EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2005 any long time fans just get a Red Sox/Angels Game 5 1986 ALCS with Lidge playing the role of Donnie Moore? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Let's hope Lidge doesn't kill himself. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hasn't it been proven that Moore didn't kill himself over that game? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Indeed. Moore had many personal problems beyond baseball.

EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2005 It's hard to tell what will happen. What I do know is that may have been the best game of the postseason. If not for the 18 inning game, it wouldn't be close.
Slayer 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2005 I'm not gonna stick a fork in the Astros just yet, although they have the tall task of trying to win at Busch, where they've been 1-5 these last two postseasons

mike546 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2005 Well, they were going home, and they had RJ and Schilling waiting in the wings. They've got Oswalt and Clemens on the road, but RJ and Schilling were freaking unhittable in those playoffs.

Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2005 Fucking right it's predictable. What the fuck kind of reaction should he be getting? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He gave up a homerun to the best hitter in baseball. It happens.

What the fuck kind of reaction should he be getting? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He gave up a homerun to the best hitter in baseball. It happens. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He threw a meatball to Pujos. I was thinking be careful, and if you walk or let Pujos even tie the game it's better than serving up a HR.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2005 Well if it goes 7 the Cardinals can always use their Clemens killer: JEFF SUPPAN~! You know what's weird? I knew if Pujols got up in the 9th he'd do exactly what he did. There's just some cognitive dissonance involved in the Astros being in the World Series. I can't resign myself to this fact, and thankfully after tonight I won't have to for at least another couple of days. That said, this series now seems like the 86 Angels/Red Sox series mixed with a hint of Cubs/Marlins with the Astros now having their two aces going in 6 and 7. Thing is, the Cubs fucked it all up at home. Pujols is God. A-Rod, Vlad take note. That's a fucking money player.
Fökai 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2005 One thing that's been missed is that Pujols home run literally saved Busch Stadium. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You know, after that Busch Stadium retrospective in the bottom of the eighth, I just knew that the Cardinals were going to win to send it back there. Just John 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2005 What an awful ending for the Stros. I don't think that could have been any worse. They should've walked Pujols and gone after Sanders who has a horrible track record against Lidge. That 3-2 is almost meaningless now, but this is wear the Stros Game 2 victory is so huge. There's no getting over the hump any more. They just have to win. Oswalt and Clemens are still no gimme victories any way you slice it. Pujols should be walked every time he steps to the plate. Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2005 That may have been one of the greatest things I've ever witnessed in baseball as it was happening. Stros weren't just an out away from the WS, they were a strike away. I was sure it was over. When Edmonds drew the walk, I had a feeling Albert would save the day. I still don't get why everyone's writing the Astros off. Cards still need to beat Oswalt and Clemens and have the same offensive issues plaguing them. I'll say that I'm much more confident the Cards can take the series now that they've managed to send it back to Busch. Kinda nice to see Garner's highly-praised late-inning defensive moves bite him in the ass. Not saying Biggio would've made the difference, but surely you'd rather have him up there over Vizcaino.
