Top five active writers

Recommended Posts

but I'm not surprised you've already taken a pot shot at me spikey-pooh

I guess it depends do you mean "top 5" in number of matches written in a time period (win or lose)

or best of those that have been active this side of Genesis?

cause one is a fact - the other an opinion

yet Spike would be in neither

1. ELM

I totally and blatantly ripped the guy off when making my stats and tried to pattern my style somewhere between his and Ejiro's when I first started out. No brainer.

2. ToxxORU

Toxxic was probably the quickest to find success in his 'career' from debut, which says a lot. Plus he rules and the such.

3. Drea

Come on. It's Drea. Jimmy The Doom is magnificent beyond all sembleance of belief.

4. Jay Hawke

Can you say under-rated? Stable pride and all, but Jay's great, stable or no stable.

5. Todd Cortez

Guess I have to say him, huh? :P

Close Runners Up:

Bill Fillmaff

Muzz

Ebony

Spit hot fire eh? so you've evolved past the eye beams? Mansonisity to the max!!

And for me the list looks something like that

1 - ELM / Jay Hawke - I just can't pick one over the other, they simply kick consistent ass!

3 - TORU - yeah I need to explain this

Last 2 spots is hard to call - but you couldn't go wrong if they're taking from the group of Todd Cortez, Landon or JJ Johnson (I'd have included Zyon but he ain't active right now)

And no I would never actually name myself - I'm not one to blow my own horn despite one person apparently thinking I'm that kind of egomaniac

Spike isn't on the list, no where near the top really - considering all I've seen from him in the time I've been active is losses (and a magically disappearing match  ) I can't even comment on his quality

Cause it's always been the other guys matches I've read :D

(and Muzz qualifies as an "active" writer? who does he write?)

I like how you gloat about me always losing when me losing is the angle I'm running.

You're a sharp one.

ah so you played out that angle even before Genesis VI did ya? that's some great planning on your part *thumbs up*

And there is a difference between "gloating about you losing" and pointing out that I have yet to see you write a winning match in the time I've been here

Mr. #1 contender

Of course you being a tremendous ass just makes it funnier

You've also been here for a total of a week.

Once again, do you not realize nobody cares about what you say?

That's right 13 shows straight = "1 week" (that must be that there newfangled "American Math" you're using)

13 shows I've written

or in Spike terms

1 years worth of match writing... wait 1.5 years :D

LOL and you act like I should be bothered if anyone else care or don't care about what I say? I'm not looking for validation here so I'm not bothered either way ;)

although I was wondering if SWF validates parking?

That's quite enough. I'm not going to watch every other thread devolve into this ridiculous argument. Bruce, quit instigating. It's none of your business what Spike does with his character. Spike, quit goading. Bruce probably would have stopped already if you had ignored him the first time. Everyone else, keep out of it. I don't give a damn if Spike wins or loses leading up to our match. No one else should either.

Now then.

1. TORU - Toxxic's writing skills haven't slipped a bit in his transition to a new character. His matches are funny yet incredibly well-written. He always keeps the reader amused but makes sure they have a perfect picture of what's going on in the match.

2. Jay Hawke - Consistency personified. You can always count on a great match from Jay, which is the main reason he's held the International Title for as long as he has and become one of the greatest "Second Belt" Champions in the history of the fed.

3. Landon Maddix - Tremendously entertaining writer with a fantastic character. The Casino Brawl at Ground Zero was one of the funniest matches I've ever had the pleasure of reading, and I felt gave Toxxic's match a run for its money for MOTN honors.

4. Spike Jenkins - Currently writes one of the most compelling and intriguing characters in the fed. The main reason I was upset about Spike/Tom disappearing is that I felt the two would collaborate on a fantastic match, thanks in no small part to Jenkins.

5. Todd Cortez - Kinda got the short end of the stick on the Martial Law breakup, but I'm confident that he'll bounce back from that soon and make a run at the top. He's certainly talented enough to do it.

Didn't consider myself because I don't feel I can impartially judge my own writing. :)

Guest BillFillmaff

Bill Fillmaff is pleased to see that I'm getting some recognition around here!

As for my top five... I think you'd know who I put. But I'd like to put TORU up here for having the cajones to call me when you all folded. Kudos to you, kid.

And that is the sappiest you will EVER see Bill Fillmaff get.

The thing is - I had stopped, I thanked him nicely for adding to my win colum and really didn't give a crap after that.

But he insisted on taking pot shots which is the only reason I even mentioned him in this tread at all.

Actually Bruce with that statment right there you just started again. Thanking him for adding a win to your win column is most definitely boasting, even if you are or are not kidding. As for Spike losing, so what? Its obvious its an angle he's running and yet you continue to hound him for losing. I know 99.999999% of the time you are kidding about how great you are and stuff, but its the fact you beat a dead horse. Like with The Nightmare Express beating TKO (By no show or barely getting a match in) you boasted quite a lot joking or not. The first two times were light hearted and maybe funny, but after awhile I'm thinking..."Ok...shut up." I think thats what Spike is saying except in a more harsh way, which you deserve since you've also taken shots at him. Basically you are both taking shots at each other, but really Bruce you may just be a little more at fault since Spike is running an angle, which is GREAT cause it adds layers to this fed, and yet you continue to take shots at him joking or not once again. But yeah you should both chill and stuff.

Anyway...

5. Bruce Blank- Just to prove I don't hate you. Ok actually because since you've been here you have defended the hardcore title and have been reliable when it comes to match and such. By now I got bored with the Hardcore House rules match, but you seem to thrive on it. Thats comendable indeed.

