101 reasons not to remove Hassan from Smackdown!

Well if we remove all the arm-bars, then we're really only on 23 or so.

Can someone fill me in on the ARM-bar joke?

Jericho was feuding w/ Malenko in WCW. Malenko was known as "The Man of 1000 Moves", so Jericho started calling himself "The Man of 1004 Moves". Jericho did a promo in the ring where he read off his list of moves (complete w/ a long-ass sheet of paper). He started off w/ regular moves, then started throwing in "arm bar" every 3rd move (i.e. "sleeper hold...(a couple moves)...arm bar...(moves)...arm bar...(moves)...Canadian Arm bar...").

EDIT: yeah, 1004 moves.

The great part about that gag was that he started rattling off moves as they cut to commercial break . . . they come back and he's still in the ring already in the 700s. They shoot off the pyro to start the 2nd hour of Nitro and he's still listing moves like the Super Blizzard . . . and it was Prince Iaukea of all people to stop him.

I dont understand you guys sometimes. You piss and moan endlessly about how bland, reliant on cheap heat, and talentless the guy is, but he gets removed from TV and you praise his name like hes the second coming of Christ, and call it the biggest travesty of the year. Make up your mind.

Clearly, most of the people on this forum are apathetic to Hassan's dilemma, and I think anyone praising him like 'the second coming of Christ' are likely just bitching for the sake of bitching. Certainly if you look at posts from two weeks ago you won't find many Hassan-lovers among them, and I don't think the situation has changed anyone's opinion on his wrestling ability. I hope most people can realise that it was just a silly race gimmick that simply needn't belong in 2005, and that it was a nice spot of karmic fate that lead to the gimmick being dropped. Accordingly, I feel a little sorry for the few people who are actually trying to provide serious reasons in this thread not to remove Hassan.

The gimmick had some really terrific potential to it. The whole "hey, I was born and raised in America, but ever since 9/11 people have been calling me a terrorist, and I'm sick of this racism" is actually a bloody brilliant idea.

...then they turned him into a generic "FUCK AMERICA!" heel. If they made him pro-America but anti-racism, hating the fans for being racist towards him, it would've worked. But they took the easy/low route, and now he's gonna be on TV anymore.
