Hilarious moment with Chavo reversing the golf cart after the match ended.

-

Everything else on the show.

EDIT: It looked like Hurricane knocked Murdoch loopy on that first clothesline out of the hot tag, so that explains why Murdoch was not responding to his offense.

It doesn't sound like I'll have to go out of my way to try to find a download of Raw this week, then.

I'll have a new satellite system by September 13th, though. If Unforgiven looks like it's going to suck, though, I most likely won't bother buying it.

Flair wanting to "take a bite" out of Carlito's ass doesn't sound too promising, even though I never wanted to see Flair vs. Carlito in the first place.

I am glad to see WWE are as predictable as I expected. Michaels will win the PPV match now.

Alright Raw. I liked the main event and the tag team match.

Hopefully Jon Voight and Burt Reynolds enter the tag team division as well.

Flair needs to stop grabbing male crotches.

But, but, he's the "greatest wrestler of our time" - surely all of those crotch grabs, low blows and punches are a testament to his superior in-ring ability.

My favorite aspect of Raw last night was the attempt to rebuild a tag team division. We saw two seperate matches involving four teams they want to pass off as a "real" team. So even if the Heart Throbs have no heat, Venis and Viscera are annoying, and the tag champs are jobbers, this is still a step in the right direction at this point.

Should I be surprised at the near complete lack of reaction that Masters got?

If this is the first time you've watched wrestling and see that both the full nelson and/or narcissist gimmicks never get over.

Georgeous George was over. (the old wrestler, not the hooker that accompanied Macho Man to the ring in WCW).

Gorgeous George also wrestled 50 years ago. In the past half century since then nobody has gotten over with this gimmick. Besides, George was doing a pseudo gay type gimmick and that's what got him over, not the narcissist aspect.

Carlito isn't a jobber, but he looks like one. The guy has no physique, no believable offense, no finisher. I ask you, what does that sound like? A 1989 Saturday morning JOBBER. Hell, some jobbers like Barry Horowitz were infinitely more talented.

I think Carlito has a role as a manager or doing the Cabana, but there's no way someone with zero in ring ability should have the 2nd most important title on the show.

I think they've realized how spectacularly crappy Carlito is in the ring, which is why they've kept him out of it and just had him do the cabana for the past month or so.

Of course, it would have been better if they realized this before putting the IC title on him, but better late than never.

Yeah, it's silly to assume that an eight time WWC (the Puerto Rican equivalent of the WWE) Universal Champion would have any ability that's supressed because his character's supposed to be a cowardly heel. Just ridiculous.

Seriously though, does anybody know a place with his WWC matches up for download? I imagine he's quite good there, where he doesn't have to hold back because of his persona.

Gorgeous George would say "Get Your Filthy Hands off my Gimmick"

I haven't seen enough of Carlos Colon to say really, but I did used to have an old AWA toy of him if I remember correctly. I liked those AWA toys, haha...even the Greg Gagne one.

I dunno about Carlito in WWC but I did see him at an OVW taping shortly before he debuted on Smackdown. And he sucked. Same nothing headlock based offense with nothing interesting or credible.

Carlito matches might be better if he was a chickenshit heel who got his ass kicked the entire match and knew how to sell. Thing is, in most of his matches he gets most of the offense and he sucks so hard at that.

I'm not an expert on Puerto Rican wrestling, but I don't think Carlos Colon has ever been regarded as a great wrestler in the US. He's known mostly for his bloody battles with guys like Bruiser Brody and Abdullah the Butcher (possibly the longest running feud ever in pro-wrestling history) more than anything. I think you could compare him to a guy like Dusty Rhodes...not a great worker, but can work a decent brawl and has lots of charisma, and has drawn consistently good croweds over the years.

"I think Carlito has a role as a manager or doing the Cabana, but there's no way someone with zero in ring ability should have the 2nd most important title on the show. "

And some guys who have wrestled him in the WWC say that he does have a better moveset than he has shown including some high-flying moves. To me, he's just wrestling like a heel - restholds (although he doesn't hold them for long, thankfully), punches and kicks, cheap shots. Suppose he did, say, a moonsault - which I heard that he can do? The crowd would pop and, as a heel, he is not supposed to get such a reaction. I'm not saying the guy's a covert Rey or anything; just that he's wrestling in a lacklustre way because it fits his heel character and not because he can't do any better. Now, if he still wrestles as he currently does when he turns face eventually, then I'll happily admit to his total mediocrity in the ring. As to him holding the IC title, I don't see it as a problem on a sports entertainment show. Being an entertainer - as opposed to a wrestler - will probably always be his strongest suit, heel or face.

