SuperJerk Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 It aired tonight on UPN, in case you missed it. Not only is it funny, but its fun to watch a show about a kid growing up in the 80s. Anybody else watching?
BlackFlagg Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 this was on tonight too? g'damn, there are just to many shows on the Thursday 8-9 sched. OC, Alias, Smallville and this
DMann2003 Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 Yeah I caught it, real funny- Man for awhile netwrok had NOTHING worth watching- now I've got 24, Arrested Development, Lost, CSI, My Name is Earl, The Office, Everybody Hates Chris and maybe Invasion (I DVR'd the pilot and gonna watch it later).
KingPK Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 Yeah, about damn time the networks finally jumped off the reality TV wagon and is actually giving us some good series again. EHC is probably the best of them this year (Invasion was ok, as was How I Met Your Mother) Next week's show looks great too. "If that happens again, someone's getting stabbed!"
Ravenbomb Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 Yeah, but there's a few too many 1 hour Dramas all of a sudden, and they're all trying to be "weird." Thank Buddha for Earl.
AnonymousBroccoli Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 I thought it was great, and my brother and sister both seemed to like it too.
Downhome Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 I'm shocked you guys are praising it. When I first saw the commercials, I thought for sure it'd be nothing more than a throw away nothing show. I guess I'll be downloading this tonight and watching it tomorrow now, so damn you all. I went from not watching any TV at all one point last year, to now watching: -Arrested Development -Scrubs -The Office -Lost -My Name Is Earl -South Park -The Simpsons -Family Guy -American Dad -The Shield And possibly Everybody Hates Chris, but I'll see about that soon.
Da Maintenance Man Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 I'm lovin the show too so far. Hilarious... "Boy unplug that clock. You can't tell time when you sleep!" *Milk spilled all over a table* "It's 49 cents worth of milk on this table! Somebody gon' drink this milk!"
SuperJerk Posted September 23, 2005 Author Report Posted September 23, 2005 TV got better once movies started sucking again. I had hope for movies around 1998-2000, but TV has overtaken them in quality. There are bad TV shows of course, but the best TV blows away the best movies these days.
Guest Vitamin X Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 There are bad TV shows of course, but the best TV blows away the best movies these days. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> LIES. Although I think the worst movies do indeed suck worse than the worst TV shows nowadays. I haven't seen bad movies this bad since the 70's.
Placebo Effect Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 Yeah, about damn time the networks finally jumped off the reality TV wagon and is actually giving us some good series again. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Good news is that the Martha Stewart Apprentice bombed, which is just another nail in the coffin.
Placebo Effect Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 I don't see how the show is "hilarious," as the show was light on jokes, but it was still very fun to watch. My eyes almost popped out of my head when 'nigger' was said twice; UPN comedy and all. I'll keep watching.
cabbageboy Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 I believe it is Terry Crews playing his dad on the show, right? He's great in the stuff I've seen him in...hell, I thought he was easily the bright spot in White Chicks and his cheeseburger schtick got some laughs in Longest Yard.
bob_barron Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 When I first saw the commercials, I thought for sure it'd be nothing more than a throw away nothing show How have you not heard anything about this show? It's been hyped as UPN's saviour since May
bob_barron Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 From mediaweek- Over at once dominant NBC, the lights continue to dim on Thursday. The one-hour season-premiere of Joey (just what we needed, right?) dipped to a mere 6.3/ 9 in the overnights, 7.84 million viewers and a 3.2/ 9 among adults 18-49 from 8-9 p.m. To illustrate just how weak Joey is, take a look at the first half-hour versus the series-premiere of UPN’s higher-rated Everybody Hates Chris: Thursday 8-8:30 p.m. Joey (NBC) – season premiere Overnights: 6.1/ 9 (#4), Viewers: 7.57 million (#3), A18-49: 3.0/ 9 (#3) Everybody Hates Chris (UPN) – premiere Overnights: 6.6/10 (#2), Viewers: 7.58 million (#2), A18-49: 3.2/ 9 (#2) Everybody Hates Chris was most-watched sitcom in the history of UPN, building from former occupant WWE Smackdown! on the year-ago evening by 3.58 million viewers, 53 percent among adults 18-34, and 78 percent among adults 18-49. Ignited by Chris, UPN year-to-year was up 10 percent on Thursday among adults 18-49.
Downhome Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 When I first saw the commercials, I thought for sure it'd be nothing more than a throw away nothing show How have you not heard anything about this show? It's been hyped as UPN's saviour since May <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I couldn't care less about hype. The commercials for the show didn't make it look like anything special to me. I just watched the first episode, and I'll continue to watch it. It was bust out loud funny to me, but it was entertaining enough to get me to check out the second episode. It takes a quality show to get me to watch it, so the simple fact that I'm going to watch it again means a lot to me. I can't believe that the show is on UPN.
Placebo Effect Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 UPN > NBC We've entered bizarro world! So I guess it's fine and dandy to call Joey a definite failure now.
imajackoff? Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 It was a pretty enjoyable pilot. Kinda' strikes me as a black Wonder Years.
SuperJerk Posted September 24, 2005 Author Report Posted September 24, 2005 It was a pretty enjoyable pilot. Kinda' strikes me as a black Wonder Years. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If its on for another six years, they can actually have Chris watch "the Wonder Years" in an episode.
ant_7000 Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 I thought it was ok, Terry Crews was the bright spot in that garbage "White Chicks," he was funny as the dad, when he was trying to eat that little piece of chicken had me cracking up.
Guest Fishyswa Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 Saw a preview for it and it looked good, forgot to check out the premier. It could definitely be a black wonder years, but I'd rather they didn't try and just let it happen naturally. Love the dad calculating how much everything costs.
