Art Sandusky Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Heaven forbid he actually get a straight answer out of the guy. Why can't Republicans admit they're Republicans? Shit, even Mitt Romney kept saying "conservative" and "liberal" at the convention. It's sad to see the last resort of the ideologically senile in its current form Republican party is to make you forget their name.
Guest Vitamin X Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Holy shit that Chris Matthews interview was bad. JUST BECAUSE YOU YELL YOUR POINT OVER THE OTHER GUY DOESN'T MEAN YOU'RE RIGHT, CHRIS. How many questions is Matthews allowed to ask before the non-answers and bullshit piss him off? Guy got what he deserved. Sure, that's all well and good, but could you have honestly sat through even the first minute of that interview objectively and feel like the other guy didn't even have a chance to respond because Chris was too busy berating him? Matthews is awful.
Timmy8271 Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 It's MSNBC, what do you expect, Fair and Balanced?
Jobber of the Week Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 That dude was bullshit. Matthews likes answers that address the question. He doesn't like answers to yes/no questions that begin with "Well, Chris..." and then head off down another raod. This guy, for instance, got smacked down for using talking points without knowing what the fuck he was talking about. He not only got owned, but angry Republicans arguing on message boards stopped using the WWII analogy for negotiating with hostiles after it got debunked in this clip. And it's that complete implosion in front of a nationwide audience that shuts down a stupid sound bite entirely like this one.
Guest Vitamin X Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Matthews also doesn't recognize his own partisanship. Whatever. Chris Matthews is like hot air, very loud hot air. He's the Stephen A. Smith of political commentary, he's maybe worse than O'Reilly- and I'm, supposedly, "on his side". But fuck. At least the video JOTW posted is more tolerable. It works when he has a guest who gets all worked up and loud and excited so that Matthews doesn't have to and then doesn't look like a total schmuck for yelling over people, interrupting them, and threatening to cut off the interview. Well, 2 out of 3 wasn't bad.
PILLS! PILLS! PILLS! Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 This made me think of this. Popcorn!
PUT THAT DICK IN MY MOUTH! Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Matthews also doesn't recognize his own partisanship. Whatever. Chris Matthews is like hot air, very loud hot air. He's the Stephen A. Smith of political commentary, he's maybe worse than O'Reilly- and I'm, supposedly, "on his side". But fuck. Matthews is hardly a down-the-line Democratic partisan. He's more of a power and masculinity-worshiping buffoon (cf. "Fred Thompson is a real man who smells of English leather and aqua velva," etc). His shameful work during the 2000 and 2004 elections should put the lie to any notion that he's some kind of paid shill for the DNC.
SuperJerk Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 Matthews was on his soapbox, and it didn't matter WHAT the guy said, he was going to make his point. But when the guy DID get a word in edge-wise, though, his answers were absolutely idiotic.
At Home Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 So has anyone noticed that the Obama plan will increase national debt over the next 10 years by $3.5 trillion, and the McCain plan by $5 trillion (according to the tax policy center)?
SuperJerk Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 So has anyone noticed that the Obama plan will increase national debt over the next 10 years by $3.5 trillion, and the McCain plan by $5 trillion (according to the tax policy center)? Do you mean increase the debt to $3.5-5 trillion more than it is today, or increase it to $3.5-5 trillion more than the amount it will probably already be increasing by if we keep the current taxation and spending levels? __________________________________________________ More info on what a shitty mayor Sarah Palin was... http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/18/pal...rena/index.html __________________________________________________ Article, on the Fox News website of all places, accurately reporting on the Biden/Patriotism/Taxes "controversy". http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/09/18/bi...how-patriotism/ Interview with Warren Buffet from last year on NBC that reinforces the point...
Spaceman Spiff Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 Sarah Palin found the SNL sketch to be hilarious. Oh, and she watched it with the sound off.
