spman 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2005 So I made it to Manhatten today for Maury which was quite entertaining in itself, but anyways it just so happened that Carlito was making an appearence at Toys R Us in Tiems Square today. So for lack of anything better to do with my time and money, I walked over there, purchased his action figure and got in line. Compared to the stories I've heard about the lines to see Triple H and Batista at that place stretching blocks, and the line for Hogan when he was there that just went on forever, there was hardly anyone in line to see Carlito. The line stretched maybe near the end of the block if even that. I saw him when he first came up on the third level, and he seemed at least somewhat responsive to the crowd, but once I actually got near the front of the line, I could see that he looked completely disinterested, as if this was the last place he wanted to be at that moment. He wouldn't even smile for anyones pictures, he jsut about barely looked up at the camera. I just shook his hand, got his action figure signed, and said hi, he barely even utterd a response to that. Compare this to meeting Regal over the summer who was very humble towards his fans, and willining to chat for a few seconds, and Carlito just seemed like a complete asshole in comparison. Oh well, maybe he was just having a bad day? Oh well, at least I got his figure signed, and was able to get the new Simon Dean figure too, so it wasn't a total waste of time. Guest slmon Report post Posted September 29, 2005 Weird; everything I've read on the net suggests that he's friendly to fans. And a few wrestlers who wrestled here and there in his father's WWC said that he was very humble. I hope that success isn't going to turn him into an asshole instead of just playing one on TV. Silence 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2005 Remember the story a while ago about WWE having Eugene acting like his TV character in public and Jillian having to wear a bandage on her face away from WWE TV? That might be the same thing with Carlito. Then again, he didn't spit an apple in your face, at least. BTW, if you ever see Simon Dean, don't be surprised if WWE has him calling you "fat" even during promotional appearances.
spman 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2005 I can totally understand a wrestler wanting to protect their gimmick, but if that's the case, why even have heels do appearences int he first place?

BHK 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2005 Now see, what would have been far funnier, is had you run to the nearest store, purchased an apple, then asked Carlito to spit it on you while someone took a picture. Ah well. Maybe next time.

Styles 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2005 You know what would have been awesome? If there was a sign that said something like "no pictures" and someone asked to take a picture, and he responds "hey, read the sign, taking pitcures is not cool" and then he spit an apple... RepoMan 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2005 He could have just been having a bad day or whatever. It seems like a lot of wrestlers get labled as dicks based on one time experiences. But he could be a legitment dickhead so who knows?

cameron chaos 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2005 Apparently he is always a douche at signings. People wrote into Power Slam magazine here in the UK mentioning how he was the same way at Virgin Megastore signings in Scotland and Ireland. Apparently Booker, Rey and Dawn Marie were quite fan friendly while Carlito wouldn't actually pose for pictures, would just sign and say "Next".
Guest TheBASHER Report post Posted September 29, 2005 While he was in the UK Carlito appeared on the James Whale radio show, this is a show many wrestlers have appeared on over the years and usually they are not in character, but Carlito managed to remain in character for the near two hours he was on the show, this included remaining in character for callers questions also. I would guess that Carlito’s attitude at signings may be 5% boredom but 95% keeping character, if he is a face a few years from now and you go to another signing of his I would imagine It would be very interesting to see how he is in contrast to the heel period signing you attended. Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2005 the thing is, though, I've met Randy Orton and Batista during their Evolution run and they were nice as hell, Randy of course acted like a 22 year old idiot, but they were just regular guys....I met HHH at a signing a couple of years ago and he acted cool as can be...so either they really want Carlito to maintain kayfabe or he really is a dick... DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2005 Foley was nice enough the times I met him... and that must have been tough because one guy in front of me was very annoying! Foley said hello or something and the guy responded with "IT DOESN'T MATTER..." or what have you. Foley let out a laugh that sounded rather forced and unamused. Guest Amy Ace Report post Posted September 30, 2005 You wanna know whos a really great guy? Al Snow. I was out in Phoenix for Summerslam '03 and went to the Diva Search Contest at Jillians but since the actual show was gonna be in the bar area, you had to be at least 18 just to get in, and at that time I was only 17, so after waiting there for hours I couldn't see the show. Anyway,I decided to stick around and play games, and some of the people in line behind us were telling the security guards about me and Al overheard them and sent one of the guards to come get me and bring me back into the wrestlers' private green room. He introduced himself and asked what I was doing in Phoenix (since he heard I lived in Pittsburgh) he talked to me for a while about the business and then proceed to take me around the room and introduce me to all the wrestlers; Hurricane, Jericho, the Dudleyz, Stacy and Trish. He introduced me to Dr.Tom and told him I wanted to be a wrestler and said Tom was the guy to talk to about that. He was also nice enough to take a couple pictures with me, in short Al's by far the nicest wrestler I've ever met. He went way out of his way for me, and it's something I'll never forget. I got Foley's autograph at an Indy show about a month back and he seemed really disinterested. I don't hold it against him. He signed for everyone who wanted something (though their was maybe 500 to 1,000 tops). The nicest guy I got an autograph from was JR during his cookbook tour, and I didn't even buy his book. Maven and Hurican were pretty nice too. If a guy takes the time to sign something for me for free I don't really care if they're all nice and cheery.
death_by_burrito 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2005 I met Bubba Dudley a few years back at Ozzfest, and he kinda seemed like a dick. I didn't want to make scene or anything, so I went up to him quitely, told him I was a fan, and shook his hand. The whole time he seemed like he couldn't care less about anything I said, but then again, being in a crowd that big I was prolly the 100th person that went up to him, so I didn't hold it against him.
