Well, I've actually been in a similar situation in terms of fighting multiple guys at once, though I ended up getting my head stomped in by five guys. If people think they're going to jump you and you get off that first shot, you will surprise them. If you hit them on the button, they will go down (and by buttong, I mean the area of the chin that backs itself into the nerve that sends you down). If you throw knees to the face, and through a lot of practice I know this, you're going to knock out guys more often than not. These guys don't sound like the type that knows how to tuck their chin, let alone react to someone fighting back.

 

As for the guy with the braces, it sounds like the cowboys jumped in pretty quickly, as those event happened pretty quickly in succession. We're not talking about big five-ten second gaps.
