The Move

Recommended Posts

I personally liked RAW better on Spike.

(petty random complaints below)

It may be my T.V. but I have to turn it almost all the way up to even hear the USA network. If I switch over to Spike the sound is blarring.

Allthough I hated some of the commercials on Spike, the USA commercials are even worse.

There's no other programming on USA I care about so I don't like giving them any of my ratings.

I now miss the first 5 or so minutes of TUF.

Anyone else wish they didn't move? The only positive I can think of is that if they didn't move, Impact wouldn't have been picked up.

They seem to let a lot more language fly on USA. Also they get more of an over-run.

Actually, I'm pretty sure WWE themselves wished they didn't move because at least when they were on Spike, they were getting ad revenue. Under the new USA deal, they don't see a dime of ad rev. to the tune of $20 million loss every year for the next 5 they are under USA.

not really the show ended (on my watch) at about 11:06 PT, which was basically the standar endtime on spike (about 11:06-11:08)

I thinkl the picture and sound may depend on your cable/sat company, but on my TV spike comes in much clearer than USA and a bit louder as well

The irony is that it's the opposite with me: on Spike TV (Ch. 41) the sound is really shitty but then on USA it's fine.

As far as the ad revenue goes, the whole USA deal was insane. If I'm Vince I wouldn't be in THAT much of a rush to leave Spike, not to the tune of 20 million in lost ads a year.

Isn't WWE going to end up running some specials on NBC though, since USA-NBC are under the same umbrella corporation? Yeah that lost money is a real pisser.

USA is a one show wonder. When Raw was on USA before the move to Spike, they didn't have any other interesting programs at that time either.

I like the new graphics, and it's nice that they changed the set, even slightly. I've also noticed that the picture quality on USA seems to be better on Spike, but that's about it.

Now if WWE would just start putting out a more cohesive product on RAW, it would be a winner.

Has anyone else noticed that the stage and ramp are to the right of the hard camera now, as opposed to the left like before? Maybe it was just the last two arenas they were in, but it seems they switched it when they moved to USA. If they would have done a few other small things, it would have made that much more of a difference.

-New music for the opener

-A new Raw logo

-Raw logo on the mat or turnbuckle pads

-New chyron graphics to correspond with the new logo and look

These would not have been outrageous changes made to the show (like a totally new set, screen, getting rid of the ramp, etc.), but would have given a brand new feel to the show.

I already think that USA has given a bigger push to WWE than Spike/Viacom has in the past 2-3 years. I've noticed alot of WWE on USA ads on NBC the past few weeks, even on their bigger shows like Law and Order and SNL. You never saw WWE promos on CSI over on CBS.

Perhaps if digital cable actually entailed that all channels were infact digital quality then there wouldnt be a difference lol. but for some reason here, my upn channel (kcop 13 LA) is now in digital quality (well that one and the home shopping channel for some reason) if you have a box (only have one in the living room, not in my room where I watcch and tape the shows), which means smackdown looks way better then it ever did before.

No.

USA has actual sporting events like the US Open, Masters and various other golf events that alone put it ahead of the garbage Spike had.

USA has those mentioned sporting events, Monk, and the new Kojak (which I thought was above average, but not great.) I have never watched The 4400 or Dead Zone, but I have heard a lot of people talk about them.

It seems like the alledged "specials on (insert broadcast network)" are talked about every time WWE strikes up a new TV deal, but they never come about (other than a few "best of" shows on UPN).

In other words, I really wouldn't hold your breath for a return of Saturday Night's Main Event, folks.

Yeah, like NBC wants stuff that can potentially be more embarassing than the XFL games on their network. If anything Vince should realize why the big 3 won't touch his product. That doesn't even make him smarten up. I guess he likes being number one on UPN and other inferior channels. We'll just get Mcmahon vs. Mcmahon on SNME. Let my memories of SNME remain as they are.

People that don't understand how ratings are calculated are funny...

Like leaving a TV on tuned into the Dog Show on USA back in the day, just to counter-balance the ratings cuz your watching Nitro on the other TV. I know people who did that.
