TheBigSwigg 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2007 Come on Russo has shat on everything to pop a rating its time to cross the line and start pissing off the "Heartland" , "Bible Belt" and every single summer camp that brain washes the children to believe that they are "The Soldiers of God" and all the people that voted for Bush for the second term! It will get more press than anything TNA has done that involved baseball players, country music singers, and NASCAR drivers! Remember controversy = ratings First off, Russo wouldn't piss off any "Christian" viewers because he himself is Christian. Second off, quit being an asshole. There's no need for anti-Christian bigotry in this thread, or any for that manner. I know you're just shooting at the "conservatives", but try being tolerant for a change. Even to intolerant people Actually, if done the right way.. it'd be a decent angle. Especially if you can throw in Christopher Daniels in his "dark priest" garb and get a solid stable of people together. I don't see why its okay to laugh at or poke fun at Blacks, Latinos, Lesbians or any other group for that matter but when it comes to Christians it becomes "Oh.. that's just cruel. We shouldn't take pot shots at the Christian faith or Christians as people.." I mean, it's fucking professional wrestling.. a god damned "sport" that has long been seen as a joke and a fraud. Who cares if we have a few guys come out and work an overly-religious type cult that mixes the aspects of The Flock, Truth Commission and whatever group Sinister Minister used to have? Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2007 Eh...I think TNA has had enough "dark" stables. Heck, they have Seratonin right now. Just a straightforward wrestling heel group would be fine, please.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2007 They could have Raven's cult be the face stable working the "liberal" or "liberation" extreme side. Come on "Christian's" are hypocrites to begin with they may have good intentions by preaching "don't do this, don't do that, its evil, etc." then go out of their way to do it when nobody's watching them. They could always have Sting come in to make the Save with his baseball bat of righteous destiny and do rants about false profits/idols. but try being tolerant for a change. Even to intolerant people Oh trust me I look the other way, alot...but why is it that everybody and everything can be ridiculed in pro wrestling but those wacky southern religious zealots? Sounds like a double standard to me.
UZI Suicide 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2007 During TV matches there have been people yelled at for trying to work psychology into matches, people yelled at for grabbing holds, people yelled at for working body parts, etc. Guys have no idea whether they’re supposed to be a babyface or a heel (even Angle stated in an interview last week that he didn’t know what he was supposed to be) and have noticed that because of it they get very little reaction unless they’re doing some crazy high-flying move There have also been names in TNA contacting WSX in the past two weeks. Sounds like a double standard to me.Not all Christian zealots are southern, and not all Christian's are hypocrites. That's like saying all Muslims are terrorists or all black people are gangstas. I don't see why its okay to laugh at or poke fun at Blacks, Latinos, Lesbians or any other group for that matter but when it comes to Christians it becomes "Oh.. that's just cruel. I don't laugh when people poke fun at any group like that. I cringed when Vince called Rosie O'Donnell "The Left Leaning Lesbian." I don't like Cryme Tyme's gimmick because I think it's cheap. I don't think we should take pot shots at ANYONE. Whether Muslim, Christian, or any other religion, I don't see religion as fodder for cheap heat in a wrestling angle. Shit like that leads to garbage like "McMahonism." I'm glad you put conservatives in quote. Mecca 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2007 Oh but it gets even funnier........ Tanahashi is set for regular participation in TNA after completing his contract renewal yesterday. The IWGP Heavyweight Champion, who first appeared in TNA last year, has been wanting to return to America for a while, after he won many new fans during his last stay. President Simon is likely to start talks with TNA soon, and Tanahashi's regular participation on TNA events is almost definite. Since TNA has an irregular TV/PPV schedule right now, which doesn't involve long tours, Tanahashi can be a regular for the promotion without missing New Japan shows. The possibility has emerged of Tanahashi making his TNA return in April, and the young ace of Japanese wrestling said he wants to sell his name to the world. He also has another motive for going to America, and that is to chase down a certain individual who ran away from New Japan with a belt last year. credit Strong Style Spirit Now everyone take into acount Vince Russo is the man that said........ You will never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever see the Japanese or the Mexican wrestlers over in the mainstream wrestling. And the simple reason for that, and I don't want to sound like a big bigot or a racist or anything like that, but I'm an American. If I'm watching wrestling here in America, I don't give a shit about a Japanese guy. I don't give a shit about an Mexican guy. I'm from America, and that's what I want to see. I'm sure he'll have fun working in TNA......
Corkscrew_Senton 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2007 Good. God. I can't STAND Vince Russo! Tanahashi is awesome, he'd get over for the same reasons guys like Daniels, Styles and Joe are over in TNA -- because he's a great wrestler. Fuckin' eh this guy is awful. I mean, how can you find a job booking when you're THIS STUPID?!
razazteca 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2007 All I got to say is Jushin Lyger vs Juvi in WCW + beer bottle finish was 3 minutes of crap. It they are smart they would let Tanahashi vs Senshi go to a 15 time limit draw in a strong style match nothing but stomps, kicks, chops, submissions until both are left in a bloody mess then Joe can walk in Musclebuster everyone and declare that he is the Greatest Wrestler to Ever Come Out of the New Japan Dojo. If Tanahashi is going to be a regular they might as well give him the belt or have him win the Super X Cup.
Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2007 You might be able to add Yuji Nagata to the list of great wrestlers that Russo will misuse with his terrible booking. Nagata told the Japanese press he is working the 2/26 tapings.
Corkscrew_Senton 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2007 I love the part where Russo says he's not a bigot or racist. If you're white and you don't like lucha/puro, that doesn't by any means make you a bigot. What does make you a bigot however is having Juvi win the IWGP Jr. title by hitting Liger with a tequila bottle, or putting all the luchadores into a "Pinata on a Pole" match. I just hope he doesn't have Nagata and Tanahashi in a fucking "anime on a pole ladder match" or one of them using chopsticks as a weapon or something. Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2007 And what did he mean by "getting over in mainstream" wrestling? Did he mean mainstream as in press coverage? If so, somebody should have told him that even American wrestlers almost never get mainstream press coverage. Austin, Rock, Hogan are about it when it comes to serious level coverage apart from the once-a-year Wrestlemania stories. Did he mean mainstream as in getting over to the casual fans? If he does, then he never heard of Great Muta or Jushin Liger or any of the other numerous non-American wrestler that people have gone crazy for. Those statements were insane, and hopefully the rest of the TNA booking team are able to work around his narrow mindset. And before his defenders jump in, I know those statements were made over seven years ago, but Russo has shown no sign that he's moved on from the 1998-9 time period, so I have no faith that he's changed his mind on this one. Jushin Liger was extremly offended by that........if anyone knows the story they can elaborate further but I know he was heavily pissed. NJPW refuses to acknowledge the title change. Basically Liger was led to believe his tour of WCW would be like in '95 when he was used to put on great matches and showcase the skills of himself and his opponent. He was completely wasted by Russo on that tour, a problem compounded when you consider he was half-a-world away from home competing. Also, title changes in Japan are always done by a matter of who's the better wrestler. So he and NJPW brass were not happy when their respected title was changed in 3 minutes with a tequila bottle shot.
