NoCalMike Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 Ya this is automatic jinx but since MLB Extra Innings is having a free preview some of you may want to tune to the A's-Rangers game as Rich Harden has a perfect game thru the 6th. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Make that 7.....Why Am I in class following this on a computer when I could be at home witnessing this live............AAAAAAAAAARGH.
Bored Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 I don't really believe in jinxes but ESPN just gives me another reason to hate them.
NoCalMike Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 Way to Go Harden, a 1-hitter is nothing to be ashamed of...
MarvinisaLunatic Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 Raffy draws a walk @ 1 hit short of 3000 and the Seattle crowd boos, but to his credit he wasn't really trying to get #3000..
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 I just got back from Binghamton. Hamels pitched extremely well, striking out eight and allowing one run through seven innings. If he remains healthy, he could be a real asset down the road.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 Didn't realize this, but Steve Reed was designated for assignment and the Os brought up Grimsley, so one of the crappy Steves is out of the Os bullpen, hopefully Kline isn't too far behind.
Bored Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 Harden settles for a two-hitter, throws just 81 pitches.
Guest StylesMark Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 I'd like to think that they're taking the divison this weekend too, but damn. Redding is starting tomorrow, 0-5 9.10 ERA. And Sunday could be Sturtze or a new guy from AAA. Not to mention they're rushing Kevin Brown (who should be in NO hurry) back to try and start games next week.
KingPK Posted July 15, 2005 Author Report Posted July 15, 2005 And the Red Sox aren't going to just roll over and die after one loss at home. Hopefully Francona and management have learned their lesson and not put Schilling in those situations unless they're 100% confident he can get it done.
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 The Yankees have to sweep to jump ahead of Boston. Even if the Sox only take 1 out of the 4, they still have a slight 1/2 game lead.

EVIL~! alkeiper Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 I'm not sure if it is the situation. I think there is some chance that Schilling is washed up as an elite pitcher.
King Kamala Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 And the Red Sox aren't going to just roll over and die after one loss at home. Pedro came in the 7th inning with the Red Sox up 8-1 to do mop up work (Which he shouldn't have been doing) and gave up two runs. Still an idiotic move by Francona, but at no point did Pedro almost blow the game. Unless I'm having a brainfart and forgetting about one of the other games.
Cartman Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 I think what Schilling did for the Sox last year with his ankle and all is more than worth it if he is indeed "finished" and cant get it done anymore. I am not ready to say that after 1 game though. He didn't pitch bad at all and Arod IS one of the best hitters in all of baseball. Relax my fellow Sox fans. I do think that Schilling is done as a starter at least for this year due to being injured still. There is NO way they would use him in the bullpen at all if they were truly hoping he would "build strength" for a return to the rotation. So it's either give him a shot in the bullpen and see if he can at least do that for us, or back to the DL for the rest of the year.

King Kamala Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 Yeah, but he was giving an example of Francona being a bad manager and Grady Little left Pedro in too long in the ALCS two years ago. Speaking of Grady Little, I wonder why he hasn't been hired as a manager by any team, yet.
smh810 Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 Terry Francona is a very good and bold manager but that boldness gets him into trouble sometimes (see last night).
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted July 16, 2005 Report Posted July 16, 2005 Just a reminder that the Orioles play Seattle tonight at 10pm. Rafael Palmeiro is sitting at 2,999 hits.
KingPK Posted July 16, 2005 Author Report Posted July 16, 2005 Now let's see who the Yankee pitchers tonight REALLY are! *RRRRRIP* "And I would have gotten away if it weren't for you meddling kids!"
Cartman Posted July 16, 2005 Report Posted July 16, 2005 LOL, I dunno who is worse, Quantrill or the combo of May/Redding.
Brett Favre Posted July 16, 2005 Report Posted July 16, 2005 I just hope Francona brings out Schilling to close this out.
Precious Roy Posted July 16, 2005 Report Posted July 16, 2005 I think it's time to call David Cone and Jimmy Key out of retirement, they couldn't be any worse than the jokers we threw out there tonight...
KingPK Posted July 16, 2005 Author Report Posted July 16, 2005 Ninth grand slam this season for the Red Sox puts them up 17-1. So much for "WE'RE TAKING THE DIVISION THIS WEEKEND!!!"
Precious Roy Posted July 16, 2005 Report Posted July 16, 2005 Gah, wasn't ONE of these 50-2 games enough
Guest Fishyswa Posted July 16, 2005 Report Posted July 16, 2005 I'd be more confident with Jeter pitching and playing SS at the same time....
Brett Favre Posted July 16, 2005 Report Posted July 16, 2005 You beat on Tim Redding and Darrell May..I don't think this affects us taking the division.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted July 16, 2005 Report Posted July 16, 2005 Darrell May and Tim Redding combine for 3.2 IP, 10 H, 12 ER, 7 BBs. Meanwhile, Paul Quantrill has pitched 7.2 scoreless innings for the Padres over four games, striking out six and walking none. It's early, but I think the Padres may have won this trade.
