AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted July 12, 2006 There's nothing wrong with X-2. Folks who had a lot emotionally invested in FFX would beg to differ. Fortunately I am not clouded by those folks' perceptions and expectations, since I never played FFX. X-2 sucks regardless.
bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted July 12, 2006 Is it worth playing for someone who likes FF10? I have heard not-so-great things about X2, and i dont know if a game starring rikku and yuna, without a big epic plot, is what i want to get into. i still have bad memories about that awful awful "music concert" commercial they ran for X-2 all the time. I'm vaguely curious about the gameplay though, having character classes and being able to switch them around sounds kind of interesting.

DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted July 12, 2006 X-2 links the world of Spira to FFVII therefore it is the most important game ever.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted July 12, 2006 Yeah it sounds cool, but it's pointless and unnecessary. It's one of the easiest RPGs I've ever played, just not terribly fun. Forget about the epic plot; it's pretty much a bunch of mini-quests, and lots of terrible dialogue. Gameplay is pretty much every turn based RPG you've played before, with the added addition of being able to change classes mid-battle (only once tho). Oh, there's something to "timing" your attacks, but it's still very same-old, IMO.
LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted July 12, 2006 Well, I loved X-2. And Andrew is wrong about the class change, you can change as many times as you want. You can have the occaisonal boss battle where you constantly have to change around classes during the fight, which was pretty fun. It certainly isn't for everyone, but the game is like 15 bucks Canadian, so why not.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted July 12, 2006 Okay--must be something else you can only do once per fight. It's been about a year since I played it last.

10 Pounds 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2006 I hated FF X-2 so much that it is one of the very few games I own in which I quitted before finishing it. At the beginning, I liked it. The battle were fast-paced and I liked the "level up" system they used. Sure, the story was silly but it would surely get better as I would progress to the game. Unfortunately, I've found out that pretty much of the game was do a job in the part of the world, clear all the overworld, a segment or two about "Tidus" and begin a new chapter where you go through all the overworld again. Rinse and repeat 4 or 5 times. You had build your characters like you wanted, there wouldn't be any progress to make with them, so combat became a chore. The story wasn't silly anymore, it was retarded, and the characters, more specifically Brother and the little bastard-with-a-mask who sings in a deadpan voice, were incredibly annoying. Some people may like X-2, but for me, it ranks as one of the worst RPG I've played. If you want to play light-hearted stuff, play a Lunar, miles ahead of X-2. Guest ABOBO Report post Posted July 14, 2006 Usually I try to get some money back on a game when I get rid of it. FF X-2 was the exception.
Anya 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2006 Brother and Shinra were funny. I liked the whole cast. I like Lunar but there is like no gameplay. As simple as X-2 and some other FF games are they're no where near as limited and simple as Lunar. Lunar's characters and story make that game.
Guest ABOBO Report post Posted July 14, 2006 The lunar point is valid, I'll admit.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2006 Almost no RPGs have terribly good gameplay. For it's time, Lunar's battle system was fine, because at least characters position on the battle field mattered somewhat.
Guest Smues Report post Posted July 16, 2006 I was at one of the Gamestop's in the mall today and notice again the "COMING SOON" cases for the Superman Returns videogame. This Gamestop got retarded and took down all their signs that used to list release dates for coming games, so I finally asked one of the employees when the game is coming out since movie games usually come out with the movie. He looked it up and it's out on October 31st? Is anyone besides me going to care about it by then? If it means a good game then I don't care but it just seems wierd to release the movie game five months after the movie.

Masked Man of Mystery 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2006 I got Midway's Arcade Treasures 3 for $3 used for my Cube thanks to a bad sticker at EB. Should've been like $9. I know it hasn't gotten great reviews, but I've wanted to try Hydro Thunder since I missed out when it was released to the N64 and I have fond memories of Stun Runner. I'll give an opinion when I get a chance to try it out.

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted July 21, 2006 The "Reprogrammed Hope" part of Silhouette Mirage is only on the title screen, though. Totally Rad and Nuts & Milk are my favorite.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted July 21, 2006 I also like X-2. The characters made it quite fun. Although, I can understand why you boys might have hated it. What I did hate, was trying to get 100%. That was teh fucking suck. Made me never want to play the game again.
Guest Smues Report post Posted July 21, 2006 That list doesn't include Shaq-fu so it sucks.
Scroby 0 Report post Posted July 21, 2006 How does that list not have E.T.? The list is flawed!
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted July 21, 2006 Probably because the list is *worst game titles* (you know, as in the names?) and not worst games? Game titles I also figured could go on there: -Rival Schools: United by Fate -any of the xenosaga titles, because they use german subtitles referencing nietzche because the developer is Japanese and likes to make pretentious piles of shit. -Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie : it's almost like it's an in-joke of the movie's length or something. Put Superman Returns - The Game here if they still go with that title. -Legend of Heroes : So did they name the game in like 2 minutes? From what I understand this RPG is so hopelessly generic that it should come up in a white box with plain black letters, so it seems oddly appropriate. -Rayman: Raving Rabbids - Do not SPOIL the shocking ending where Rayman is finally "put down!" -While they wouldn't qualify under that lists' rules, the Simple 2000 series has goofy titles that tranlate into stuff like "The Fighting," although "Zombies vs. Ambulance" really tops them. While I was searching through Gamefaqs to refresh my memory, I noticed some odd things. -There's going to be a Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy beat 'em up. Um, ok. -There's going to be a Kim Possible PS2 game. Buena Vista games is publishing but I don't see a developer. Hopefully its the folks who did the GBA games, which managed to be really good Batman-wannabe style games. -Elijah Wood will be voicing Spyro in the new Spyro game, Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning. His sidekick Sparx will be voiced by DAVID SPADE and Gary Oldman will voice Spyro's mentor. It's supposed to be darker themed, though, but I can't see them letting Spade go balls-out which makes that rather pointless.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2006 here's a video clip of what they're shooting for for the Superman Returns game: http://www.bluetights.net/vids/ea_tib/sr_videogamelow.html Obviously not actual gameplay footage, and naturally it's been pushed back since then. This is pretty much what Game Informer seemed to take all of its grabs from.

MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2006 How is Yo Noid a bad title? I had the game. It sucked, but the title is not that bad. Oh, and Id vote for Mr. Nutz, especially since the first level is Woody Land.
Anya 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2006 That list is weak. Tobal? I wouldn't play that now but it wasn't bad. It certainly wasn't bad enough to be brought up in a list. Shaq Fu isn't even that bad. It's not good but if it weren't for the silly premise and name nobody would care about it.
