I tried the Wrestlemania 21 Rematch Challenge earlier, which is on Hard level...and fuck that. After Michaels countered the Angle Slam for the 6th time, I just gave up. Bunch of crap.

btw, completing Season Mode on both Raw and Smackdown earns unlimited CAW points (at least, I think it's that). So if your CAWs suck, devote some time to finishing the Season a couple of times and you've no problems anymore.

there is also a trick to bypass that if you want.

Easy CAW exp points

Earn easy EXP Points

1. Start by creating a Super Heavyweight CAW.

2. Play through season mode and earn until enough exp to max out strength or durability or both.

3. Go to Create mode and make a copy of your CAW.

4. Edit the profile of the copied CAW and change the weight limit to DIVA. You'll recieve a notification saying CAW attribute points will be lost. Continue.

By doing this the CAW's lost Attribute points will be converted back to EXP Points, and you can distribute it to other CAWs. Repeat steps 3-4 until you max out all your stats.

The AI is cheap. The only way I enjoy playing a tag match is when I'm with a friend, otherwise my partner, or me because of the illegal man on the opposing team, always get counted out. This sucks when playing season mode. During elimination chambers, the wrestlers, regardless of who they are, will always climb up the cage and jump off the top of the chamber.  Making somebody tap out or putting someone in the casket is naerly impossible, I'm mashing the buttons like a madman but can never make it halfway through the bar.

The secret is NOT mashing the buttons. Whenever I get one of those meters where you have to tap any button to increase it, I just use three fingers on my right had to tap square, triangle and circle alternately, which with my left hand being used to tap L1 & L2. Those meters go up like crazy that way, and you don't have the annoyance of mashing the buttons (which never works anyway).

I'm loving the game so far. I've only lost one match in Season Mode so far with JBL and that's a Parking Lot Brawl against Mankind because I decided to jump off a car, that's wasn't smart. But anyways, I'm loving the promos every show, it adds a lot to the season mode IMO. I did the Legends Tour, I had a pretty good time with it, now I'm doing the "Urning respect" or something like that storyline with The Undertaker, Booker T, Eddie G. and Kurt Angle. It's a nice story so far. My shortest match so far was 3 minutes against Booker T, one Clothesline from Hell was enough. Longest was 30 minutes in Exhibition, my first match with my mate in a Steel Cage: Dupree and Conway vs. Angle and Orton, twas fun.

I still need to do GM Mode and LOADS of other stuff. I'm going to play this whenever I can, it's great so far. Only thing I don't get yet is how to play possum. How do you keep lying down

I've done Season three times now, twice with a caw and once with Stone Cold and I still haven't seen the Legends Tour or ECW storylines.. anyone know how to get them?

Posted

The first time I played I did SmackDown (Eddie) and got both the Legends Tour and the ECW storyline - one after another, actually. The key to the Legends Tour, as near I can tell, is to be someone that has a story arc about them. Since the game uses audio instead of text, the only out it seems to have for those arcs is to replace them with the Legends Tour.

Speaking of which, I marked out when I heard Jimmy Hart doing some voice overs for the Legneds angle... then once more when he does his non-legends storyline.

Rented the game last night.

The 'ice skating' affect that frequently occurs when you irish whip individuals is completely unforgiveable. How on earth they could not have either detected or fixed this prior to release is beyond me. It looks absolutely ridiculous.

The controls are still really stiff and mechanical, it seems. I think the control system has come a long way since the previous incarnation, however the general flow of the game still is a bit wooden.

Season mode is brilliantly done, albeit linear. The graphics are *astoundingly* beautiful and the entrances are spot on.

I definitely share some of the sentiments on the A.I. All it involves is an sometimes never-ending exhange of reversals, which is frustratingly distracting and absolutely destroys the fun in the game. You need to play it on normal just to have a decent match with anyone. I'm fresh out of suggestions, but something has to change about this and fast.

Bret still does the spin-kick! Ha!

In closing - great rental, bad choice for purchase.

I've never had the "ice-skating" glitch. Does it effect both PAL and NTSC versions?

Don't know how much they help because I've never used them, but the game has AI sliders where you can increase and decrease things like the CPUs chances for reversals. Maybe try those if you have trouble with the computer reversing everything.

I think it's a PAL thing. It's never happened to me once (NTSC) and I have heard nothing of it happening to other NTSC'ers, for lack of a better term. Plus, IGN probably would've pointed it out in their review if it was an NTSC issue.

I'm guessing something happened during the CD pressing process...

Must be a PAL issue then. It happens extremely often, at least every second or third time someone is running or is irish whipped. They will legitimately freeze in a running pose and just glide across the screen. Looks funny the first time, makes you pray for better PAL conversions every other time.

It happens in my game sometimes but it really doesn't bother me. I'm having great fun. My next match with JBL is now the Royal Rumble match and I start no.1 :P But I had a battle royal before the Rumble and I lost that one cause when I tried to eliminate Heidenreich the "ring out" bar didn't go fast at all and when they do it to you it's almost impossible to stop it. Also how do you press slam someone out

One of my favorite things about this game, is being able to "power-up" tag team/stables. It's a nice touch, in that you can have a tag team who teams alot together better than two superior wrestlers tagging for a match.

If you want to play the Legends tour in season mode, be the world champ of either show. I was HHH when I first got the game and started with the Legends storyline. As for ECW, I still don't know that one

Posted

ECW is when you have the Torrie's contract storyline on Smackdown. Pick that you think Cena is being too defensive about the issue. Then when you get a tag match with The Cabinet, pick Cena as your partner.

You should have the ECW storyline then.

How do you get stable attrbiutes up? It says play in season but how do you play as a team in season? I tried doing just one of the members and I got one stable point, but can't seem to get anymore...

This game sucks. My goodness. I'll stick to Here Comes the Pain & King of Colosseum 2.

THE AI is very cheap. In Gm mode I tried a six man elimination tag match and it was imposible to pin any of my opponents, I lucked out and made one tap out and then got another guy to hit me with a chair to dq him, but then got easily pinned by the last guy (Tajiri(I noticed just changing the difficulty to normal makes them counter almost everything. its insane. and while playing the rumble as big show to complete the throw 10 out challenge, I had several smaller guys lifting up show.

Your best bet to clear that one is to use show since he can press slam the samll guys, and make ssure the roster for the rumble includes guys like Christian, rey, chavo, haas, flair, london, spike, scotty, hurricane, tajiri (all of these guys I was able to press slam out)

I still have not tried season after a week of owning the game as I have focuse on gm mode (my raw gained some fans but is still trailing sd) random cards are fun, my game wanted to start a feud between Snitsky and Chrsity Hemme for some reason

i forgot to mention I finished amateur challenges and bought Davey Boy as my first unlocked guy, damn does his fake theme suck! I then used him and beat chris masters in a macth where I cleared two rising star challenges (confined and no stored finisher)

Unless I am mistaken (and there is a good chance I am), the MEB is essentially Giant "Prince A-Train" Bernard's Baldobomb finisher. Is that in the game somewhere?

Also, and again correct me if I am wrong, this is the first PS2 SmackDown to not use the 6 Man HIAC match for the Armageddon PPV in season mode. Hell, I don't even think there is an Armageddon PPV in season.
