Sass 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2005 In WWC, matches there are still worked like out of the 1970's. Blood and plunder are used to cover up weaknesses and added to grab fans attention. The full nelson is a finishing move down in Puerto Rico. It's the equivalent to a powerbomb here in the States. It can either finish a match or send someone out on a stretcher. The Colon family, sans the daughter, blow as workers. At least Carlos' daughter is good looking.
notJames 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2005 … Chris Masters might be able to get over if he had something else… Like what? His mic work is horrible, his ringwork is below pedestrian, his finisher is boring, he's not good looking nor is he charismatic… what could you possibly give him to cover up his seemingly endless string of adequacies? Shawn Daivari as his manager?!?!? The only thing that might get a real pop is if he transitioned his full nelson into a dragon suplex. It would not only increase his arsenal by 50%, it's a believable finisher after the "devastation" of a full nelson. Of course, I don't trust his ability to pull it off safely or even moderately convincingly. I don't think his opponents would either. I'm just waiting for Masters to start talking about his 4% body fat. I have to admit I'd mark out for that. Why?

Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2005 Should I be surprised at the near complete lack of reaction that Masters got? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And what show are you watching? Masters got a very sizeable reaction everytime he was on the mic or in front of the crowd. He is quite over whether you chose to acknowledge that or not. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Go and watch Raw again. He got little reaction coming out for the Masterlock Challenge. Any heat that segment got was all for Shawn. When Masters was standing over a bloody and fallen Shawn, listen again, this time with your ears open. He got little reaction. Again. He isn't very over. He's not even close to being 'quite' over, so I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2005 Here's the thing...when Rude debuted in the WWF he wasn't particularly good either, but he got better. Maybe Masters needs to start insulting fans constantly as Rude did? Maybe work in some variations on the Masterlock, like that Dragon Suplex variation or maybe a version where he just goes forward with it and drives the guy's face into the mat. Idea: Job Carlito out of the IC division and make him Masters' manager.
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2005 What does it matter? They are both green machines who can't work. The difference is Carlito actually gets reactions cause he's over to the marks. Masters isn't nearly as over, but I think he may eventually get there. Still, neither man deserves to be holding a title right now, even one as insignificant as the IC title. Masters isn't nearly as over, but I think he may eventually get there. Maybe it was SD's "enhanced" audio, but it seems to me that Carlito isn't nearly as over on Raw as he was on SD. He really isn't getting noteworthy reactions, and most times the crowd is fairly reserved when he comes out.
humongous2002 0 Report post Posted September 8, 2005 pushing new talent only works if they're any good to begin with. not JUST huge. Vince needs to realize this. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Remmember when Rocky debuted in '96, everyone hated him and note just for his bland character, he was a green wrestler with basic moves in the ring. Not saying that Masters could be the next Rock, but we can't expect every guy these days to break out of the gate and take the audience by storm. Esecially with the restrictive nature of how WWE lays out matches. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You are trying to compare apples with oranges, the main reason the WWF were pushing Rocky down our throats back in 96 was the fact that the roster didn't have that many big stars at the time and they were in need of finding their next big thing. The only big stars the WWF had at the time was HBK, Taker and Bret, Sid bombed as a champion, Vader was getting jobbed out, Austin and Mankind were still trying to get over and the Outsiders (Nash and Hall) left the WWF for WCW. Nowadays the WWE is full of guys with amazing talents but WWE refuses to showcase their skills and instead they keep on pushing heatless untalented workers just because of their "looks".
