Joe: "So you're saying, the one guy who has been a constant on this young injured Atlanta Braves team, the leading home run hitter in the major leagues, the one guy Bobby Cox has been able to count on, has no chance at being the MVP." Tim: "Yes." Tim: "Why doesn't the firing of a manager make the sense that hiring him does?" Joe: "Well, I can't answer that, because I don't understand what you're trying to say." Bored 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2005 Where would Oakland's new stadium be located? I noticed that they have something of a map in your second picture, but is that close to the current stadium? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you look in the right corner of that picture you can see a sketch of the Coliseum and arena so it's pretty much across the street. And I agree with Czech I'd love for the new stadium to have the large foul territory as it would give it a unique feature from the other new ballparks but looks like they'll keep with the current trend of having the fans closer to the field. Of course all of this is just a plan and no deal has been struck as of yet but this is the most progress there has been on a new park to date.

Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2005 Is Pavano getting tommy john surgery, or is there any other reason hes out for the year? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I dont think so, I guess cuz they said he would be out 6 more weeks, that means he would have to come back like the last week of the season and he wouldnt have enough time to get the rust off, especially if they do get in the playoffs. I just hope Wright is decent. I think Small should stay in the rotation for a while, but understandbly they want to get something from their investment in wright. Pavano however has not really been missed, as he was barely effective at all this year from the little I saw of him. If wright can pitch decent and randy's back holds up I think they will do just fine. Small and Chacon have been pleasant surprises and Moose is a gamer. To bad Wang is also still out, however. If Boston's offense goes cold, they may lose some games (if their pitching continues to give up 5,6, 7,8 runs a game) and obviously the WC is in reaching distance. and remember they have 6 more games against the red sox in sept/oct, if they hover around the 3 games back mark around that time, well you know. but that's just how I see it Mike. Never give up, cuz stranger things have happened.

The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2005 I get the impression that Hawk Harrelson is a dumbshit! "I really have to believe that we're the best team we've ever seen all year!" "I don't care if that Oakland club beat us 2-7, we're a better ball club than they are and that's that!" "Let me tell you, Ozzie is gonna figure this out and if we get Oakland first round, I like our chances! I really do!"

devo 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2005 Roger Clemens really is fucking amazing. 8 scoreless innings on 88 pitches, lowering his era to 1.32. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sucks that the Astros couldn't give him an ounce of run support. Guy's almost definitely the best pitcher in the Majors with a record of 11-4. That if nothing else tells you how bad the Astros' offense is this year. Mik 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2005 The newest member of the Baseball Tonight crew... HELL FUCKING YES! And he's actually pretty good at it. Easily better than Steve Phillips and Larry Bowa already. The flashbacks they showed of him in 1993 reminded me how much teal actually used to be on the field back then. Glad they toned it down. The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2005 I concur. More teal, less silver and black. You are not the Raiders. You are not the White Sox. You play in Miami and are named for a fish. Be gaudy.

Guest Smues Report post Posted August 14, 2005 I don't think it will happen but there's still the chance that the team that finishes 5th in the NL East would have a better record than 1st in the NL West. That just seems wrong.
