BruiserKC Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 Funny how the Red Sox go from fan fave to heel so damn fast, lol. Last year most of the country wanted to see the Red Sox end the "curse"...now we can't wait to get rid of them and throw them under the bus.
Vern Gagne Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 Tim Wakefield in his career ERA of 6.00 show why he should of started over Schilling. The C on Varitek's sure has hell can't stand for Captain, or Clutch. Berman was practically balling that Red Sox lost.

Last year most of the country wanted to see the Red Sox end the "curse"...now we can't wait to get rid of them and throw them under the bus. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Because since that time, their fans have become almost as unreasonable as most Yankees fans. If St. Louis goes on to win it all, it'd mean Renteria was on the wrong team both years.
The Czech Republic Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 Berman was practically balling that Red Sox lost. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> BAWLING. I don't wanna think about Chris Berman doing any balling.
KingPK Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 White Sox scare me now though. I'd love to know how to win a game where Manny and Ortiz combined for 3 HR's.... They were all solo shots. That's pretty much the reason. This was just a continuation of the absolutely pathetic September guys like Varitek, Mueller, Rentaria et al had. Top that with there being absolutely nobody to count on in the bullpen outside of Papelbon, and you have a team ripe to be swept. That part is on Theo Epstein for signing a bunch of "reclamation projects" and having each and every one of them blow up in his face. You are going to see a vastly different Red Sox team in 2006. No Damon (You'd be a moron to sign him for 5 years), no Millar (and good riddance), a completely revamped bullpen and probably a few new starters. It's funny, they won last year on pitching and defense, which is what you need, but this year's team was like all the other teams that couldn't get it done: built on mashing the ball to cover up a weak bullpen and shaky rotation. I gladly would have taken Cabrera over Rentaria if THIS is what I have to look forward to the next three years.
The Czech Republic Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 No Damon (You'd be a moron to sign him for 5 years) I guess he's mine, then.
Boon Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 I said I'd take Cabrera over Renteria then, and I say it now. You probably won't see Manny or Mueller on the team, either. If they were smart, they'd go young (Pedroia, Youkilis, Papelbon, Hansen, etc.) and save some of the money they free up for a mid-season acquisiton, or a closer in the off season. Regardless, they'll need more pitching and to replace some of the offense they're about to lose.
Slayer Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 It'd be weird seeing Unfrozen Caveman Baseball Player in a different uniform (Yes I know he was in KC and briefly in Oakland, but not as his current incarnation)
Boon Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 I can't see Johnny Damon in Pinstripes- I just can't- he'd have to cut his locks!
Precious Roy Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 I can't see Johnny Damon in Pinstripes- I just can't- he'd have to cut his locks! <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Slayer Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 I got that from Wikipedia, I should note According to the same article, the reason he grew his hair and beard over the winter of '03 was because the collision with Damian Jackson in the '03 ALCS left him with frequent headaches so bad he didn't want to get his hair cut or shave
Vern Gagne Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 Berman was practically balling that Red Sox lost. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> BAWLING. I don't wanna think about Chris Berman doing any balling. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks. I have no real excuses for that.
nogoodnick Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 I've been talking shit to people for the last month about the White Sox and they go and prove me wrong just like the Sonics did last year.
Vern Gagne Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 I guess I should be upset being a Twins fan. I'm not though. Ozzie Guillen after Torii Hunter barrelled into the Chicago catcher last year. Didn't say it was cheap, or any other sort of complaint. He just said it was an agressive play, and he wants his team to play like that.
SteakGrowsOnUecker Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 congrats white sox, ive waited 12 years for a good playoff run. gotta love em.
Annabelle Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 everyone turns into a corporate prostitute to play for the yanks. damon will be no different. zito will be playing for them in a year or so, too.
Boon Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 Eh- a lot of guys sellout to the Yankees for money and to win championships- Johnny's already won one of those.
Bruiser Chong Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 Who the hell are all these supposed White Sox fans that are showing up now that the team's going to the ALCS? I've never seen these people before.
The Czech Republic Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 People are registering new accounts just to profess their longtime love for the White Sox.
Guest gogosox81 Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 hey, long-time lurker, first-time poster, i just wanted to say congrats to my chicago white sox, i knew we could do it this year. i've been a fan for 20 years and this is the best team we've ever had. ozzie's gonna win this for us, anyway justwanted to say GO SOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EVIL~! alkeiper Posted October 8, 2005 Author Report Posted October 8, 2005 Indeed. Czech, what have I told you about gimmick accounts in Sports?
Slayer Posted October 8, 2005 Report Posted October 8, 2005 I firmly support the presence of gimmick posters in the Sports Folder Also, hockey is better than baseball
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted October 8, 2005 Author Report Posted October 8, 2005 Have I mentioned that misquoting the Sports mod is a bannable offense?
