Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted September 17, 2005 So I decided it's probably time to pick up a credit card. Problem is, I'm not sure which one to pick up. As with everything in life, wrestling fans who post on message boards know all so I decided to get a discussion about credit cards going here. What credit card do you use? What are their advantages and disadvantages? Hate them or love them?
the max 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2005 Capital One. Disadvatage: Having a 19% interest rate. Advantage: Building credit to get a real credit card is easy because they CO accepts everyone.
Mik 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2005 I have an MBNA World Points eBay card with an interest rate of 8.99%. Advantage: Really low interest rate Disadvantage: ?
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2005 I have a TD Canada Trust GM Visa. We get points for everything we spend toward a new car. We got $1000 or $1500 off our last car, I think. Of course, the interest rate is 18.9%, which sucks, but whaddaya gonna do...
Dr. Tyler; Captain America 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2005 If you're eligible to get USAA, you get awesome interest rates and a rather high starting limit. If not, well, I get awesome interest rates and a high limit.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2005 I have a Visa issued by Bank of America. Its strictly a "for emergency use only" mainly because of the shitty interest rate (I think its like 21%). The only advantage I can think of is that its directly linked to my bank account online and I can pay it immediately instead of having to wait for them to decide to credit it and then go late fee happy on it. But chances are if its a big enough emergency to need to use it, I won't be able to avoid the interest and late fees..so..doesn't really matter. The only other Credit Card I have is Best Buy. I took advantage of their No interest for 2 years on HDTVs last october and no interest for 6 months on $300+ to buy my HD-Tivo.

BruiserKC 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2005 Only credit cards I have are a Chase VISA, First USA Mastercard, Kohl's and JC Penney's. And the Penney's one won't be too much longer for this world since I just don't use it.

The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2005 You're cool, I just don't understand HDTV, since I generally watch just 2-3 hours a week these days.
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2005 I have several: Citi Mastercard, Bank One Visa and Discover. I also have Sears and Kohls cards but I just use those when I get extra discounts by using them. My three "main" ones all have cashback offers, and I use the Citi one for everyday purchases. Discover to buy scoopable litter at Sam's Club (that's about all I use it for) and the Bank One is for emergencies. I don't know what the interest rates are because I pay everything off when it's due. The only exception to this is my Discover which has $900 of my !@#$ wedding bill because the better half couldn't pay her share of the expenses off... Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2005 I'm not expert in the matter, Boon, but I do believe I was told before that there's a grace period (more than 2 days, at least) before it actually hits your credit report...as long as you pay whatever ridiculously high late payment fee they make you pay... When I replied, "So that means I can cheat whenever I want," she said, "I'd just kill you..."

Now if I can just sell my soul to pay off the late fee, I'll be in business. Start the bidding at $5.

Skywarp! 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2005 Get a Mastercard or Visa, since any place you patronize is bound to take one or the other, if not both. Some foreign countries are only capable of charging to these two. It even helps in those situations to have both, since a given business might only accept one or the other. Discover cards are supposed to be great with rewards and customer service, but they don't get accepted everywhere.
yankovic fan 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2005 This thread would be more helpful if everyone posted their credit card #'s, security keys, and expiration dates. OH and name as it appears on the card.

Fökai 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2005 Debit card, sucka. My only experience with credit cards are seeing my friends knee-deep in payments. I'm cheap by nature and far from an impulse buyer, so it suits me well.
Skywarp! 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2005 ^ Then you would be good at building a strong credit history. All you need to do is buy one little thing every month and pay it off in full. If you plan on buying a house someday, it would be a good idea to build up a history.
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2005 That was the reason I dipped into credit cards. Plus I figure with cash back I'll get money for purchases I was going to make anyway. Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2005 it's necessary, these days, to at least have one...just don't be a jackass with it...use it for emergencies only or if you really feel compelled to by something, do your best to pay it off within the next month.... CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2005 Do credit card payments that are late by like two days go on your credit report, and how much can that fuck you over? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Payments have to be 30 days late before they show up as a black mark on your credit report. They track payments that are 30 days overdue, 60 days overdue, and 90 or more days overdue. Incidentally, getting a copy of your credit report and credit score annually is a very wise idea.