Did you forget John Cena holds the most important title on the show?

While Cena's not exactly good, I'd say he's much, much better than Carlito has ever been in the ring.

Cena has some over spots that he does in his match and his selling's okay, but Carlito has absolutely nothing once he gets in the ring. I don't think he has a finisher or any trademark moves. Nothing he does in the ring has flow or pops the crowd, other than getting beaten up. He should be a jobber.

While that may be true, it doesn't take away from the fact that Victoria is a better worker than the WWE champ.

Someone should bring a sign that says.

The Champ Is Here?, Where I can't see him?

I am greatly disappointed with Cade and Murdoch.

I don't think this quote should go unrecognized. I've seen a couple of people say that they "like" Cade & Murdoch. I'm just curious, what from that match could get them on your "good" side? Murdoch moves around like a sloppy Stan Hansen but doesn't seem to have a fourth of his workrate. It's like, people are saying the best part of the match was the reaction to the Hurricane pose. The point was made that it wasn't a good thing, yet, that should be elaborated on. Seriously, when these two new wrestlers, whom were hyped for weeks with vignettes, debut and are that bad, you can't say "things are looking good."

I just don't understand the mindset of some people. We have people saying things like "alright Raw" or "better than usual." I'm curious what the fuck y'all think does suck if you don't think this show did. Seriously.

The majority seem to agree that Raw was awful, however I want to see the people who "didn't think it was that bad" defend the show. In fact, make a list. There's no way that the positives side is longer than the negatives side.

As one of Cade and Murdoch's proponents, I'm not saying they're the saviours of the division. I won't lie, I really only like their reactions and personalities. I think there's some potential as far as that's concerned, even if they lack what they do inside the ring. Fuck, you say it as if they were a complete embarassment on a Tomko or Heidenreich level.

However, it is a sad state of affairs when that tag was pretty much the best thing of the night. We got a large amount of matches, but a great number of them were flat out awful and even worse, had no fucking business being on TV (Torrie/Avril).

Cena isn't totally talentless or anything, but is more of a guy who really does seem to do a lot of silly spots due to his character. When he debuted as the bland rookie Cena I was moderately impressed with his ring skills (he seemed a 2nd rate Sting type).

I repeat: I saw Carlito down in OVW and I don't think he was a heel then. Or if he was it wasn't clear to me the infrequent OVW viewer at that point. Being a heel doesn't mean being a boring piece of shit, it means insulting the crowd, getting the crowd pissed off, cheating like a mofo. Unless you're Mick Foley in ECW, where he literally went out and grabbed headlocks for 10 mins. as a heel tactic. The difference was Foley was TRYING to suck....Carlito doesn't know any better.

narcissist gimmicks never get over.

Rick Rude and Mr. Perfect would like to have a word with you...

Alright, I'll adjust that. Purely narcissist gimmicks based on physique alone don't get over.

Rude had a womanizing, taunting personality that made all the men in the audience hate him. Plus he insulted the crowd seemingly every single night.

Perfect got over largely because he backed up most of what he said, and his arrogance came from from his technical ability not his body.

Big Show, upon hearing of the budding feud for SMORE supremacy, would sneak around looking for something to eat.

Dinsmore: Hey! You wanna smore?

Maria: Some more of what?

Dinsmore: No, no, no. Do you want a smore?

Maria: How can I have some more of something if I haven't had anything yet?

Dinsmore: You're killing me here...

JR: And now a word from our sponsers

*Blank Screen*

edited for realism.

That's more like it.

Rick Rude did the physique posedowns and all that but he got zero heat from that stuff. It's just boring watching a guy flex his muscles or talk about how strong he is (Dino Bravo had that problem).

Mr. Perfect was over mostly due to winning all of his matches from his initial push, not to mention the vignettes showing him doing all sorts of athletic feats. He didn't just flex his muscles.

Chris Masters might be able to get over if he had something else. This was something that Luger always had a problem with...most of his act was based on posing and flexing muscles. He wasn't amazing in the ring (aside from Flair carrying him) and not much on the mic.

I'm just waiting for Masters to start talking about his 4% body fat. I have to admit I'd mark out for that.

That is just one example of many in where WWE is doing things backwards.

They are hiding strengths and accentuating the weaknesses of just about every new act that has come on the scene in the last year.
