I don't entirely agree with that list. The SupCom and Crysis box art are fine. The special edition Crysis box is especially nice. Orange Box shouldn't be included, because you want to get across how much is in it, which doesn't leave much room for much else.

Dumb customer of the Day goes to:

 

Picture the scene, its 9am in the morning, we've just opened. Enter a rowdy customer at high pace, carrying a big bag under his arm.

"I WANT A REFUND ON MY PS3!" He demands.

I look at the guy, he can't be serious. Like we'd have £300 cash in the floats first thing in the morning.

Yellow teeth, Nicotine smelling little cock face who wanted to return his PS3. "It doesn't turn on," he claims. "Well, it did once, then it blew up. I want me 300 quid back now, so I can just give it to me kid."

 

"Hmm, odd," I exclaim. "We've never had any PS3's returned for 'blowing up' before, in fact, we've hardly any returned." I continued to explain, unpacking his PS3.

"What yee doing, man?" The little infestation of life shouts.

"I'm going to test the machine."

"Well if it works or not, I'm having a refund, I haven't bought it all the way back here for nothing."

"I'll be the judge of that." I say under my breath.

"What?"

"I can't give you a refund without seeing the fault."

"I think you can."

"Not really, if I see a fault, I'll replace the PS3 with a new one for you."

So I test the PS3 and sure it enough, the power doesn't turn on at all. It would appear the little knobface is telling the truth, however, his smugness is overwhelming - something isn't right.

"Well, I'll swap the machine over for a new one for you."

"Nah, I want my money back."

 

I start to pack the PS3 back up when I notice...

 

"Hang on, your plug has no fuse in it..."

 

I get a new power cable try it out and his PS3 works fine, customer swears at me, I tell him to leave.

I see parents willing to buy whatever tripe (Disney games, etc) their kids want. Used to make me sick. On the other hand, some of these kids are 5 and 6... I don't know if they would even know what a good game was.

I'm not going to even bother trying to get my kids in to video games until they're at least 8 or 9. My daughter is 5 and she'd never be able to even begin to grasp the concept of using a 360 controller (hell I apparently couldn't...it was a faulty wire, Thoth!)

My kiddo (who is 5) plays Super Rub a Dub on the PS3, Rock Band (the singing part) on the 360 as well as Beautiful Katamari (the demo). Oh, and she plays Wii sports with me as well as the original Super Mario Bros.

 

Edit: And she plays her copy of Nintendogs on my DS.

Gamers, a chain of local Gamestop-ish stores here in Nebraska and Iowa has Wiis in-stock, but they're a $440 bundle that comes with some animal games. Fun for her, I guess, not so much for dad.

I'm not that big of an online gamer. There was a time where I played SOCOM II with friends but that's pretty much about it, most of the people online are morons anyway. I'm trying to give it another shot since I got CoD 4 for PC during the Holidays and everyone is raving about how good the online mode is.

 

It may have been 2 or 3 years since I've last played online but it's still the same deal : Is there such a thing as a server where people just play instead of acting all "omfg j00 r sooooooo gay stfu n00b" ? Seriously, it's like everyone out there is a stupid kid passing himself as an internet bully trying to get "respect". I once made the terrible, horrible mistake of asking if this was a kid's server with everyone calling each other gay, retard and stuff and there actually was a vote ban against me because of it.

 

So are all online players in junior highschool or are there actually intelligent, respectful people out there ?

My nephew is about 4 and a half, and he loves games. Not really good at them, but likes them.

 

The first game I think he actually "got" was the original Mega Man. I didn't want him to play it very long for fear of crushing his soul, though.