4. Spike Jenkins- The thing with this is that Spike has been around a while and I'm sure he used to be big into writing matches and well still is, but lately his matches have taken a back seat to angles, which in all honesty is a great thing. He's still one of the better writers match or promo wise. His consistancy is questioned by some, but by me he's active as hell even if he isn't writing matches.

3. Jay Hawke- Ditto on what everyone says of him. Writes great matches, has made the International title HIS, and is just that good.

2. Landon- He's exactly like Jay Hawke, except he's been involved in slightly more high profile stuff, CLUSTERFUCK winner and Todd Cortez stuff. So I give him the nod at number two. Really though Hawke could go here too.

1- Toxxic and ELM- Toxx because he had a radical run with Toxxic and is still going strong with TORU, and he's still an excellent writer and for supposingly not caring he's been quite active. And ELM cause he's has broke the mold and fit under the title World Champion. He's active as hell and main event like a World Champion should. He's our franchise player right now and he's the guy to beat and admire.

*Sigh*

alright since this seems to be big bad bruce here can I just say that the comment i made when I said "Well then thank you for adding to my win colum" was NOT boasting

he had told me he no showed, it was an angle and we'd kinda gone off on each other, so to call and end to it I went "Well alrighty then - thank you for adding to my win colum with your angle"

not once did I boast that I beat him (since it wasn't a contest at all)

and you all seem to think I'm just talking about the 2 losses after Genesis when I said I hadn't seen him win a match in the time I was here?

But that's it - I'm not talking about it, I'm not commenting - I'm not even making a mental note directed at Spike. so no worries, just resum with the listings of everyone's top five

thank you and good night :D

Oh shit! before I forget

I do appriciate the nice words about my writing - for some weird reason (that a shrink would probably have a field day with) I enjoy writing the bloody, brutal hardcore matches more than any other type of match.

On some boards I have a disclaimer in my signature: "Never take anything said by this poster seriously - it could be damaging to your health"

I second ELM's 'shut up' plea to the pair of you. Whether or not Spike intended to have a losing streak at the start of it is a moot point, but he's making an angle out of it now so who cares? And Spike, do remember that Bruce is Danish, and his English, occasional grammar errors included, is probably considerably better than your Danish.

As for active writers:

1. ELM - came back not missing a step and, is regularly booked and is basically being a dick to the whole fed. You've gotta respect that.

2. Landon - will occasionally flake on the big matches, but his character is probably the best-realised whiny bitch since... well, ever. It takes some serious skill to make a 21 year-old former World Champion come across as an immature, sex-starved teenager (I know sex has only rarely been mentioned with Landon, but he really *seems* it. I dunno why).

3. JJ Johnson - Either this guy is an old-timer in a very good disguise (which would explain the fact that he's now marking) or he's spent more time researching the fed than i have (and people used to think I was a ringer too). Plus he's always a good writer, and sometimes pushes the boat out to rise to the occasion and produce something that is The Definitive Shit.

4. Jay Hawke - Mr. Reliability isn't the greatest praise you can normally give someone, but in the fed it means a lot. The International Title could have been a poor unified title if it wasn't for Hawke and his single-minded grasp on it. The first lower-carder to take it from him is going to have a MASSIVE boost.

5. Todd Cortez - Also a very reliable writer. It's a shame he hasn't done much since the Martial Law breakup. Maybe he's Marty Jannetty?

Honourable Mentions: Spike and Bruce Blank. Yes, they fight. And yes, they might both have slightly inflated egos (and yes, I'm a fine one to talk). BUT Spike angled himself into a Tag Title shot, and then a World Title shot, which is more initiative than a lot of people show. And Bruce always writes, promos regularly and is trying to make his mark on the Hardcore belt by going 'Ultraviolent' and creating his own gimmick match for Ashes 2 Ashes rather than waiting for whatever CC chucks his way. Granted, this is a match-writing fed, but we need angles too. Make more angles, people!

Technically, the tag title shot was because of the win over Landon/Jay Hawke, two upper midcarders/main eventers. Plus, it wasn't like W+D were defending the titles at the time.

The World Title, yeah, I pretty much did. But hey, who isn't to say that Spike/CC/Flesher wasn't a great way to set me up in the main event...

...Except for Spike/Flesher not happening...Yeah...

1. Mr. Galatea - For simply being Galatea.

2. Mayor McCheese - It's the fucking Mayor. He's awesome to the maXtreme!

3. Sacred - Muzz be the bomb diggity, yo.

4. Fallout - He is teh 0wnz

5. BasketballASA - BONE'S EDGE WILL DESTROY YOUR SOUL AND RAPE YOUR CHILDREN, YOU HOMO BUTT MONKEYS!

Seriously, though, real listz0rz:

1. OAK - Best champeen in everything. Including champeen of your mom! BURNSAUCE, baby!

2. Hawke - Even though, for whatever strange, subliminal reason, I don't like him, he's a good writer, and there's really no point in disliking someone who sucks (Hence me not caring about Maddix. EXTRA-SPICY BURNSAUCE!)

3. Jennykins - Could it be a good angle that's thought out, and perhaps won't be forgotten a week before the pay-off? Even if for some reason, it collapses, Jenks is still good.

4. JJ Johnson - Even though he's actually Jay Dawg (Come on, a Canuck that likes to kick faces? Drazon to the infinity), he's niftable with his writations.

5. Mr. OSITY - This requires no explanation.
