RedJed 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2005 Why would you (a)have brets return on being a ref, during (b)the showdown between Hogan/HBK. That's such a waste. Hogan/HBK will draw some interest. Brets appearance will draw some interest. So why not maximize the potential draw and keep them separate? You could have HBK vs. Conway and still manage to draw a huge number with Bret being involved. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Like I said, sure HBK/Hogan alone with draw interest BUT if they ever had a rematch between the two (I NEVER said their SummerSlam match), a nice touch might be Bret as ref. The storyline could be ongoing heat with not just HBK but with Hogan as well from all the BS between those two in the past. And time in this happening at Survivor Series and it would be interesting as hell IMO. Ultimately thats probably the hottest return for Bret one can imagine at this point, since I dont see him ever playing into a storyline with Vince over the past. notJames 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2005 I agree with the opinion that Bret should not waste him time with any angles "Creative" could ever come up with, especially if it involves Jesus Boy. If he's really gonna go out with dignity, just do the DVD and the HOF. That's it. He doesn't need anymore than that. And WW_ have no right asking him for anything more. Guest drdrainoscott Report post Posted August 3, 2005 The WO.com says that Hart nearly didn't make his meeting today due to travel problems including his plane skidding off the runway in Toronto...am I correct in assuming he was then on the plane that exploded yesterday or was there another flight that skidding in Toronto yesterday? RedJed 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2005 Also from WO.com --WWE.com reported Dusty Rhodes meeting with Stephanie McMahon today. We have no other details other than the company has been adding a lot of writers of late, but it's also known they want him for their legends program. Rhodes has floated to WWE being interested in working on the writing end since he was fired/quit by TNA as an on-air performer. I'm really surprised by any discussions other than for the HOF or legends stuff. Although some may say he's better to have in a creative role than shitty hollywood writers, I just can't see him being involved in the writing given what happened with him in TNA. He basically had a chance to do something with the product, and more times than not, it didnt amount to much of anything.

My suggestions- "Bret Hart:The Best There Ever Was" "Bret Hart:Excellence of Execution" <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm in 100% agreement with this. It's a big reason why I'm for Bret being involved with his DVD. He would give it the quality control it needs and he seems to have moved on some since Montreal. WWE hasn't, which is why the current title is in place. They will NEVER be over Montreal.
pochorenella 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2005 Since the news about Dusty were already posted here I figured I'll tag this here, too. From PWinsider.com: -As reported earlier, Dusty Rhodes had a meeting scheduled with Stephanie McMahon today. It appears as if WWE is interested in bringing him into the creative team as well as having him be involved with the Hall of Fame, their Legends program, and promoting the upcoming Four Horsemen and Starrcade DVDs Four Horsemen and Starrcade DVDs?? ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2005 I think that the main reason that WWE refuses to forget about Montreal is that, in their eyes, it is what helped them finally beat back WCW. Think about it: Without the Montreal incident, there would have been no "Bret Screwed Bret" promo, which would have meant no hated Mr. McMahon character, which would have meant no "McMahon Hates Austin" stuff, which would have meant no McMahon/Austin "match" that had WWF (at the time) Raw beat WCW Nitro that night, and no continuing McMahon/Austin saga that helped people tune in to Raw. They see that as what brought them to what they consider their second golden age (the first being the Rock 'n' Wrestling Connection era), and they just don't want to let go of it. It certainly helped a lot, but Vince himself was just so good at playing the role. I see Austin vs. McMahon still happening and WWF still beating WCW. I think the REAL reason that WWE won't let go of Montreal is because they were never able to fully exploit the situation. Then there's the fact that WWE absolutely hates any criticism that they get (which they got after Montreal).
RedJed 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2005 McMahon would have never been even realized to BE a good heel in the first place if it wasnt for Montreal though, IMO.
Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2005 The impact of Montreal cannot over overstated. While Vince was indeed good at playing a heel, it was Montreal that really made the Vince heel character work, because it played off of a real life occurance, and not just another wrestling angle. Austin v McMahon would have done well without Montreal, but it did far more well with it than it would have without it.
