Booking for the 7/14 show

Recommended Posts

I've only made a few wrestling DVD's with my recorder so far (one a random compilation of matches I enjoy for whatever reason, another was the RAW the day after Wrestlemania). I'm working on one now that so far has two CZW matches on it: Trent Acid vs. Homicide (IMO, better than their ROH matches) and The SAT's and Red vs. Divine Storm and Brian XL. Truth be told I can't stand the SAT's, but this was a sick spotfest.

I've also been sifting through old RAW's and Nitro's. I'm currently going through the RAW where Hardcore Holly returned to save Crash from Kurt Angle, back in late '00.

Spin The Wheel, Make The Deal Eski.

Also, IIRC, that's the event where Steve Williams and Steve Austin teamed up for the only time ever.

That was Havoc 1992. Which card was different than announced in the Ross Report section of WCW Magazine. I regret not getting the PPV version of the event when I had the chance. I hear everything up until the NWA Title and Spin the Wheel is great. I actually have the entire mini-move for the Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal match from Clash XX. Corny. Though I do like Jake's facial expressions.

Edit: I find myself marking out for things that happened 10+ years ago than I do now.

I have the commercial releases of both Havoc's, which I assume are chopped up a bit, since that used to be the Turner Home Video M.O. Those were some of the first tapes I got when I got my job, as well as Battlebowl '92, Havoc '95, etc.

One match I do need to put on tape: Pillman vs. Badd from Fall Brawl '95. Half hour of goodness right there, to determine a number one contender to the US Title. Damn, remember when that belt meant something?

Never understood why the WCW PPVs were clipped to hell. It was a tradition that dated back to JCP. On the Great American Bash 1987 video, we get the intros for the Lex Luger-Nikita Koloff U.S. Title cage match (with Earl Hebner as ref!), then it cuts, and both men are sweating profusely. They even cut off some of Pillman-Liger from Superbrawl II!

The Great American Bash '92 is another event chopped up pretty good. But I got a little creative here and copyed the PPV verison onto DVD and edited in the final two matches, Sting vs. Vader and the NWA Tag Title Finals, the latter of which is clipped. The Watts/Hiro Matusda segment with the Big Gold belt is...well, gold. Matusda looks completly uncomfortable when Watts starts talking about Sting being "the World's Champion" and wanting a title vs. title match to crown one champ after the NWA Title tournament.

Pillman vs. Badd is sweet. Let's also not forget the awesomeness that is Flair vs. Anderson with Brian's heel turn. WarGames is a disgrace, however.

That's right, I was going to mention Pillman's heel turn and the beginning of the Loose Cannon era coming later in the show.

I also need to put the Havoc '95 Horsemen swerve on DVD.

I don't suppose anyone's gonna do any actual booking.

PK vs. Hoff in a "Loser Must Listen to 'LaLa' for the Rest of His Life" match. And Hoff can't win by pinfall, submission, countout, or DQ.

Damn, this match is going to be a lot harder than I thought. I thought I'd be able to find a map and write the match similar to my match with FS, but the most detailed one I can find is the one at the MOA website, and even that one's nearly impossible to figure out.

Here's an example

PRL, what the hell is going on with your avatar.  That guy (girl?) frightens me.

Well, my avatar used to be a picture of Emperor Palpatine wearing Princess Leia's metal bikini from Return Of The Jedi. There's a thread over at theforce.net messageboards called The Golden Palpy Society, and in the thread, somebody asked what Palpatine wore underneath his robe. Someone said a Force Thong, so that led to that picture that used to be my avatar.

And because no one asked, here is the full-size photo of Palpatine wearing Leia's bikini. It's perfect nightmare fuel!

As we were discussing matches and shit...

I tell you what, screw the WWE for saying those SD/RAW joint things are 'supershows'. My DVD order finally came through and I got the IWA/CZW Philly double shot. Necro/Joe was just insane. What's crazier is he's bleeding like shit 5 hours later on the CZW show, trading legit potato shots. Crazy guy. Nate Webb uses the rafters like monkey bars to his a senton in the CZW show which is just crazy. Plus, the IWA DVD has Necro vs. Toby Klein, which involved Klein literally hurling a VCR out of the ring, at Necro's head and Necro taking it in the skull unprotected. Insane.

Indy wrestling is so great.

The ring would likely be in the East Rotunda, on the first floor, with several hundred seats @ ringside. I envision Camp Snoopy being partially cordoned off and covered, making a sort of production truck as well as an entranceway.

There are food courts on the North and South 3rd floors, Legoland on 1st floor South, AMC Theater on 4th floor South, and several bars on 4th East -- prominently Jillian's Gameworld, with an arcade and a bowling alley. Cereal World is on 3rd floor North near the food court, and on first floor West there's several kiosks, as well as the giant Snoopy bowl @ the entrance to Camp Snoopy.

I hope the info helps.

Indeed. There's not a proper arena, so that's our next best bet; if we put up some sort of temporary rafters, we could maybe fit...1000 "paid" fans, plus many more looking on from above, although it's safe to say that CARL WINSLOW and OAOAST security would be on all floors. The East Rotunda, that round area, basically can be seen down from the 2nd and 3rd floors. The railings on those floors are circular, as if the rotunda occupies the same space on every floor...get it? So you can lean over and see down.

If I'm feeling REALLY helpful (re: if I remember and have time to do it), I'll take my day off Wednesday and snap some photos of the area.

Also, outside of the first floor east exit is the mass transit station, which the buses and light rail run through. So that could be used, as well.

HEY HOW IS EVERYONE!! Um.....

So like three different engagements came up for Thursday night...I fell ass-backwards into a job interview, and after that, an old friend is in town from Florida, and there's also what I had to do anyway. SO..........

If SOMEONE could post the show, as in "besides me," that'd be great. If not, fair warning that it'll probably be HeldDown Late Night (or even HeldDown Friday morning). I really can't break any of these plans.

If someone can help me out, a. I'd love you forever, and b. try to let me know by tonight so I can forward you what I have. It'd be easier if a mod could do it because of the stuff posted in SUPER SECRET MOD-TOWN, but at this point I'll take any help I can get.

So thanks in advance to anyone that could do this.

Ok, send anything you have to ME this week. I'll set a deadline of Thursday, 10 PM Eastern because I'm going to put the show up after Smackdown, so that gives everyone an extra hour. However, like I said, I'm putting the show up after SD, so if there's one or two little segments missing, they'll have to be edited in afterwards. I'm not waiting all night.

He hasn't sent anything to me yet (we just decided I would post the show like 20 minutes ago), but he's sending everything he's got so if you sent it to him, I'll get it.

Alf, Tom, your stuff has been forwarded.

PK -- I'll send you my own stuff tomorrow afternoon. I've got a few hours at mid-day. So don't fret.

I can wait a little bit. I'll hold off until about 11:30 or so. Show's done and I have a slot for your stuff, so don't rush.
