boiz and Black was nicely done, as was the Peter Knight/Josie skit afterwards.

Loved the intensity in Axel's promo.

 at Rodez' "...some of the greatest nights of my life have been with crazy masked women" line. Nice to see some development on Blonde and Faqu's characters. Fun interaction between Rodez and Jade. The Women's division really begin to take off.

I'll feedback the rest tomorrow. Just wanted to get in a few words on this jammed packed show.

If it ever comes down to it, KC, I'll make as many characters as necessary for a feud with you to dodge the Diva Search

Good, intense show this week. I really like how things have evolved into a very multi faceted, Attitude style situation with some folks like CWM who really aren't heel or face

To-nee! To-nee! That's from "Tony's Theme", by the Pixies.

Anyways...

Like Hoff's warning to the afore mentioned Mr Brannigan. A strong statement of intent from the Hoff.

Great promo from the new champ. I like any promo that reminds the fans of history, as so often it all gets ignored. Brannigan NOT being a defending champion is cool too. He's proud to be champ, but he's not stupid.

Intensitude from PK. Nice touch it being unsanctioned, too.

Axel getting serious and angry again is cool. Poor Josie, all these big angry men demanding matches.

Blondeage! Excellent. And aww, a little girl Rodez. Nice idea.

Nice womens matchs, that whole things coming off really well.

Good work from Tony in keeping two of his tag teams active. You can see in contrast how I've let the Love Doctors vanish from the face of the Earth. Anyway, return of the Heavenly Rockers was great.

And so it begins! Crystal's promo seems like the clearest indication of what's coming so far. Good work, too.

Woo, go Pigley! You can do it!

Hopefully Dan-Mel didnt come over as too squashy. Its leading to a big match, anyways.

GPX and Drek are like the devils on the shoulder of Axel. Oops, Axel used the catchphrase he discarded earlier. Never mind.

Ouch. A hell of a beating for PK. CSI getting themselves over as a powerful group.

Cool little party segment and good continuity with Dan still trying to rile Zack.

Crazyness~! in the Mad Machine match. Slamming a woman stomach first into ring post? Ouch.

Heh. Cute ring intros from Scotty S. And hey, Popeye is a great man. Really fun, high energy match leading into an excellent brawl.

The street fight was pretty wild too. Brainbuster on the chair and the finish were especially nasty. This match definetely captured the ECW flavour.

Overall - the show really got the"war" angle started after plenty of foreshadowing, and I'm really looking forward to all the matches that we have to come. Go us.

Now, time for a little quick "as I read the show" feedback:

- Hoff's always been good at promos like this. It shows he hasn't really taken any sides yet and has issues with multiple people.

- I agree with CC: Black is just a big bully to the Boys.

- Nice touch with the line of ladies for Tony's acceptance speech. He's completely full of himself and I like that he won't even bother defending it more than he has to.

- Man, Josie had to make a lot of decisions under duress this week, huh? But:

AXEL

No promises. And I want some changes, Limp Bizkit sucks a dick.

Where'd that come from?

- I really enjoyed the interplay with Blonde, Faqu and Rodez in their segment. Jade seems a BIT like a plot device for his angle with Wright, but this should help the women's division nicely.

- I see what was meant by the different styles of the women's division, as this was more American a match. Not as interesting to read as last week's match, but I like Valerie and Constance being the cheating bitch heel team while Molly is the Queen of Pinning Combinations.

- Whoa, impromtu-ness. Quick but to the point.

- Hmm, another women's match for GAB. The chicks are taking over, aren't they?

- I always enjoy Tony's tag matches, and it's good to have the HRs back.

- The HI-YAH tournament has been built up nicely. I'm calling Behemoth-Dude for the finals.

- It's nice that Crystal is still very involved in things even though she hasn't had a match in a while.

- Good short Mel/Black match. It wasn't squash-tastic in the least. And yeah, like Cole said, outside of the women's matches, I don't think any other match ended without some sort of run-in or beatdown. Really sells HD going out of control.

- And the recruitment of Axel continues. It's coming off a bit like cult leaders trying to get a new member. Drek really should start chanting "One of us!" at him.

- I'm satisfied about how my match went down since, even though I could have added more to the match segments, that ending was what I really wanted to get down. Where will this lead? Will an old friend return? Stay tuned.

- I like how Tony and Axel are on the same wavelength regarding the GAB match; they both want to win on their own.

- Whoa, everybody got a little pain in that Mad Machine match, didn't they?

- Nice little bit with CSI and Josie, Hoff. Didn't know what was going to go in the show.

- Coach quoting Popeye? LOL. SG and Zack always seem to work well together and the match itself was nice and wild, which of course lead to everything boiling over.

- Agreed with Eskimo, the streetfight definitely had a lot of ECW flavor to it.

Overall, a jam-packed show. Kind of made up for the show a few weeks ago that was a little on the bare side. GAB looks to be a damn STACKED show.

The Women's stuff continues to deliver.

Good promo by Ayane. The Mad Machine stuff was pretty wild as well.

I'm liking the hotline gag during Gene's HI-YAH segments.

Very enjoyable Black-Mel match. It also furthered the upstart/originals angle.

Excellent segment with Stone, GPX and Axel.

The CSI-Knight match was damn entertaining. Helluva beat down at the end.

The skit between Black T, Zack and CWM was originally going to end with J.R. busting out of a giant cake wearing only a sash and saying "Surprise!", but I thought it was best not to end that segment with a comedy bit.

The night ended with two great final matches. First the GPX-Zack/SG tag match, with chaotic brawl at the end with all the run-ins and priceless intros by Static, and then the Street Fight between CWM and Axel.

A couple of weeks ago we had an HD I said was probably my favorite of all-time... well, no more. This is probably my favorite HD yet. Awesome job by everyone.

Limp Bizkit was a spare of the moment theme choice by me the day of the first HD after Mania, and while I thought it was cool at the time:

1. it wasn't well recieved;

2. I really did get sick of it.

So, what better way to explain why you are changing your theme than to say that your character hates it, and its the fault of the 'office'? I was *thisclose* to using 'Enemy' by Sevendust, and I know Hoff wouldn't have had a problem with it, but for two wrestlers that are supposedly going after the title, why would they use themes by the same band? I wanted a metal theme, and I listened to a shitload of different bands on Wednesday night, before settling on Mudvayne, for the moment.

With that being said, I'll go with another cliche and say that this was a really jam packed show guys, great effort. Perhaps more detailed beef bak later.

EDIT: I was also really close to making Axel's new theme 'War Machine' and turning him into more of a stiff, shoot fighter character. I've been watching WAY too much ECW in the last week. I'm a total Taz mark right now.

My God was that a huge show! How long has it been there was a HeldDOWN~! that was 12 posts long?

Anyway, it was indeed a good show. I'm still shocked that Tony won the World Title. I am certainly looking forward to his title reign. By the way, the Ayane/Lindsay match and the "Thunder" Tim Livingston segment were written by Masked Man Of Mystery and El DANDY~! respectively. I didn't write those two segments at all.

But again, it was a good show. Thumbs up.
