Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2005 I thought I overreacted, and maybe was just frustrated, but theres a seven page thread on a Yankee board I visit that complained about the umping. In a nutshell: http://artpad.art.com/gallery/?innuv7aexj4 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> *points to the Yankees/Red Sox thread* Since apparently baseball is YANKEES/RED SOX and then everyone else we've got a whole different thread for this. snuffbox 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2005 What a great season. Milwaukee finally ends their streak of losing seasons at 12. Fuckin awesome.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2005 As a Cubs fan, I'm supposed to strongly dislike the Brewers (which I do when the two teams lock up), but something keeps me from being against them otherwise. Something about their fans during home game impresses me greatly. Perhaps it's the loyalty, creativity, or mixture of the two. Their announcers also are genuine fans of the team and together, it just has a great feel to it. I couldn't help but like the countdown they had going the last couple of weeks for the ensuring of a .500 season. It shows that this team's still got a ways to go before their serious contenders, but they've come a long way in a short time.
Guest TheDon Report post Posted October 1, 2005 Big 3 run homerun by Iguchi. White Sox take a 4-1 lead over the Indians.

Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2005 This is strangely reminescent of the Cubs' final week of the season last year. Poised to take the WC, they, like the Indians, had their fate in their own hands. Things look to be heading for a similar conclusion, sad to say. Clemens got into minor first-inning trouble, but Nomar decided it'd be good to swing at the first pitch following a walk. He can't be gone soon enough (as long as Neifi Perez doesn't = everyday SS next season).

Guest TheDon Report post Posted October 1, 2005 To think if the Indians miss the playoffs it is going to come down to their 6 game homestand where they lost 2 out of 3 to the Devil Rays and have lost the first 2 games to the White Sox who already clinched the Playoffs and are resting players. To think at one point Cleveland was so hot and winning every game.

therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2005 My Philadelphia Fox station didn't get an early game, so I'm guessing that each affiliate is only getting one game. Depends on what game your Scranton station got.

I can't think of a single contending team that didn't whip those guys around during the season. All the regulars were in there for the White Sox today, by the way. KingPK 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2005 So say the Red Sox win tomorrow to get the WC. What would the AL matchups be? The Yanks and Sox would have the same records, so how would they decide who is the #2 and #3 seed (since Anaheim would be #4, correct?)
MillenniumMan831 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2005 I'm pretty sure teams from the same division couldn't face each other in the 1st round. Better head-to-head record will decide it as there is no 1-Game playoff if both teams are already in the playoffs.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2005 Oh yeah, I forgot about that. So I guess the Red Sox, since they didn't win a division, would be #4 and play Chicago while the Yankees play Anaheim.

KingPK 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2005 And they did it WITHOUT Rocco Baldelli as well. If they can get some pitching together and a good manager to build on their good second half this year, they might be in the WC hunt next year. In fact, for part of the season at least, the AL East might be a four horse race next year (Baltimore being the odd team out).

Guest TheDon Report post Posted October 1, 2005 Indian fans remember how Jaret Wright and the Indians beat the Yankees 3-2 in the 1997 Divisional playoffs? Well Jaret Wright is going to keep Cleveland out of the playoffs this year. It is Jaret Wright vrs. Schilling tommorow in Boston. So even if Cleveland wins Boston is going to win as well.
