Enigma Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 According to several sources, World Wrestling Entertainment is looking at adding several tag teams to the roster. ECW stars Axl Rotten and Balls Mahoney are scheduled for tryouts at TV tapings next month. I believe Rotten and Mahoney are booked for Raw on 7/11 in East Rutherford, New Jersey and Smackdown on 7/12 in Worcester, MA. The suggestion to bring them in came from John Laurinaitis. There's no word on whether they would retain their ECW personas if they were picked up. There has been also been discussion about Danny Doring and Roadkill internally as well. WWE officials are also slated to meet with Sabu shortly. ================== credit: PWInsider/Mike Johnson
razazteca Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 If Axl and Balls can't swing chairs at will then why sign them?
KanadianKrusty Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 Oh my god, Axl fucking Rotten in WWE, him beating up metrosexual bodybuilders is gonna be hilarious.
ChrisMWaters Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 If they get signed as a tag team, which show should they go to? Raw or Smackdown? I can't see them on Raw if Bisch stays GM, if they're still playing Bisch as an ECW hater. Smackdown...eh, an MNM/Balls and Axl feud would be unique, to say the least.
Guest *KNK* Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 Dudleyz and Bashams are on Smackdown, which opens for more brawling style matches for Balls and Axl. But for some reason I can see UPN having problems with the BALLS name.

Raw didn't even MENTION the name Balls.
Youth N Asia Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 MIKEY! AND! TAJIRI! Make it happen, you asses! I liked Balls and Axl, but I just don't see they doing greatly in the WWE, but Balls is a pretty good wrestler, he doesn't get enough credit for that

Guest JMA Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 They need to re-hire the Blue Meanie, turn Simon Dean back into Nova, and pair the two of them with Stevie to reform the bWo. They could end the JBL/Meanie controversy, help the tag division, change a heatless gimmick, and sell a boatload of t-shirts.
King Cucaracha Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 ^ But, again, they'd be parodying a non-existant stable. It'd get old pretty quick on a weekly show. Now, if they went back to impersonating different combinations of wrestlers/rock bands and not just the NWO...it might work. Balls is actually an underrated wrestler and for his size, can and will bump for people. No problem with him signing. Axl didn't look in any sort of shape the last few times I've seen him though.
Cuban Linx Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 New tag teams are good, and they'd certainly be something different than 90% of WWE tag teams that are all basically interchangeable and forgettable, but at the same time i'm not exactly clamoring to see Balls Mahoney & Axl Rotten matches circa 2005. Balls is OK, but Axl has no real use outside of hardcore matches, which the WWE really doesn't do anymore. Cut out the wild chairshots and there goes half the appeal.
Jericho2000Mark Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 Axl's mic skills are very underrated. He can do the talking, Ballz can do the wrestling, which is what a tag team should be.
tominator89 Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 It's too bad the Impact Players never got a big run in the WWE.
King Cucaracha Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 You know, instead of Balls/Axl, they could resurrect Balls/Tanaka as a team.

Dont know who would play who though. :S Fuse a number of threads into 1 dammit. Play off real life. It makes wrestling so much better when its an exxageration of reality.
nl5xsk1 Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 As King C pointed out, it'd have a limited shelf life, but I think a bWo reunion would be a good comedy-faction. Run a few weeks of the grainy b&w promos that the NWO used to run ("the following announcement bla-bla-bla" shtick) without ever mentioning who it is, just use cryptic "they're ba-a-a-a-ack" type of shit, with spray painting or whatnot) and have the announcers go apeshit, saying stuff like "I thought the NWO was dead and buried". Have it slowly build to the night that they return ... and it's the bWo instead. Have them be faces and feud them with some low level heels (someone along the lines of Masters or Snitsky or even the Bashams) and just sell a shitload of shirts.
ChrisMWaters Posted June 28, 2005 Report Posted June 28, 2005 I've said it before and I'll say it again. The bWo should come back on Raw just to annoy the living hell out of Bischoff. They can be the DX to his Sgt. Slaughter.

I went to one of his "retirement" shows in 2001. And in 2002 and 2003 he wrestled for ROH. I don't know if he's done anything reciently though
