Howard and Utley hit HRs, 6-1 Phillies.

Clemens won't be making his start tomorrow, so if they lose tomorrow and the Phillies can bomb Milton tomorrow night, they'll be tied for the Wild Card.

Just as I'm typing this the Reds get runners at the corners. Oh for god fucking sakes, do not blow this lead.

Tejada better hit a fucking grandslam to make up for those 3 runs he let happen after his throwing error.

Wow the Phillies had a 6-1 lead and are now down 8-6. These final innings will test them as to wheter or not they want to make the playoffs.

Yeah well look at the Orioles. Fucking Tejada throws a ball away when it would have ended the inning. Boston goes on to score 3 runs an take the lead. Fucking orioles.

At least the Yankees are in position to win the division. Phils needed this game badly since Houston lost today...

Great now Boston takes a 6-3 lead over the orioles. Tejada should have his 2002 MVP award stripped for his bonehead throw.

Those fucking chokers. Blow a 6-1 lead against a fucking team that has packed it in already....and Manuel is a moron for having Fultz in for one batter then bringing in Madson who has sucked in the last couple games...

Ryan Madson has struggled, but I can not fault Manuel for going with him. He has the ability, and it is just a matter of confidence. Yes, it may be the pressure, but he's going to have to learn, and you can't sit him the rest of the way. To me, the real problem is leaving your top relievers out until you get to the 8th and 9th innings. By then the game is out of reach. Almost all managers manage by roles and not situations, and it is quite tiresome.

I don't blame the players though. If we were tied for the wild card instead of 1.5 back, this wouldn't be a big deal.

HOLY SHIT, and its a pro-Bell avatar now Al.

Can I still make fun of Manuel and Wade though for their mistakes?

To tell you the truth, I turned it off at 10-6 and started doing my LSAT studying since I thought it was over, but I just saw the highlights. Wow, those kinds of games the Phillies usually piss it away...

In half an hour I've gone from extreme depression to elation.  The Phillies are now ONE game back in the wild card.  And anti-David Bell signatures and avatars are now BANNED from TSM.

What if you aren't a philly fan and have always hated him? (not that I ever intend to have him in my sig or av, but just curious)

Yes.

For non-Philly fans, if you want to risk the wrath of the sports mod, be my guest.

You know, the Brewers are gonna be a real contender if they don't mess things up in the coming years.

Word. They have some players (Lee, Brady, Jenkins, Hardy, Fielder, Overbay (will be traded for someone decent, Capuano, and Sheets.) They've got Sheets locked up, so it's a start.

If the Cubs and Cardinals can help with a couple of wins over the Astros, the Phillies are going to the playoffs. Even though Brito has to pitch tomorrow night, they get to face Milton who they definitely can tack a ton of runs on, and I've heard that Pedro might be getting shut down for the year once the Mets are mathematically out of it, and they're supposed to face him Tuesday.

Yeah, this is almost definitely happening. Him being pulled in the fifth against the Marlins was essentially a precursor to that.

To be honest, I initially wasn't happy at all when the Mets signed him, but looking back on his first season with the team, he's been essential for what little success the Mets have had this year. He definitely lived up the high expectations the NYC fans and media had for him.
