Introducing...

Recommended Posts

Yes folks, we've opened up a developmental territory. What I figured we'd do this for (in storyline terms at least) is so we have a place to stick people that we have ideas for, but aren't quite sure how to introduce them yet. It can also be a place for "send downs" (re: if someone is taking a leave, etc.). We already do the HI-YAH stuff, so why not do this, right?

I've come up with several characters for the roster, but I'm keeping them as freelance for now. I'd just like a heads up if they plan on being used anytime soon.

Los Diablos Del Fuego, or "Devils of the Fire". (Mariachi and Moracca). Cool name, huh? Sounds badass, don't it? Well, there's nothing badass about these guys, unless you think pink tights and sombreros strike fear into the hearts of others. Yes, it's a luchadore tag team doing a gay bit, and they're shockingly popular for it.

Cameron Carmichael. This was the guy I had intended on using in the WDI fed, which faltered. Over there, he was doing the MNM gimmick (before they were, I might add, so GO ME~! Here, he's the "Pure Athlete", and will gladly pee in a cup to prove so.

"The Specialist" Brian Bradley. Impressive matwork and high-flying at only 19 years of age. Has a great in-ring charisma, but the promo's leave a little to be desired for now. Should easily be a major star on the main roster within the next year or two.

Okay, the BBB are down in OAOVW from now. Also:

"Double H" Hjalmar Hofstetter- A snobby Swiss aristocrat, who possesses the best European Uppercut in the business and some insanely pimping jackets. Speaks pretty good English, but prefers to speak German, just to mess with people.

Blake "Star Spangled" Bannar- Kinda goofy, fun loving, blue collar worker. Patriotic American and all-round nice guy. Dresses in worker clothes, carries a briefcase filled with whatever he may need for the match. Frequent partner of...

The Bear- A guy who wrestles in a bear costume. And has some of the traits of a bear. Beware the Bearhug~!

A character I've had in mind for months now, and nearly debuted earlier this year.

Theodore "Teddy" Moneymaker: As the name suggests, the ruggedly handsome Teddy is all about the money. Heir to a Texas oil company, the cousin of OAOAST superstar Tony Brannigan is considered a "can't miss" prospect.

Might as well toss the Illuminators in there. I had planned to turn them face and have them come to the ring to "Apache" by the Sugarhill Gang (with the dance and everything), but just never got around to it.

"Mr. Mexico" Rey Estarro-The self-proclaimed "King of Lucha Libre" arrived in OAOVW and immediately targeted Los Diablos Del Fuego for making a mockery of Mexican wrestling tradition to "cater to the uneducated American public". Estarro is a pure rudo, with amazing techical and aerial ability. Has found a sympathizer/tag team partner in...

Jason James-At 19, he's one of the youngest prospects in OAOVW, and has quite a "can't miss", sure-shot aura about him. James packed up his life and drove from Seattle, WA down to OAOVW without any concrete deal in place, looking for a chance to prove himself. Seeing acts like The Cow and LDDF, James grew jaded, feeling that "entertainment overshadows ability", and vowed to be taken seriously above anything else. This has led James to transition his downhome charm and appeal into a vicious mean streak and become a hated heel before he's legally able to drink.

I guess we can throw Prince Killings down there as well, see if the guy can learn more moves than a chinlock.

Official stats for THE COW:

cow.jpg

Name: THE COW

Height: 6'7

Weight: 1400lbs

From: The Dairy

Entrance Music: "For All The Cows" by Foo Fighters

Manager/Owner: Farmer Jim

THE COW comes to the ring wearing a Ric Flair-esque robe.

Basic moves: Headbutt, shoulder charge, back kick, bite, lick, grass spit, GORE, milk squirt from udders to the eyes

Finisher: THE TRAMPLE~! (jumps up and down upon opponent until either submits or can be pinned)

Weaknesses: Prone to blows to the udders, and also being tipped will render THE COW unable to get back to its feet. Also has an inate fear of leather and meaty snacks.

Bio: THE COW is a real flesh and blood cow who has been trained to wrestle by her owner, Farmer Jim, who noted her unusual abilities while trying to milk her. Contrary to earlier rumours, THE COW is in no way two guys in a suit.

Trevor Nelson - 21 year old kid from Little Rock, Arkansas. Still very green with the mat skills, but he tries to cover that up by imitating Mick Foley's bumping style (i.e. taking chairshots flush in the head and landing flat on his back instead of using his feet to cushion the blow). Was a backyard wrestler for 3 years and now wants to go "legit" in a real organization.

I think we all just got too busy with using our own characters, and in some of our cases, already having to write multiple characters. Much like WWE, we've let our developmental system fall by the wayside!

Now would be the perfect time to pitch an idea I've had in mind for nearly two years now, which only Patty knows about. It's the creation of a second "syndicated" show, a throwback to the days of WWF Superstars, Wrestling Challenge and WCW Worldwide. I've joked with Patty that the OAOAST syndicated show would either be called Syndicated or Worldwide Superstars of Wrestling Challenge.

What does it have to do with the OAOVW you ask?

I've read past reviews of WCW Saturday Night from the Bill Watts era that had something called "Battle of the Underdogs." Basically, the job guys would face each other in competive matches. We could easily adapt that to showcase OAOVW characters.

I have all sorts of ideas for a show like this, but it's just a matter of finding the time to put such a show together.

You can add D*LUX to the list...Shayne Brave and Tyler Bryant, two wannabee multi-Platinum superstar pop heroes! Shockingly enough, they are faces. And they may or not be created so I can do something with them in the future, I DON'T KNOOOOOOWW!

Better hurry up with that idea before I squash them all leading up to AM.
