Who's winning the 2006 Royal Rumble?

Recommended Posts

Guest I miss Test.

The only way to beat last year's event is if HHH tears both his quads like Daddy.

I'll guess some SD guy wins. I don't know who's on that show.

I'd go with Mysterio as well....food for thought: since Brock isn't coming back (so it seems anyway), get the belt back on to Randy Orton sometime before the Rumble or at the Rumble or whatever and have an Orton/Mysterio title match at WM as well...as I said earlier, Austin/Hogan will overshadow anything else they could put on the card anyway...

Actually since Misterio (unlike, say, Cena) can actually get people into his match --- he might be able to avoid having the ME completely overshadowed.

It would still be so --- but he'd minimize it.

I forgot Orton is on SD. Yep, he likely wins.

He's fucking hot, so it's fine with me.

If I could, I'd make sure the WWE knew my money spent on the PPV was intended for a Mysterio ME match as opposed to a Hogan/Austin match...

I'm thinking Orton as well, with Orton v. Batista at Mania. I know people still talk about how the WWE has "lost faith" in Orton over the whole face turn thing, based on some stupid internet rumour that HHH was down on him, but I don't see it at all, he's clearly positioned as a major star for years to come, and personally I think he's been one of the 2 or 3 most entertaining guys in the company since he went heel again in the buildup to Wrestlemania. The face turn was an unfortunate blip on the radar, but he's been back on track for some time.

Fuck, Mysterio should win it. It's not that hard to change the "winner main events Mania" stipulation.

Or keep the stip, have a Mysterio win it but then get screwed out of the title shot at the PPV before WM 22 so that, win or lose, the guy who got screwed out of the title shot as a ready made program post-WM.

That would also be good because the Rumble winner has won his title match for FIVE STRAIGHT YEARS, so switching it up would be great.

Mysterio winning, with a heroic underdog buildup to a match w/ Batista/whoever, only to lose but "gain respect" out of the process, would be awesome. With Austin-Hogan on the card (likely) you can put on a match like that, it's actually the perfect time to do it as it shouldn't carry a show but is good enough to get people completely drawn in. I seriously doubt WWE would invest all that time into Mysterio though. I think he should get the title at some point, but realistically even a "he was soooo fucking close" scenario is too much to expect.

I'd like to see RVD win this when he comes back too, but I can't see them giving him the big HHH style U2 videos hyping his return at the Rumble. I'm predicting Cena will win the Rumble since he'll likely job the title to someone before then, then he'll get the title back from HHH at WM. Rinse, later, repeat.

Perhaps RVD and some other guys can do another Money in the Bank match at WM? That'd be cool. RVD can win it and cash in his chance at the One Night Stand PPV, in the one "ECW vs. WWE" match on the show.

Rey wouldn't be that far off though. With his new change of theme music, going over Eddie Guerrero plenty of times, and JBL recently, he could be up for a serious push. We'll see how much they think of him after this Sunday though, that will be the true test.

If I had to guess right now, I'd say Randy Orton. It'd be a lot easier of a question had it come after Survivor Series though.

Angelic Diablo. After everyone jumps from the ring in fear of him.

WWE's going to try to turn Matt Hardy into the new "Crow" Sting?

It would be even more laughable and sad if WWE actually went all out by making him wear black and white facepaint, a black trenchcoat, and had him hitting the other wrestlers with a black baseball bat during the Rumble.

I don't think WWE would have Hardy lowered from the ceiling though, due to the Owen incident from 1999, of course.

Instead of a baseball bat, a softball bat

Instead of black and white crow, purple and white with little wings

Instead of ceiling, from under the ring...he just hides there all night until time to appear.

It writes itself.

The only reason why Steve Austin became wrestling's biggest star was because Vince McMahon was forced -- by very threatening competition -- to give the fans what they wanted. If Austin came around in 2001, he would've been buried unceremoniously just like RVD was. Otherwise, Vince hates wrestlers who have the gall to make themselves stars. If he can't control you and come up with your gimmick and decide to push you on his own, then you're not going anywhere.

Vince stated many times prior to the start of Austin's mega push, that he felt Stone Cold was the "Best wrestler in the WWF" during AOL chats

He was given the KOR win prior to becoming a sensation, and that was the momentum starter that made Austin take off about 3 months later as a upper card guy who the fans percieved as such.

Since SD! has the latino market interest, i can see them using Rey as the ultimate underdog... perhaps with a Batista heel turn... Rey can talk about growing up watching Perro Aguyo, Mil Mascaras and such and how these men could never take the WWWF or WWF titles. (Show clips of Mil vs SS Graham) and how he wants to do it for his Family, his countrymen and his fans.

Orton or HHH.

Face it, RVD doesn't stand a chance. Besides, if he won, it'd have to be Cena vs. RVD at Wrestlemania, which would be the absolute shits from an in-ring perspective. Mysterio...can't see it, Batista will still be champ and I can't see them screwing with the Rumble winner formula.

Unless Lashley gets over BIG in the next few months, it's either Orton to face Batista or HHH to face Cena.

HHH should win the title from Cena soon... then, HHH can win the Royal Rumble, so we can just have HHH celebration party at WM, instead of a title match. But, Edge dares to interfere during it, using his Money in the Bank, and promptly gets squashed.

I think the saddest thing about Vince is that he always seems to know that there is a problem with the product, but never does anything about it. It seems like his employees can just walk all over him at times, unless he gets that competitive fire like he had in 1984 or 1997.

Strangely i'd REALLY like this scenario.

I don't particularly like or hate HHH, but I do dislike Edge.

And it would be funny, and a bit of a different style of booking...

Trips can wrestle in his suit and everything :)

I can really see a heel winning the Rumble next year.

Randy Orton probably takes favorite, unfortunatly.

I just had a thought that it would be kinda cool if Edge uses his shot at Rumble, loses, and then goes on to enter the Rumble and win. He's a heel, so the win would be ultra-shady of course.
