RavishingRickRudo Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Their video package for Michaels/Hogan was tremendous. Though a lot of their montages are their generic pap, that one shows their production guys are able to go beyond their standard fare and do something special. I wouldn't get rid of those guys.
MillenniumMan831 Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Coach does a great job on commentary. I wouldn't change that.
Downhome Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 That's one of the only things I wouldn't change up also. Say what you will about WWE, but the production team, whoever puts together the video packages, has been solid for the most part for many years. I like what they are doing for the commentating teams right now for the most part, with the three man on RAW and Cole and Tazz on SD. If things were to change, I could live with that staying the same. I'd keep going with Benoit's current deal, and Ken Kennedy. Everything else, from top to bottom, needs to be changed up.
CanadianChick Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Right now, I wouldn't change the amount of interview/air time the champions are both getting. They aren't getting overexposed like champions of the recent past have.
RavishingRickRudo Posted September 4, 2005 Author Report Posted September 4, 2005 I think Josh Mathews should be elevated to Smackdown Commentary on a trial basis. Put him in the Mike Tenay role for select matches to provide history and context. Then try Tazz/Josh, cause they were the best team the WWE had during their Velocity time together. So yeah, Josh is a keeper. I like the idea of a 3 man team, but I don't like the idea of Coach being in there as he confuses The King on his role. I enjoyed Coach when he was commentating with Raven, however.
Lord of The Curry Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 I enjoy Coach with King and Ross. I find it's pretty clear cut that Coach is the heel, Ross is the face and King is the tweener. I don't really think he confuses him that much as King picks his spots when it comes to his heel work, he's dumbed it down quite a bit lately.
razazteca Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 The only thing that should not change is the monday night timeslot......everything esle can be replaced, changed, dumped.
Downhome Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 I haven't cared for the Lawler/JR team in years, but the addition of Coach has really helped the RAW booth. I wouldn't even think of going back to just Lawler/JR now.
Guest Coffey Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 "Nobody can break the Masterlock." I wouldn't change that. They have to make it remain credible, otherwise the entire WWE stint for Masters will have been wasted. Carlito being the IC champion and never wrestling. It's like a throwback to HTM. He's the champ but he never does anything. Seems like a good way to get heat if they'd expand on it. Maybe re-enforce the thirty day rule, then on the last day, he wrestles a jobber like Gillberg or something. That'd be hilarious. Teasing the smarks. It's weird how they're doing it but it seems to be working. The Matt Hardy titantron. Expecting Bret Hart to show up. Anticipating the return of HHH, Brock & Trish. Shooty promos. The return of the Ross Report. It's almost like they're throwing us bones. "Hey, we're going back to USA, we know you're there, please follow us." Ric Flair going crazy and elbow dropping his jacket. You can never go wrong with that. I enjoy the three man commentary on Raw immensely.
Lord of The Curry Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 The Ross Report isn't teasing the smarks when Jim is working as much as he is shooting. If anything I'd consider this a step back to the kayfabe world.
Guest Coffey Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 What I meant was, it's obvious marks don't read it. It's out there for "us" regardless of what it's content is. Although with Oklahoma losing, I can guess what the content of the next one will be.
Guest Zarock Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Both the Cabana and Melina um, bein employed.
PLAGIARISM! Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Keep Regal on tv with Burchill cos he's back to form in and out of ring. Keep the title on Batista until Brock signs or Burchill becomes a threat. Got to disagree on the Carlito/Honky thing, I don't think that will ever work again without devaluing the belt unfortunately.
Guest Coffey Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 It's not like the belt can be worth any less....
razazteca Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 It's not like the belt can be worth any less.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Give the belt to a diva.
TheInsane Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 I would not change: * Tazz on commentary * I would keep the two brands * I like the gimmicks/personalities of the following: Benoit, JBL, Masters, Eddie, Rey, Angle, RVD (if they keep the newly introduced "shoot gimmick"), Carlito, Christian and Regal. * Gimmick/personalities I dont necesarrily like but that they should keep because they work: Cena, Batista, HHH etc. * The big hype for WrestleMania as THE event of the year. * The Royal Rumbvle as something really important each year (basically a stepin making WrestleMania the biggest thing of the year). * The video packages are usually good. * I would keep Benoit as the US champ to make sure it would become a workrate title (like the plan was for a while). * Dont remove THE FIST~ from Smackdown. * The recent focus on making finishers mean the ultimate end. I say that with The Masterlock and the Crippler Crossface in regard. Also Takers tombstone if protected pretty good.
Guest Coffey Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 It's not like the belt can be worth any less.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Give the belt to a diva. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You mean like when Chyna held it? Yeah, it's already happened.
tominator89 Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Good: WWE acknowledging wrestling history. Even small things like JR saying "Stinger Splash" considering the guy's never been in the company. Bad: The revisionist history
Papacita Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Right now, I wouldn't change the amount of interview/air time the champions are both getting. They aren't getting overexposed like champions of the recent past have. I agree with this for the most part. That's probably the main thing I've enjoyed about Raw and Smackdown lately, because the shows seem a lot more fresh without one guy all over the shows every week. I think they may wanna step things up with Batista a little bit though, because with the little amount of airtime he gets, I actually forget he's got the belt a lot of the time. Other than that....Smackdown's ring is pretty. Real pretty.
The Mandarin Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 I would not change.. ..the thing that they have with.. ..the guy and-- the thing. I think I liked a video package that they had too. The rest can go.
Fökai Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 Cena and Batista holding onto their respective belts this long. Eddie and Benoit's reigns should've ended somewhere between Summerslam and Survivor Series. For these two, I'd let them hold the title until someone really steps up their character.
AnonymousBroccoli Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 Maria should keep doing what she's doing for the time being. And I still want to see her and Eugene hook up and make retarded bimbo babies.
Guest Ransome Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 In addition to the onair production team, whoever's in charge of arranging and compiling their DVDs is doing an excellent job, since most of the original DVDs they've been releasing have been top-notch. Eric Bischoff should also remain as RAW GM, if the role had to continue. The concept of the brand extension should stay also
Guest JoeJoe Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 I wouldn't change the 4 sided ring to a 6 sided one. Yup, thats about it.
PLAGIARISM! Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 As for HHH being off tv, sure it's pretty refreshing, but it sure as hell hasn't resulted in watchable Raw main events...
Spaceman Spiff Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 I'll take the last Cena/Jericho match over 99% of HHH's ME matches from the last year.
2GOLD Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 Maria should keep doing what she's doing for the time being. And I still want to see her and Eugene hook up and make retarded bimbo babies. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh come on, you can't get any worse than Christy and Eugene. The kid would not only be stupid but be running around like he ate 30 bowls of sugar.
