Ya this is automatic jinx but since MLB Extra Innings is having a free preview some of you may want to tune to the A's-Rangers game as Rich Harden has a perfect game thru the 6th.

Make that 7.....Why Am I in class following this on a computer when I could be at home witnessing this live............AAAAAAAAAARGH.

I just got back from Binghamton. Hamels pitched extremely well, striking out eight and allowing one run through seven innings. If he remains healthy, he could be a real asset down the road.

I'd like to think that they're taking the divison this weekend too, but damn. Redding is starting tomorrow, 0-5 9.10 ERA. And Sunday could be Sturtze or a new guy from AAA. Not to mention they're rushing Kevin Brown (who should be in NO hurry) back to try and start games next week.

And the Red Sox aren't going to just roll over and die after one loss at home. Hopefully Francona and management have learned their lesson and not put Schilling in those situations unless they're 100% confident he can get it done.

The Yankees have to sweep to jump ahead of Boston. Even if the Sox only take 1 out of the 4, they still have a slight 1/2 game lead.

If Boston takes just 1 of 4, and the Os sweep the Mariners, the Os would be back in first place, 3 out of 4 from the Mariners and they'd be tied with the Sox.

*recalls Pedro coming in at the end of one of the ALCS games and almost blowing it*

I dunno about the learning factor.....

That's a slight exaggeration, I think you're talking about Game 7 of the ALCS. Pedro came in the 7th inning with the Red Sox up 8-1 to do mop up work (Which he shouldn't have been doing) and gave up two runs. Still an idiotic move by Francona, but at no point did Pedro almost blow the game. Unless I'm having a brainfart and forgetting about one of the other games.

I think what Schilling did for the Sox last year with his ankle and all is more than worth it if he is indeed "finished" and cant get it done anymore. I am not ready to say that after 1 game though. He didn't pitch bad at all and Arod IS one of the best hitters in all of baseball. Relax my fellow Sox fans.

I do think that Schilling is done as a starter at least for this year due to being injured still. There is NO way they would use him in the bullpen at all if they were truly hoping he would "build strength" for a return to the rotation. So it's either give him a shot in the bullpen and see if he can at least do that for us, or back to the DL for the rest of the year.

Maybe he's talking about when Petey was left in too long two years ago?

Yeah, but he was giving an example of Francona being a bad manager and Grady Little left Pedro in too long in the ALCS two years ago.

Speaking of Grady Little, I wonder why he hasn't been hired as a manager by any team, yet.

Ninth grand slam this season for the Red Sox puts them up 17-1. So much for "WE'RE TAKING THE DIVISION THIS WEEKEND!!!"

I'd be more confident with Jeter pitching and playing SS at the same time....

Darrell May and Tim Redding combine for 3.2 IP, 10 H, 12 ER, 7 BBs. Meanwhile, Paul Quantrill has pitched 7.2 scoreless innings for the Padres over four games, striking out six and walking none. It's early, but I think the Padres may have won this trade.
