TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2006 From Meltz: --TNA taped an interview with World Series MVP David Eckstein and Jim Cornette in Louisville today. It will air on the prime time show on the 16th. --We got several reports from major markets where there were TNA commercials, focusing on Kurt Angle, during Raw. These were local spots bought from the local cable company as USA Network would not have allowed spots like that to air nationally. They are doing an ad campaign. GODSON 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2006 I think the primetime special is TNA's last chance of getting new fans and securing their number 2 position. If the primetime special fail to live up to the hype(not just ratings wise but Genesis buyrate and critical success) then TNA will never get past the hump. The penny ppv help draw new fans and was a great idea. Their first primetime specials with Best Damn Sport failed horribly.Their first primetime on Spike was a critical success but failed in the ratings and as a ppv seller. The New Years Eve two part special help push ppv buys for Sting return but that's it. After reading the spoilers, the shows come off as decent but nothing really happens that will make fans go wild other than the Angle match which not be enough. I personally think TNA should of did more with the Primetime special. They should of pay extra out the pockets to make it a LIVE show. They should of revamp the company image from new logo, ring look, entrance look to basically everything. The only thing I heard them change was the opening video. This is TNA's version of April 10,2000. I don't think TNA is on it's death bed or anything like that but their number 2 spot can easily be challenge at the moment and it should not be threaten in the first place. The next wrestling show not related to WWE that come on national tv have a shot at TNA number 2 spot. WSX went from being a sh!tty looking show to a new concept in wrestling that might be unpopular around here but if their show end up doing better or closer ratings to Impact, TNA should be scare. I was just watching NWA Pro on Mav TV.com and it amazes how they got better production values than TNA and can draw 3000 people to the show(they must of promoted Santo). Myxamatosis 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2006 I like Vince Russo. Sorry, I do. But the guy always blows his load too quickly...he has good ideas (Sabin turning heel, losing the belt to Styles), but he pulls the trigger too fast. If spread out over the course of a few weeks even, his ideas could have much more of an impact. The product seems to have kicked into a higher gear it doesn't need. Slow down, let things settle in. You know, his fear that people are going to change the channel unless you do something shocking.

Wow, it's a good fucking thing I checked my computer tonight and saw this, as I would have pissed if I got to East Hartford and found out the show moved. Anyways, everything I heard from people that were familliar with the East Hartford Venue was that there was essentially no room for seating at all. There was maybe space for a ring, about 50 floor seats, and that's it, no bleachers, nothing, it was supposedly just a real tiny ass dive, and no one involved bother to look into that before they booked the show. Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2006 Tonight's TNA show in Connecticut has been cancelled after building inspectors showed up and refused to allow the show to take place. Several police cars were also dispatched to the show. Fans outside the building are chanting "F*** Vince McMahon". TNA is filming fan reaction outside the building. Several TNA wrestlers who had arrived at the building early are outside signing autographs and talking to fans. The cancellation of tonight's show follows the move yesterday from the original building after a similar problem with building inspectors. The problem with tonight's building involved a different inspector from a different town. Among the violations he cited was a crack in one of the Exit signs. It's not clear who made the phone calls to building inspectors, but one of the police officers told one of the TNA officials on site, "You know you have a competitor up here who isn't making your life easy". Tonight's show was scheduled to be the first show run by TNA in Connecticut. WWE is based in Stamford CT. pop-ups.com

spman 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2006 What a fucking waste of time that was. 40 minutes to drive to Bloomfield, and a quarter of a tank of gas, only to find out the show was canceled. They told me they'd refund my money at least on Monday through Paypal, but I'll believe it when I see it. There may be something to the conspiracy theory though, because one of the members of WWE's Board of Executives is Lowell Weiker, a former Governor in this state, and I can guarantee you he still has connections. Downhome 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2006 From PWInsider: QUICK TNA-CT NOTES by Mike Johnson @ 9:05:00 PM on 11/11/2006 Quick notes regarding the TNA cancellation tonight: An estimated 15 police cars arrived at the Bloomfield Tennis Center around PM and informed both the venue and Hermie Sadler's UWF that tonight's TNA event would not be allowed to take place due to permit issues, citing inadequate exits for the estimate number of fans who would be attending the event (the UWF had been expecting in the area of 800 fans for the show, which would have been the higher attended of the weekend lop). They attempted to move the show Danbury, CT at the Police Athletic League building but that option was shot down. One TNA wrestler who was in attendance when the police arrived described it as, "if we were witnessing a major drug bust. They showed up like they were here to shut down a brothel or something." Fans that were already at the venue waiting to be let in were treated to an impromptu autograph session by the talent that was there. The UWF provided free photos to the fans as well to get signed. We've received a number of complaints from fans attempting to approach the building that they were turned away by stationed police vehicles on the road leading to the venue. When one fan, who had paid for tickets, was asked if he could go through to get his refund, he was still turned away by the officer. The TNA wrestlers were paid for tonight's date, although the UWF lost quite a bit of money on their investment for the show. I was told that there was some footage filmed of the shutdown, which I wouldn't be shocked make it to YouTube or the TNA website.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2006 I don't recall WWE ever doing this with WCW but I don't recall WCW ever having shows in Vince's backyard. I think it might be crazy to assume Vince would call in a favor for a house show but I wouldn't be surprised at the same time. What's with the building permits in CT, anyways? ROH had the same thing happen to them and they were forced to work in a tent in the pouring rain.

ROH had the same thing happen to them and they were forced to work in a tent in the pouring rain. Connecticut has some extremely strong fire and safety codes that are strictly enforced ever since some circus fire in the 40's that killed a couple hundred people, mostly women and children, and injured almost everyone else involved. Plus, that nightclub fire at the Great White concert a few years back just down the way in Rhode Island didn't help much. and I was at that tent show ROH ran, and it was quite the experience to say the least. It was a complete fucking downpour for the whole show, and the tent was only about maybe 15 feet off the ground and there wasn't even enough room under the tent for everyone to fit. It was still a good show regardless, and it at least made for an interesting story.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2006 If ever anyone has ever wondered if WWE cares about TNA or if they read the news on the internet, here is this from PWInsider: WWE OFFICIAL ISSUES DENIAL OF INVOLVEMENT IN TNA CT EVENT CANCELLATION by Mike Johnson @ 10:18:00 PM on 11/11/2006 World Wrestling Entertainment's Vice President of Corporate Communications Gary Davis issued an email statement to Bob Ryder of 1Wrestling.com this evening, commenting on the cancellation of tonight's scheduled TNA house show in Bloomsfield, CT. Davis wrote, "Please make clear to your readers that there is no truth to the assertion that WWE had anything to do with the cancellation of the TNA event in Bloomfield. I don't know why the event was cancelled, but, whatever the reason, it had nothing to do with us." In a previous 1Wrestling story about tonight's cancellation, Ryder (who handles travel and gorilla position duties for TNA) noted that World Wrestling Entertainment's headquarters are located in Stamford, CT. spman 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2006 The fact of the matter is that not only does CT have strict fire codes, but it's also an extremely vicious independent territory run by jews who are bitter that they can barely draw 150 people to their show in a high school gym while TNA comes in here and does 800 to their show in an actual sports complex. So if anything, it's wasn't Vince who called the fire chief, it was any one of the dozen or so other stupid promoters in the area that wanted to kill their business that did it. If anything, ROH would be a bigger threat to those said promoters then TNA would be in that CT would be a more regular stop for ROH.
