RAW's move to USA is getting hyped nicely

With all this talk about the TNA commercials on Spike TV, today I noticed Universal is doing quite a nice job of Hyping WWE as well.

 

Earlier while watching MSNBC I saw a commercial promoting RAW's move to USA, and then saw the same one just now while watching Jay Leno.

While the arrival of Dusty raises red flags in my mind, the stories are on average a lot better than they were just two years ago. Still predictible, of course, but not as bad.

 

Yes, the matches will always suck, but Hulk Hogan proved that only the long-term fans care about a good match, anyway.

Aren't pretty much every fan that watches the WWE now a "long-term fan". I don't think they've picked up many new fans in the past 5 years.

 

Raws storylines suck and can't compete with the worst-written show on any cable, network, or public access station.

I started watching in 99 in the height of Russo ridulopathy. I think around the tim that Val Venis was going out with Ken Shamrock's sister or something.

 

But if you've ever been to a live show lately you'll see that there's a lot of people who don't care about the match so much. In fact, people tend to get confused if the finish isn't well broadcasted beforehand. Cena/JBL at WrestleMania was terrible, but everyone was kind of hesitant to pop for the finish because the F-U came out of clear nowhere and people were kind of assuming it was a last-moment 2 count.

 

Of course, the main events at WM sucked for other reasons, such as heels dominating and faces pulling wins out of nowhere.

The problem is RAW doesn't have a big babyface star on top right now. There is no Rock or Austin. John Cena is the closest thing to that right now, but he's nowhere close to their league in terms of mainstream crossover popularity.

The USA Network website already has a WWE section. Right now it's just an ad saying that WWE is coming back to USA though.

 

The thing that sucks about RAW moving back to USA is we have to put up with Dog Shows and Tennis preempting RAW like the old days.

I wish TNA could have had a "special" on Spike the first week that RAW would be gone in the RAW time slot, in order to try and hook in the viewers who might not know RAW is jumping to USA.

To be honest, WWF never should've left USA in the first place. I remember when all the drama was going on, but I still look at Spike as a second rate cable station. Just like when they were still TNN and I tried to watch ECW on their shitty station.

Yes. However WWE was completely aware that would happen.

The effect on the ratings when Raw moved from USA to TNN was minimal. WWE regularly used that as an excuse for ratings they weren't happy with, but it's a poor excuse at best.
