dubq Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 ^^^^ I was surprised, that's for sure. Not even someone listening to it in the background or something, as a small reference (that I noticed, anyway).
Youth N Asia Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 I had it spoiled for me that there would be two deaths. I expected Book to die, but had completly forgotten all about there being another one by the time Wash got it.
Mole Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 Did anyone think that the robot was an ow to Buffy fans, seeing how it looked like of like Buffy? Â That is the first thing I thought of.
Blade2kxx Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 Was anyone else annoyed that the Firefly theme wasn't in the movie anywhere? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Â There's an instrumental of sorts at the end of the credits.
griffinmills Posted October 19, 2005 Report Posted October 19, 2005 Was anyone else annoyed that the Firefly theme wasn't in the movie anywhere? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Â There's an instrumental of sorts at the end of the credits. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Indeed there was.
Ravenbomb Posted October 19, 2005 Report Posted October 19, 2005 the MST3K movie did the same thing, 'cept at the beginning
Mole Posted October 19, 2005 Report Posted October 19, 2005 The FUCK? No one feels what I wrote in my last post is true?
Edwin MacPhisto Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 No, I just don't think any of us really replied. More or less a Buffybot.
RavishingRickRudo Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 Yeah, it was a buffybot. I don't necessarily think it was in tribute, however. It was a device to convey the needed information, and Whedon drew upon a previous idea to get er done.

Youth N Asia Posted November 23, 2005 Report Posted November 23, 2005 YAY! I've seen it twice in the theater and can't wait to see it again.
Mole Posted November 23, 2005 Report Posted November 23, 2005 Damn, not even three months after its release from the theaters it's on DVD. Just shows how poorly it did in the box-office.
bobobrazil1984 Posted November 23, 2005 Report Posted November 23, 2005 the cover for the DVD absolutely blows chunks. But still, I personally think its cool as hell that its coming so soon. I'm eager to watch it again.
RavishingRickRudo Posted November 23, 2005 Report Posted November 23, 2005 Saw it twice in theatres as well. Just again last week, actually. Just as good as the first time, but I still think the beginning isn't very good and it still does pick up after the Inara talk. The big theme was more understandable to me this time, and it made a lot more sense (not that it didn't make sense before, but the scope of it got across better) and I noticed more lil things the second time around. Jayne holding the Blue Sun bottle/jug for instance. Â Weird thing this time around, I didn't get choked up when Book or Wash died, but when Simon got shot it effected me a lot more than it did before. Here's a guy who's shot, and all he cares about is saving Kaylee and protecting River. And then River says "It's my turn" and it's just... best scene for 2005...
The Ghost of bps21 Posted November 23, 2005 Author Report Posted November 23, 2005 I noticed a lot of little things through repeated viewings. Â The best of which is when Mal confronts Simon about River going Apeshit. They first cut to a shot of Zoe, then someone else (maybe Kaylee), then to a shot of Wash. The way the shot is framed though...you can see Zoe's hand moving away from her holster. That one shot tells you just how dark Mal had gotten since we left the show. And why wouldn't he...with Book and Inara having left...not a lot of heart left on the ship.
Dangerous A Posted November 23, 2005 Report Posted November 23, 2005 RRR or bps, and I don't think I'm spoiling anything here anyways, was the big theme to you, more or less, faith? Having faith in whatever it is that you do, so long as you feel just in it?
RavishingRickRudo Posted November 23, 2005 Report Posted November 23, 2005 Belief/Faith. Â Inara talks about The Operative being dangerous because he believes in what he's doing so strongly. Book telling Mal the only way he can beat someone like that is to believe in something more strongly. The thing I didn't really buy the first time was Mal so strongly wanting everyone to know the message. But the message was pretty huge, and it got across better the second time. "Are you willing to die for that belief?" "Yes I am".
Dangerous A Posted November 23, 2005 Report Posted November 23, 2005 Yeah, for some reason Book telling Mal he needs to be on par with what he believes in to deal with the Operative didn't really resonate with me until I saw it the second time. Â I'll be getting the DVD either for Christmas or B-Day. (which is 11 days later)
AnonymousBroccoli Posted November 23, 2005 Report Posted November 23, 2005 I hope the quick release, and potential lack of marketing doesn't hurt its DVD sales too. The project sure doesn't need any more financial kicks in the balls.
RavishingRickRudo Posted November 23, 2005 Report Posted November 23, 2005 They shoulda had cast commentary. Actually, they should have loaded it with commentary. Â Commentary 1: Joss Whedon Commentary 2: Fillion, Tudyk, Staite, Baccarin Commentary 3: Whedon, Fillion, Glau
Mole Posted November 23, 2005 Report Posted November 23, 2005 Wow, I need to see the movie again because I didn't catch any of that.
RavishingRickRudo Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 Don't ever say that Rudo didn't love ya.  http://www.livejournal.com/community/fireflyfans/488047.html  Two Words.  Lots of Laughs.  GAG REEL.  SUMMER!~
Youth N Asia Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 First movie I've ever seen twice in theaters...it will be a first day DVD buy
Lord of The Curry Posted January 2, 2006 Report Posted January 2, 2006 I think being related in any way to Star Wars is something Serenity and the cast/crew worked hard against.
Ravenbomb Posted January 2, 2006 Report Posted January 2, 2006 got it for christmas. Lack of trailers aside, good DVD