Jobber of the Week Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 Listening to this Obama's speech geared toward women in Missouri, and out of nowhere there's a massive chant and I hear him go "whoa, whoa, okay.. Okay.." and now I'm struggling to get the video to come up, there's a crowd of people in the corner holding up signs that say things like "blacks against Obama" and "Obama (unreadable) KKK." Isn't that special...
naiwf Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 It said Obama was endorsed by the KKK I believe. Another couple of signs mentioned he was for abortion and gay marriage.
Jobber of the Week Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 It said Obama was endorsed by the KKK I believe. This means people took satire seriously.
Jobber of the Week Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 Just saw this during the local news ad break:
NoCalMike Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 I didn't want to post the same article in two threads, so lets just say I hope this study http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080919/sc_nm/iraq_lights_dc gets picked up and covered more by the corporate media and possibly referenced during the debates, because there were plenty of people saying this sort of thing back when the media and republicans were out there pushing the "Surge is working, you liberals were wrong all along" rhetoric.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 Im tired of hearing about Maryland Senator Wayne Gilchrest, a former Republican (Im assuming by now since he's burning bridges with the party left and right after he got beat by Andy Harris in the primary) endorsing Obama. He's just bitter that he got beat in the Primary by Andy Harris in a race that he was expected to waltz through to the General Election. Andy Harris is better for the district he's running for (Eastern shore plus parts of Baltimore) which leans pretty heavy towards the Republicans compared to the rest of the state. The fact that he as of late has turned into the 2nd least conservative Senator was a nail in his political coffin, which was hammered home by Andy Harris throughout the primary.
EricMM Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 Aw aw awwwwwwww who let him back in!? AND he comes back insulting Gilchrest...
AndrewTS Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 It's always funny to me when the moralists try to use gay marriage as a serious argument in this election. Yet they don't realize that Obama and McCain's stances on it are exactly the same.
Guest Vitamin X Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 Aw aw awwwwwwww who let him back in!? AND he comes back insulting Gilchrest... Check this out, an awesome idea: Scroll past his posts, don't reply, let him do his thing, and ignore him. It's a beautiful thing when it works. Besides, he's done his time. That was what, a month or so? We'll see.
Guest Brady's Torn ACL Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 Now let's exile Eric for a few weeks in the interest of curtailing goofy-looking and stupid Marylanders who are awful at posting.

MarvinisaLunatic Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 Aw aw awwwwwwww who let him back in!? AND he comes back insulting Gilchrest... He deserves the insult. Hes a sore loser who couldnt take the loss in the Primary without going nuts and turning on the Republican party on the way out and insulting every person (Including myself) who voted for him over the course of his (long) run in Congress. The media is picking up on this big time because they are saying that with Gilchrest's support, Kratovil might win and give the Democrats another seat in the House BUT that ain't gonna happen, and in fact I think its going to backfire because of people losing the respect that they had for Gilchrest. The media's also going "Hey! Look! A Republican is endorsing Obama!" but thats a joke. Gilchrest's voting record over the last few years had turned moderate and he was voting against the Republican Party on things like a time table for the Iraq war.
EricMM Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 Heaven forbid, a Republican who actually cares about the environment and the Iraq war. GET HIM OUT!!! Nuts to you, Marvin, his kind of support for the Bay may be the only way to ensure a financial future for those watermen who want to have a future there...
snuffbox Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 http://www.madison.com/tct/opinion/column/nichols/305805 Short article on The Mavericks' handling of Palin's trooper thing up north.
Jingus Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 I wish everyone would drop the "troopergate" thing already. The trooper in question, Mike Wooten, was apparently a real piece of shit who should've been fired. He made death threats, he tazed an 11-year-old kid, shoved his wife around, drank alcohol while driving his police cruiser, and committed various minor offenses. Why should this asshole have kept his job? I strongly disagree with Sarah Palin on, oh, 80% of the issues, but this ain't one of them. This guy should not have been wearing a gun and a badge, and anyone who tried to cover for him should've been punished too.
